Cons: Very soft beds and pillows compared to UK standards.Both my husband and I have sore backs now. Wasn’t informed about a $100 per night hold on our credit card when we checked in, so had to go back down to query it.

Cons: We had a beautiful view but were unable to open the blinds. Asked for service and only got partial resolution. Very frustrating. Remotes to operate lights and adjust shower and blinds were outdated, unintuitive, and quirky. Too expensive for this!

Cons: The trend amongst hotels to no longer put both a fitted and top sheet on the bed. I would rather have a top and fitted sheet along with the duvet. However, we called down and this was taken care of and we were brought the additional bedding we requested

Cons: The bedroom and particularly the windows are not well sealed so the soundproofing of the street noise was poor. I was woken circa 4am on two separate mornings by the noise from the bin collection as we were clearly staying above the service entrance. We ended up buying ear plugs.

The staff was excellent, the location magnificent, the facility great, the cleanliness meticulous! We were 4 people staying in a 4 sized room. Yeah, you need a little fight for your private space there, the room has just enough space definitely not more but it is what it is in such a great location with such an attractive price. Best value I can tell! The staff exceeded all my expectations by far! All of them. Great management with great company culture I reckon. A little unfortunate situation occurred as the hot water was gone (for a day), but the management found a way to compensate accordingly. We got an extra bed solved immediately, a cleaned room every day, cheerful staff everywhere, just what our team needed to experience New York for a short time. We also traveled uptown for dinner at Gallagher's, the play "Wicked," Serendipity, shopping at the one and only Bloomingdale's, and being frontline at the TODAY show. It was a fabulous, fall, four-day excursion!

Cons: Not sure they had a lifeguard on duty at the pool. Someone greeted us pleasantly when we went to the pool area but he did not appear to be watching the pool. There was a child who got in the water with an open wound.

We didn't even have a chance to ask for silverware, which one of us was missing. We shared until we could get someones attention. Not an easy task here as they seem to go with the NYC theory, Don't make eye contact. When we were finished I asked the wait staff for our check (I hadn't seen our waitress in a while). We waited, and waited, and waited. I finally saw our waitress by the bar so I went over and asked for the check.
All in all, a mediocre experience. The only plus is the location. I won't return. Not really worth the $$$.

Cons: The room was too small. That was the problem. We have been coming here for years always getting a spacious corner room. The room was a corner room as confirmed for this trip but apparently there are 3 big corner rooms and one small one. I even selected a higher price room to ensure my selection. When we arrived the room was the mini corner room. I immediately complained. The woman at the desk insisted that that was my selection and my fault. After traveling 15 hours I was not happy. Of course I complained and took the contact info for the General Manager who I immediately wrote. The GM, Brian Fahey, who is new to the job, took immediate action. He met me personally. Listened to my complaint and righted the situation to my satisfaction regardless whether I was at fault or not. His swift resolution of the problem changed my stubborn mind from not wanting to return to be back again. He also said there will be upgrades in service and the facility in the near future. Pros: The location is the only good thing about this hotel. The entry/lobby is deceiving because every time I walked by this spot from the street I always thought it looked so pretty. Little did I know how bad it was until I stayed.
Cons: To begin, the staff at the reception was far from friendly. She barely gave me eye contact. It was 5pm so roughly an hour before street parking was free. She told me it would cost $80 for the hotel to valet my car. It would have been nice if they would have offered to just take my car for the hour so that I could check in and then I could just street parking my car at 6. Instead I had to deal with it. As I got to my room, I noticed the carpets in my room were not vacuumed well. Next, I went into my bathroom. The floors were dirty there as well with hair and the top of the sink stop cap was missing. The sink stop part that was there was filled with black mold. See attached photo. Ugh. That night we awoke to a fire alarm on our floor that continuously went off. I immediately called concierge and they told me not to worry about it. It kept going off with no explanation. Needless to say, I slept horribly, wondering what was wrong. The next morning I woke up to a bill left at my door with 2 erroneous charges to my room from the mini bar. The snacks that they have there for you to purchase have been there for ages and have been opened! See photo. I don’t know who is running this place but it doesn’t seem like they know how to run it and how to treat customers. For what I had to pay, I cannot believe how far it was from a “luxury” hotel feel. The vibe at this hotel is all wrong. All the staff look down at you like you are bothering them. I will never stay here and I hope you don’t make the same expensive mistake I did. Don’t let the beautiful sidewalk facade trick you. It’s beautiful but a terrible experience!

Cons: Rooms were a little on the small side but very comfortable. Wear and tear is starting to show a little on the hotel room walls which the hotel should keep a bit more fresh to stay top notch. Our air con was noisy but the staff arranged a new room without fuss.

