Your guide to booking Mumbai flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to Mumbai, aim to book around 22 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 9% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to Mumbai, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to be around ₹ 9,423 return. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a good deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, aim to travel to Mumbai in September. Return fares historically average ₹ 10,422 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond an ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to morning to save up to ₹ 1,800 per return. Morning flights to Mumbai average ₹ 12,127 compared to ₹ 13,927 for midday flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class, and route. On flights to Mumbai, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, IndiGo includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class, Akasa Air includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class, and SpiceJet includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Once you arrive in Mumbai, a few great places to start are Bandra Kurla Complex, Juhu Beach, and Dadar Railway Station. These are popular with first-time visitors and can give you a good feel for the area.
  • Domestic flights to Mumbai are operated by a number of low-cost airlines, such as IndiGo, Jet Airways, Hahn Air Systems and Vistara. Flights into Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport could land at either T1 or T2 depending on the airline and the origin of the flight, so it is important to check which terminal you will be arriving at before you fly.
  • For passengers with young children on flights to Mumbai, you will be pleased to know that in T2 you can find a play area run by a pre-school. This area is great for children between the ages of two and twelve and is designed as an adventure safari. There are also books for children who want to read and there are trained staff in attendance to look after the young travellers while they play.
  • Travellers who need a quiet moment of contemplation away from the activity of the airport and the city can retreat to one of the multi-faith prayer rooms that are located in T2, both at international departures, before and after security, and domestic departures.
  • For business travellers who need to do some work before leaving the airport, you might consider going over to the Regus Express hub located in the arrivals hall at T2. It is possible to just drop in at this workspace without having to make a reservation in advance. The business hub is well-equipped with co-working spaces, meeting rooms, private workspaces and video conferencing facilities as well as a place to shower and a café.
  • If you are only in Mumbai for a short while and would like to explore without your luggage, Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport has a left luggage/cloakroom facility available in all terminals. Excellent experience. Flight landed before time. Crew was very efficient, good food, in fact yummy food. Perfect experience. I wish they add something on the entertainment side also, which they are lacking right now. Hopefully soon they will add

This was my first flight on Akasa Air. Overall experience was average. But the landing / touchdown was one of the worst that I have seen. Very hard and rough, it was scary.

The flight was 90 minutes late, but other than that no issues whatsoever. Boarding was quick and the flight crew were well-trained.

Really liked attitude of staff, particularly at the time of Check-In, though they were slow. and punctuality of the flight, In tie take-off and in-time landing.

Nice place and crew. Everything from checking bags all the way to arrival was excellent

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL SEATS. I was on row 6 and they had put exit row seats (where the handrests don't move). I am 5 ft 2 and had NO space in front of me - the seat in front of me was touching my knees. Was the most claustrophobic 3 hours of my life. It was like being in a cage. I won't be traveling in Akasa ever again unless there's a must-go situation and no other options are available.

Considering their new step to aviation world , it didnt seemed like they doesn't know how to serve the guest on board and in ground . Super prompt services is really appreciating and on time rather before time arrival is something to applaud.

Overall experience has been festinating. your on ground staff at the check in counters are very special and they make a big difference on my opinion and hence rated them 10 out of 10. Well groomed, speak politely, guide well and give appropriate suggestions. During boarding also it is well planned and well managed. Overall a good job. just an issue with your Mobile app. while check - in from mobile app it dosent take the Auto assigned seats and then when done from a Laptop it takes place. This has to sorted out. I have faced this issue for the 7th time in last 40 days while travelling with Akasa Air.

My choice of food was not availabe for purchase, even veg cup noodle was not available and I had to settle for chicken. The Kombucha was great though The landing was very bumpy. Would not prefer to fly again

Paid for the seat 17D. I found that that seat has no lean back facilities

Flight was short but turbulent giving uneasy feeling :( ; although views were mesmerising ;)

No food/drinks included for BOM to BKK I paid 675£ for LHR-BOM-BKK (return) flight.

The flight was delayed by 3 hours, causing me to miss my connecting international flight. I then had to wait in the airport 18 hours for the next flight. The reason for the delay was a computer issue, not something outside of their control like weather. To add insult to injury, instead of trying to expedite the flight to make up for lost time, they ran a carry-on baggage check to verify every bag onboard belonged to someone on the plane, which took another 20 minutes.

Level of service is definitely going down, cannot expect the same service as earlier

Indigo attempts to make you pay for a seat during check in. I opted to not do this. The result - they allotted me and my minor son seats apart. In the interest of making maximum money, they seem to have lost common sense too. Similarly, even during the flight, the crew are busy trying to serve food to those who’ve already paid for it. By the time they’re done, it’s time to land and no one else is able to get anything. Sadly this seems to be what makes them profitable, customers just need to bear with it till a better airline comes along.

