New York Hotels in Chinatown

Pros: Great spot, we love staying the Bowery and Chinatown area, subway nearby so easy to access the rest of Manhattan. Clean, comfortable and trendy hotel.

Pros: We slept really well thanks to the super comfortable beds and pillows. The rooftop bar is impressive

Cons: There was nowhere for my friend to get a cup of tea.

Pros: Great location for lower Manhattan. Great rooftop bar. Very clean and comfortable rooms.

Cons: No tea and coffee facilities in the room, so not able to make a cup of tea before bed!

Pros: Good location, comfortable very clean rooms with great bathrooms and products

Cons: A kettle in the rooom. Breakfast excellent with super off-top views over Manhattan but pricey at $33.50

Pros: Everything was awesome! The hotel itself is in a great location and is a beautiful building. The hallway and rooms felt like a comfortable very posh cabin. A very unique and tranquil atmosphere. The rooms were modern but rustic and so comfortable!

Cons: Absolutely nothing!

Pros: We didnt eat breakfast but loved the roof terrace. Staff always helpful and polite.

Cons: Would have liked to have tea making facilities in the room. Also a socket near the mirror for drying hair. One big not like is that we were asked to move rooms on our last night so that the owner could have a friend's party take over the 20th floor which meant we had to pack a day earlier than we had intended which does impact on one's enjoyment as it hurries up the departure emotions. And you never quite pack properly so spend the last night rummaging around in your case for mislaid/mispacked stuff. Also, we asked for a city view but had a view of the Manhattan Bridge. Finally, the 20th floor is just under the roof terrace which is open until 2am on Saturday nights and the music/noise does drift down. In retrospect, would have chosen an 18th floor room.

Pros: Very modern and comfortable. Nice coffee in mornings on rooftop bar.

Cons: Advertised roof bar -- but the roof bar was unavailable for the entire length of our stay.

Pros: Elevator & private bathroom for the neighborhood & price hard to beat. Italian sheets & courteous staff earned extra stars. Great bathroom products.

Cons: Noisy neighbor situation, but that was investigated quickly by staff, with reassurances. 24-hour subway on Manhattan Bridge, but that was barely noticeable with double windows & blackout curtains.

Pros: Great staff, friendly and attentive. Hotel is neat and clean. Easy walking distance to great authentic chinese food, morning coffee shops.

Cons: Little loud with the train running across the street. Rooms are pretty small but for the price it’s unbeatable.

Pros: The room was clean and we had a window. Space was a little limited but the room was tidy and the bed sheets were crisp and clean. Good value for the price.

Pros: Rooms are new and refurbished. Bed is very comfortable and big. Bathroom is clean and also new with an excellent shower. They also have cable tv with a good sized television unlike some hotels who put in small TVs. There is also air conditioning which is centrally controlled so all the rooms are kept at a nice temperature. In the bathroom you get 3 large bottles of shampoo shower gel and conditioner rather than those tiny bottles some places give you. Broadband is free and also superfast

Pros: Very clean rooms, bed was good, good bathroom.

Cons: The room was very small for two people with a suitcase each. The neighbourhood was really bad, I would never book a hotel again in Chinatown. It was dirty and smelled like fish (not in the room!).

Pros: The beds were comfortable and the room was well stocked with essentials like toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, shower gel, shampoo and towels and cloths. Friendly staff and good vending machine.

Cons: It was beside a subway line which was quite noisy and had regular trains, but it was easy to get used to and the windows provided excellent sound reduction.

Pros: Great value for Manhattan and good location. Near by subway stations made travelling easy. Some great restaurants near by in the lower east side. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were compact but met our needs!

Cons: The room didn’t have a safe, which I would have liked.

Pros: the staff is amazing, very nice and kind , super helpful. It's very clean room and nice hotel in Chinatown.

Cons: I would fix a couple of things: having the possibility to modify the temperature of the air conditioning or switch it off (currently is centralised) and i would change the tiles in the bathroom (they look oldish and not "modern" ). There is no wardrobe in the room, would be nice to have that too but it's not a big deal.

Pros: Excellent double glaze windows which kept out ALL of the NY city noise! Room was always the perfect temperature, excellent shower. Toiletries restocked every day. Free sweets and espresso! Given a list of local recommendations for food, sightseeing and shopping locally. Well connected for the subways!

Cons: Rooms are tiny (but I get it-its NYC!), and there are very limited facilities. No bar or snacks, no chill out area, just literally lobby and rooms.

Pros: There are 2 very close subway stations. There are all types of cafes, bars and restaurants around the hotel. Brooklyn Bridge is just 10 minutes walking distance. Rooms are nice and clean. The most important is windows are sound proof. Although the Chinatown is very noisy, we did not have any problem about it.

Cons: Room very small, carpet stained, very few amenities.

Pros: Modern clean and comfortable. The shower was awesome. Also, this hotel didn’t have a resort fee. Lastly, it was in Chinatown and super close to Little Italy, Nolita, the Lower á East Side, and Soho shopping on Broadway. It was close to five subway stop especially the one at Grand Street which got us to Midtown Manhattan with ease. Also, the Keurig in the room was great and the front desk staff would provide more pods if needed.

Cons: We were in a room farthest from the elevator but we could still hear it when it was running. Luckily it did not keep me awake.

Pros: Rooms are bigger than most hotels in NYC. Staff is great and friendly. Only hotel I go to when I go to NYC. Located near MTA locations for different line. Just south of SOHO so no SOHO prices. Great food within walking distance.