Cons: Entrance lobby was too basic / sparse. The bedroom window area was dirty and old and badly finished. The walls in the bedroom were damaged by lots of scuff marks, a bit sloppy all round. The library sitting area was a bit peculiar, not easy to get a drink, and the restricted bar area at the weekends was a pain. You essentially lose your bar service except for in the library area. The hotel is cashing in on selling tables for $1500 to the foolish so you can’t blame the hotel for cashing in on this market. But in the process the hotel suffers badly. I will give it a miss next time, there are many better hotels in the area and beyond.

The pillows in the room were absolutely terrible and linen was "tired". When trying to check out this morning, and being in a rush to the airport, the front desk was not manned and I had to wait for a few minutes just to check. The hotel is definitely not worth the rate and I won't be staying at 11 Howard are recommending it.

Cons: We had to move room twice. First time we had no hot shower water and they couldn’t fix it. We were left alone to move our stuff from 25th to 4th. Any help offered: NO. Then we had a bad night sleep as the water pipes ran next to the bed and you could constantly pipes being flushed. On top the heating that was switched off by the central control switched itself on constantly during the night. Then we were asked to move rooms again and no one offered again any support. Then we decided to check out and to leave the hotel for good. We had an apology but still had to pay full price for the two nights. Anyhow, I know where never to return back to: Holiday Inn

Had to call and ask reception for some standard disposals like cotton pads, shower cap, hairdryer, bathrobe, sleepers as they were not provided.

Cons: The wait for the elevators was ridiculous. One time we had to wait more than 10 minutes at the lobby floor before one came down. I understand this is to be expected as they only have 3 elevators servicing the whole hotel but I think there are things they can do to improve the wait for elevators. For example, requiring staff to take the stairs where possible. We experienced more than once staff taking the elevator between one floor (with no supplies so no need to use the elevator). There is no reason a staff member needs to take the elevator for one floor (or realistically, even 5 floors) if they are not carrying anything as it just adds to the wait for paying customers. The water tank for the coffee machine was dirty with no visible way to detach it so we couldn’t take it into the bathroom to give it a wash out. Was a pity as would have been good to utilise the free coffee.

Cons: Employees do the bare minimum, and they are clearly understaffed. The hotel does not have a place to temporarily park to check into the hotel. The employee attitudes are also not the greatest either.

Cons: Booked a 4 bed room for 4 people and confirmed with the hotel. We were given a room with only 2 beds. Front desk offered us a 4 bed room at a different hotel, which turned out to be low quality. We talked with a manager, who was rude to us and an employee

Cons: On the day when I stayed in the hotel, NYC got colder in early November. The room was also very cold. Talked to staff. He did adjustments for the temperature, but it's not useful. The cover was also very thinner. Didn't sleep well on that night.

Cons: Everything!! holes in the bedding, towels, walls and dirty floors. There was a used elastopl;ast dressing lying on the bathroom floor, the room was filthy, the sheets had brown stains on! The room was up a steep 4 flights of stairs, 60 in total. There was only 1 pillow on each bed, which was flat and when asked, the reception said they only had 1 per bed. In the evening, we returned to go up to the room and the entire landing smelled very strongly of cannabis! There were couples fighting, throwing things around in the room and swearing - not impressed as I had my Grand Daughter with me!! It was like being in a really violent gang movie! We went down at 5am and checked out and demanded a refund, informing the reception of our concerns, particularly the drugs and domestic violence. Initially he reused my refund, however, when I mentioned the NYPD police car outside and that I'd go and take it up with them, he quickly relented. He charged me for the 1 night and refunded my card. The most worrying thing was that when I told him about the drugs etc. he didn't act at all surprised or dismayed. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. DISGRACEFUL IN EVERY SINGLE WAY

Wednesday thru monday there was no heat in the room at all it was super cold in the room the remote controller to the tv didn't work we had to get up every time to change the channel plus the tv was going off air all the time. call everyday about it. They finally got us a working one the day of check out. When we ask for extra blankets it was always a long conversation about it . we had to ask for extra towels, hand wash towels bc they didn't supply none in the room. Had to ask for a new bed sheet. Bc when we check in it was dirty n the room smell like cigarettes when i ask for a non smoking room. The walls next to the windows was crack all around next to the bath shower floor had a burn on it. I wasted almost $500 dollor. When i asked for a discount because everything the internet said about the room was a lie they said not there problem they don't care .

Cons: The room was a 4th floor walk up and the initial room did not have a functioning security lock, it was located next to the fire escape with the door open and the window had been smashed and could not close. I could not believe it! They changed the room.

Cons: Not possible to sleep without earplugs at all. Toilets are very few and they are always clogged. Walls are so thin that you hear ALL the other rooms and feel like people are in your room. There is no room for your stuff at all, just enough space to open the door. By default, you don't get sheets. you have to ask for it.

Cons: The bedding could be better, not sure if they are cleaned after every guest but they could use new bedding/pillows etc. I can honestly say that you pay for the location not the room. Otherwise if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and are not expecting the luxuries of an actual "hotel" this is the place for you. It should actually be classed as a hostel rather than a hotel. Staff is very nice, in that I mean the one person that was manning the desk I never saw anyone else.