I did not like the communication gap existing amongst the staff and the customer. My flight to Nagpur was delayed by two and half hours but it was informed to me on email ( not by W.A. or SMS) when I have already left my home in Baner area. I was painfully detained at airport with luggage when the gate no. 10 was changed to 5. I'll never recommend your flight to anybody.

There was inordinate delay without any plausible reason. This has become a normal feature of Indigo now a days.

The entire experience leave an impression that there are scopes for improvements in all spheres. Seems the airline has expanded beyond their capacity to manage.

V difficult to book ticket through on line.finally I was not able to book maa to Ahmedabad ticket on last Thursday.it is abig struggle.

Standard Air India quality service. Nothing out of the ordinary. Exactly what anyone wants : efficient, polite, and gracious service; a comfortable seat; and on-time service

Flight was delayed almost 4 hours departing Goa. Even on arrival, there were busses to carry passengers to the terminal which were very delayed. All in all, an unpleasant experience.

The flight was cancelled and no support was offered and the rescheduled flight had several delays!! Terrible experience!

The crew was polite. The snacks were served cold and were tasteless.

Absolutely ignorant Air India personnel at the Air India counters in Cochin Airport.

I don't think there were entertainment options (short flight) - which is why I gave the 'ok' sign. Didn't make a diff in my flight experience either way, however

tray table was inclined by 30 degress so could not use it

Flight was delayed in phases from 84ppm to 2am. And at 2am it was cancelled. Only refund option provided and no stay was provided. Poor communication throughout and shameless behaviour from the airline with no regard for seniors citizens and those travelling with children.

The boarding experience was very organized and easy to follow. The flight was pleasant and the food provided was also very good. Both Delhi and Mumbai airport have metro connections which make getting around much easier.

Food, choice of menu and quantity were poor. Crew services were even poorer, not attending call bittons

I reached the check in counter 1 hour before take off and was denied boarding because the luggage could no longer be transferred to the flight. I was aback when throughout the world(including India) for a domestic flight, you need to report 1 hour before boarding. Then on top of that i was made to buy a brand new ticket. I had paid $350 for a business ticket between delhi and mumbai and then was made to buy another economy ticket for $100, No concessions/discounts were made for the airline's own inefficiency! The reservation counter was also extremely rude and unapologetic about making me pay a second time. For such a mediocre airline, there seems to be zero focus on providing good service to their customers and providing a pleasant experience.

only passenger seats are too much narrow. It’s not comfortable otherwise it’s good. Seats are very important because it’s main in Travel

Miss my flight from delhi to amritsar due to lock the luggage door of airplane.and there was no more flight even for next days and they not refund the fare. I took bus grom delhi.. bad experiance.

very run down aircraft. seat tilted. the mobile / magazine holder was broken. The entertainment screen was not working. The crew was good, polite and helpful

Boarding was through bus even though aerobridges were empty. Major mess

I will never ever fly in SpiceJet again. 1. I paid for my additional baggage weight before coming to airport and I have the receipt from Amex card. But the staff couldn’t find it so I ended up in paying again. 2. Online registration doesn’t work with international phone number so I don’t know where the issue was with my check in 3. Who weighs a backpack and a hand luggage for 7kg? With just a laptop, charger, empty carry on luggage might become 7kg. Felt like the staff was hired to just target money collection. 4. While boarding the flight, the staff on the ground was rude while I searched for my boarding pass. 5. The landing was so bumpy. 6. Longest shuttle from spice jet landing to the airport. Bags came in even later.

The flight was delayed by 3 hours, took off at 11.30 pm, instead of 8.25 pm. No refreshments were given to passengers. Despite long wait.....pathetic.....

The flight didn't even take off and cancelled in a royal manner. Hopeless airlines.

The flight got multiple changes of timings and ultimately I had to cancel it.

I have been an NRI living abroad for the last 35 years, but I had one of my worst experiences recently at the Dharbhanga airport, especially with the ground staff. Their behavior was very rude; one of the staff members almost abused me and charged me extra for my laptop and cable that I was carrying from Dharbhanga to Delhi, where I had an international flight. Despite being careful with the weight limits, the ground staff treated me very poorly, making it one of the worst flying experiences of my life.

Staff could have been helpful when traveling with kids and seniors. Not at all professional staff, just some janitors who do not understand hospitality. The food was horrible; the tomatoes tasted foul. The flight was small and the legroom was not good.

Flight was changed without proper monitor display. Boarding process was confusing with no announcements.

The flight 3 time delay I was so nervous and full tired

Timing Should be Accurate to Fly Flight was Delay By 3 hrs

If u want a flight that is delayed regularly by more than 3hrs, it’s ur flight..👍🏻