Pros: Room was very nice and clean. Window view of Manhattan Bridge and Lower Manhattan is amazing.

Cons: Wifi wasn't working in our room at all. We caught it just in the hall and sometimes wasn't good even there.

Pros: The bed was very comfy. Rooms were very clean. Staff were very helpful and friendly and the location was fantastic.

Pros: We couldn’t have picked a better location at the Leon Hotel! Easy access to Manhattan and Brooklyn via subway and a lovely walk down to the river under the Brooklyn Bridge. The room was clean and perfect for what we needed. The bed made it hard to get out in the morning and the shower facilities were spot on. The staff were absolutely amazing. When we arrived we had questions about how to get around and the lady at the desk was really helpful. On our last day, our precooked taxi didn’t turn up and the receptionist quickly organised us another so we made it to the airport in time. So grateful - thank you.

Pros: Super comfortable bed! Awesome air conditioning and it was needed! Great water pressure and lots of hot water. This property had an elevator which was a life saver at the end of a long day of sightseeing! The Leon Hotel was in close proximity to several subway terminals which made getting around super easy! It's also located directly in front of the entrance to the Manhatten Bridge which was awesome to see every morning. Despite its busy location, there was no street noise to be heard in the rooms. The staff were awesome and had great tips for food and shopping. Safe area with lots of police presence!

Cons: The room keys did not work so every time you left you had to have someone bring you back into your room. Even if you decided to go out to get ice downstairs or water. It was inconvenient. Also it was not clean.

Pros: I thought that the way this tiny hotel was wedged into this older part of time was cool. Literally the hotel is so small I almost missed it even when looking right at it. A bigger sign would've been helpful. The breakfast bar was good, the staff was friendly, the room was small but had everything needed.

Cons: My one major complaint was the inability to control the thermostat. There was no cool feature on the thermostat, only heat, and the staff for some reason couldn't explain this to me. I was simply told it would get cooler as the temperature went down. So during the day when it was almost 80 degrees outside, it was almost 80 degrees in our room as well. We were only able to cool the room off at night by opening our window. Also, even though I told the staff several times before my stay (I made my reservation about a month ahead of time) that I would be coming in at 6am I was still unable to get in my room until 1pm. So after riding a bus for 7 miserable hours my wife and I had to walk around NYC for another 7 hours, wearing the same clothes from the day before and with no sleep or showers.

Pros: The young woman at the front desk was so kind and helpful. It was a wonderful experience.

Cons: U can't make this stuff up. I have been coming to the States since I was a boy. This trip is the first time EVER in my life that I have felt discriminated against because of my race, or look. In the midst of us trying to just have a good time and celebrate life, witness daily miracles, and just Jah moving by His Spirit on this trip, we had to deal with being verbally abused and harrassed by an older Chinese lady that was just another guest like us..I have never had to do the whole,"Let me speak to your manager," thing but I could not just stand by, and after having this lady all in my face, all in Larrita's face, and on top of that accuse us both of having 'dirty money', because apparently she saw me pay for our room in cash, when we first checked in. Like WTH, so because this BLACK man rolls up in your cheap Chinatown hotel and pays cash, my money is dirty, and we are a bunch of black scum bags disturbing your peace...seriously..and then the management has the nerve to offer us another room so that we could move....no brah, u need to give me some money back, and I know I was easy by just asking for one night fee back...we been here since Wednesday, and not until we confronted the manager, did we find out that this nosey lady, watched me as I counted my money, and then proceeded to complain to the manager behind our backs, and accused us of being bad people with dirty money..Like real talk people, I thought Larrita was exaggerating until the woman interrupted my convo with the manager, and said it to my face,"I have clean money, YOU have dirty money!"...with all that we have been dealing with back home, that experience just threw us for a loop right quick. Needless to say, The Manhattan Bowery Lodge will NEVER get my #dirtymoney again...

Pros: We like being in Chinatown. The price was good for 5 nights.

Cons: We were mistreated and discriminated against by an older Asian lady that was just another resident. My girlfriend and I were verbally abused and accused by this lady, and the day manager at first just offered to move us. Offended at this, I demanded at least one night's fee refunded which I did get, but the sting of being shouted at in the hallways of the hotel by the same lady,"I HAVE CLEAN MONEY, AND YOU HAVE DIRTY MONEY!" still remains. The day manager ended up revealing to my girlfriend that the lady watched me pay cash at the counter, and from there took offense, and thought that we were up to no good. SMH. As a black hard working couple from Bermuda, this was the last thing that we expected to be dealing with on our second visit to Chinatown, since June. Thankfully we video taped one of the instances when we were shouted at while at the counter trying to resolve the issue with management. I shared it on my Facebook timeline, and let my followers know that I will never spend my 'dirty money' at The Manhattan Bowery Lodge again in life. I we plan on making several return trips to NYC because I am a DJ. Promoter, Radio Personality, and martial artist that has competed in tournaments in the New York area....

Cons: No window. I didn’t know it was even legal to rent rooms without window. And such a small place ( about 4 m2) for 94 dollars!!!Not talking about the dirty stairways at the entrance !!! I thought we were in the Bronx !!!

Pros: The staff was extraordinary, so kind and attentive to our every need. Its a friendly neighborhood and no need to stress how good the location is! Everything was clean and the bed was so comfortable. I highly recommend staying here for you'll get your moneys worth.
