Get there early. No one from British Airways will tell you this but there are separate queues if you are traveling by business or first class. Do NOT keep any valuables in your checked in bag, they will be stolen. Eat before the flight if you can as the inflight meals as if January of 2024 are really bad. Do not carry any spices or pickle in your carry on bags, security will make you throw them away.

Your guide to booking London flights

From booking to airport arrival, find tips to help you plan your flight with more confidence.
  • For the best chance at a low fare to London, aim to book around 25 weeks before you fly. That window historically saves about 17% versus last-minute pricing based on KAYAK booking data over the last 12 months.
  • For flights to London, recent KAYAK data shows that stronger deals tend to be around ₹ 61,806 return. If you see a fare below that threshold, it's a good deal – book before the price climbs back up.
  • If you can choose when to go, aim to travel to London in October. Return fares historically average ₹ 63,476 that month – typically the cheapest month to travel based on the last 12 months.
  • Before you book:

    • Check the route's typical price range so you can spot a deal.
    • Confirm baggage fees and seat selection costs on budget carriers.
    • Verify whether you need any travel documents beyond an ID.
    • Pick a departure airport, since your nearest may not be the cheapest origin.
  • Shift your departure to evening to save up to ₹ 9,853 per return. Evening flights to London average ₹ 72,193 compared to ₹ 82,046 for afternoon flights. See the time-of-day chart above for the full breakdown.
  • Bag allowances vary by airline, fare type, cabin class, and route. On flights to London, some airlines may include bags at no extra cost. For example, Air India includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class, British Airways includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class, and Virgin Atlantic includes a cabin bag and a checked bag in Economy class. Always check the fare details before booking, since bag policies can change by ticket type.
  • Once you arrive in London, a few great places to start are Central London, Paddington Station, and Hyde Park. These are popular with first-time visitors and can give you a good feel for the area.
  • Flights to London from India land primarily at London’s Heathrow Airport and are operated by Jet Airways (an Indian carrier), British Airways and, in some cases Virgin Atlantic, depending on the point of origin. Air India flies to both London Heathrow and London Gatwick, which may be better if you are staying in the south of the UK. Both Gatwick and Heathrow have good express transport links to the centre of London.
  • For those travelling to London with children, Heathrow has play areas in all terminals for children up to the age of 9. These Stay & Play spaces have separate games for babies and toddlers and have a collection of soft play areas and slides where children can burn off some energy. There are also colouring sheets and pencils to occupy the budding artists in your party.
  • If you are booking flights to London for business meetings, it might be easier to hold the meetings in the airport than try and get into London. If you are flying with British Airways, which lands at T5 at Heathrow, take advantage of the meeting facilities in the Regus Business Lounge. Located in the arrivals area, you can book meeting rooms of different sizes that can hold anywhere between 4 and 10 attendees. There are dedicated teams to help you set up meetings and who will organise refreshments.
  • If you are craving a moment of solitude and quiet contemplation after flights to London, then look out for the multi-faith prayer rooms that are in every terminal in Heathrow and in both North and South terminals at Gatwick Airport.
  • For those who have limited layover time to go and explore London, it is a good idea to leave your cases in the secure luggage storage facilities that are in every terminal at Heathrow. Cases and bags can be stored for a few hours or several days and per bag stored, cost approximately GBP7.50 (around INR676) for the first three hours, GBP12.50 (around INR1,126) from 3 to 24 hours and an additional GBP20 (around INR1,802) for 24 – 48 hours.

Very bad service and food variety will never come back again

My baby was with me it was really good experience with emirates

Fantastic as ever. Great staff super catering and excellent service.

Flight and entertainment great. Food needs to be improved, only one choice on the menu. Staff worked well throughout.

Crew were excellent and the bar service and chat fantastic. Cheese board delicious. Amenity kit good, very disappointing not getting pyjamas on this leg of the flight and needed to reuse from earlier flight.

Hospitality is good. Should improve on buggage handling because l lost a suitcase. Layover in Dubai was too long , 6 hours

Everything was superb, only bad point was that the fast track on London Heathrow arrivals was not handed out to me and I had to go back to the gate to collect it.

Superb experience. I hope they bring back the fast track option at Heathrow immigration.

I liked theAVML food. Taste was alright and quantity was enough. Sometimes during the flight I felt that the smell from toilet was coming to the cabin

You can improve in many ways First the crew in general is good, but needs to work with passion to their works not like robots Second, collecting the ear headphones long time before landing is strange The crew should deal with the passengers with respect and descent way not like giving orders

Selection of movies didn't include recent box office hits. Food was average not great. English sparkling wine is not drinkable. Otherwise, everything was great.

Food has been disappointing in both legs of flight to india

Great staff great experience, made a 2 hour delay very bearable

I was my pleasure to fly virgin on my birthday for my first solo trip ever 🫶🏼

Overall, flight was excellent but check in was very slow for Premium Economy. Economy queue was shorter but we weren't allowed to use it.

Great crew - old style upper class seats on the older fleet now feels dated

Following a paid seat upgrade for enhanced comfort, I encountered an unacceptable odor in my assigned area. It took three hours for the crew to relocate me, and the replacement seat was unacceptably close to the lavatory, offering no improvement.

Good overall. Cannot fault the airlines. I have had better entertainment systems before ie ice in Emirates but it was not too bad. Food was decent and staff were friendly.

Miami airport needs more thorough signage. It was a long walk from my transport point to the check in desk,

We’ve used VA before many times the experience is always been good they have lovely staff and the food is always delicious.

I was mislead in the booking thinking I was purchasing via kayak however underpricer was the ticket vendor and I did not have access to seat selection, wifi or the lounge at the airport with my business class ticket for this reason. I did know know these issues were going to occur when I bought the ticket, I was very displeased

Over all good experience. Cabin crew should have been more attentive and the food quality should improve.

Crew from ground is great but the aircraft is small and last 3 rows luggage section was occupied by crew so no space for travelers. Food was OK

Maybe some more information as to why the flight got delayed I understand may be tell your customers that missiles were fired at a specific airport wouldn't be reassuring to the customers and would cause mayhem but something like recent events have cause a delay on your flight or smth

From Chennai to abu dabhi Abudabhi to Chicago Both flights are good , good service too

Air hostesses were great. Food was good. Flat bed is not that flat or comfortable.

Seats were very comfortable and the staff too was very friendly.

Flight got canceled due to Middle East conflict. Just fly hasn’t refunded me the money

Business class ticket should include lounge access and seat selection. The food quality and varieties should be more. It was surpirise that no dessert was offered.

It was great! Kept the time. Provided what was promised

Worst customer service I've ever experienced on a flight. They downgraded my seat without giving me any other options, then sat in a seat with an arched back for 10 hours. I was not able to get ahold of any customer service representatives to understand what alternatives I might have, or how they will be handling a refund for the difference in fares between business and premium economy that I was downgraded to.

Poor experience at Bengaluru Airport. Slow check-in process. Boarding calls were unclear and by number (no clarification given for priority groups) and were caught in wrong queue with infant based on what was written on ticket. Aircraft seat was not comfortable. Slow initial service for flight at 03:00 where most passengers wanted to sleep - did not seem right to be serving meal after takeoff. Poor quality breakfast in morning, not offered any tea/coffee alongside Only saving grace was that this was a night flight and the plane had free high-speed Starlink wifi.

On time. Comfortable sats. Clean aircraft. Friendly crew. Good food.

Overall great! They could add more entertainment option. They kept running out of vegetarian food options and I got travel packs. This happened on all legs of the flight. Need to plan for it better - I am sure you have some data analytics from all your travels.

Better service to offer drinks in the middle of the trip

They can improve Everything, a 12 hour flight has just 2 meals and the meals are 7 hours apart, wtf are they thinking. At the very least they should have 2 refreshments like some small snacks with some water or some other refreshments since there are people travelling with medical conditions. The services and seats were genuinely horrible

The British airways from Dallas to London is not great , the food is not good at all but BA from London to Delhi is amazing food is great.

Missing 3 out of 10 checked in bags.Transfers in London and Chicago are chaotic.

It was good. I really liked the breakfast which was served.

My bag stayed in London - it didn't arrive in JFK and I was informed it would arrive at my address next day. I'm still waiting for my bag and it has not been delivered. I have an air tag, my bag arrived at JFK airport around 12pm and it has been moving between terminals since then. Now they said it may arrive 1 am or tomorrow. I'm jet lagged from my flight from India, without my suitcase and may need to miss a work day (Monday) because my suitcase was not delivered at the time it was promised (today, in the afternoon). The suitcase delivery service is not reliable and I'm not happy waiting around the entire Sunday to hear that it may or may not arrive today.

Air India Express operates as a separate airline, so it says. Air India Express is a subsidiary of Air India and is part of the Tata Group, which acquired a 100% stake in the airline. (https://www.tata.com/business/air-india-express). Yet Air India express is not a member of Star Alliance, so Star Alliance gold members do not receive the benefits they would had they traveled on a mainline Air India flight. Even though it's a subsidiary of Air India, which is a Star Alliance airline. Very frustrating.

When landing in Hyderabad, the pilot made a hard landing. Everyone in the plane were shocked. The captain landed the plane hard and felt as if we were going to be thrown out from our seats. It was surprising the captain didn't apologize or make an announcement about. Again a surprise no crew acknowledge this. This was an odd experience!

I appreciated a meal on the shorter flight. It was slightly delayed with no announcement but I was able to determine what was happening.

I don't think there were entertainment options (short flight) - which is why I gave the 'ok' sign. Didn't make a diff in my flight experience either way, however

Really old air craft, broken seats and tray tables. Entertainment screens don’t work. Charging ports didn’t work.

Poor, pilot flew as if he was in hurry and had to coverup for wasted time

seats were not comfortable, entertainment was not working and food could be much better, given the airline calls itself full service and india's flag carrier.

The planes did not have charging jacks for phones or lap tops and there are no monitors for movies. On the flight from Delhi to Hyderabad I was the last person in First asked for a meal choice and only one meal was available so I had no choice.

Other than the inflight video screen freezing for about four hours everything else was brilliant.

The flight was dirty. The screens were not working and people were restless. Food and staff was okay.
