Pros: Very nice building. Room and standard of furnishing was very high. Very quiet location. Would be very nice in the summer, but a little dark and remote in the winter. Free to come and go as you like.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent property , Excellent service , good location , great staff lovely rooms and a very good restaurant serving excellent food at all times of the day , breakfast , lunch and dinner
Cons: No canapés were offered during valentines dinner on 14th Feb ( they were offered and enjoyed on 15th Feb )
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The Hotel character, customer service, and all additional requirements were satisfied.
Cons: Bed was slightly in comfy, room was dusty, terrible mobile phone reception and no slippers... But still had a good stay
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was probably the best I've had.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. The staff on reception were very nice and also the Lithuanian barman. All staff extremely polite. I didn't speak to any other staff but these people were excellent. The hotel is unique it's like being in a movie set. I loved it. I ve travelled all over the world and stayed in many hotels and this is one of my favourites.
Cons: I wish there was more options for more traditional English food. Unfortunately didn't see or hear any ghosts, no sign whatsoever.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is beautiful and the staff are extremely helpful. We stayed for a murder mystery night which was great fun and the meal was delicious. Room was a feature room , which was very well designed and comfortable. Great in room refreshment tray. The hotel has a lot of interesting areas and plenty of historical artefacts and is extremely well thought out. Original features which really help to keep the traditional theme. The Hotel and park grounds are also fantastic. Parking very easy.
Cons: Rooms are a bit dark. The water pressure in the shower and taps were very variable, also the pipes really banged when we flushed the toilet or used the taps. The Pipes had air locked to so the water spurted out at times and then stopped .. so noisy!!!. Really needs sorting out. The breakfast items for vegan options are not very readily available. We had to wait for cooked breakfast items, Non dairy spread and non dairy milk. It would make more sense to have some soya milk available and vegetarian/vegan sausages ready and alongside butter have flora or non dairy spread, all should just be on the buffet selection area. This would save trying to catch staff attention during busy times to order special items that nowadays are really becoming the "norm". This would save so much time for all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything and everyone staff are amazing.
9.0 Excellent
Cons: i dont like paying for the car park

Cons: Bar/brassiere had infestation of fruit flies. Very annoying.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very clean & comfortable Excellent check in service
Cons: That I had to pay for parking!!!
6.0 Good
Pros: The bed was comfy and slept very well. Good choice of tv channels and iron was surprisingly good. Nice biscuits and plenty of tea, coffee and milk. Spacious room too. Staff member who served me when checking in my car was fantastic
Cons: Whilst at dinner there were several midges/flies around which was super annoying and didn't feel good at all. £4 to take a tray to the room is excessive. The distance to the room was so far but I suppose being a big hotel it was to half be expected. Being woken up pre 7am for my girlfriend and I was in the shower with a random siren and then really loud announcer was not helpful for a false alarm. My girlfriend didn't have the best check in experience for the staff member she dealt with.
4.6 Okay
Pros: The Pillows were fantastic.
Cons: The shape of the hotel is awful, it goes around the arena so getting to you room was eerie and took a long time. My room was very plain, very little storage, not the slightest bit welcoming.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great staff comfy room great choice at breakfast
Cons: Bit of a maze find way round
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Car park was too far

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable. Spacious and well equipped with a kettle, tea, coffee, milk and sugar. It was also very quiet. I had dinner in the restaurant which was nice. Good value too. Breakfast was lovely. There is a table spread with pastries, yoghurts and cereals for guests to help themselves as well as cooked breakfasts. I had a bacon sandwich which was well cooked and filling.
Cons: The bed was a little hard.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and enjoys excellent location.
Cons: Bath filled with water when we showered. Reported to manager who said she would take action. Pop up plug in basin was faulty and did not retain water in sink. This was also reported to manager.
1.0 Poor
Pros: I had to sleep on a sofa in reception because the keycard didn't work for my room, there was no night porter and the out of hours number didn't work. Have not received any refund as of yet.
Cons: I could have had an actual room with an actual bed to actually sleep on. That would have been better. Breakfast is below average.

Golden Lion Hotel - Rugby - Bedroom
5
8.6 Excellent (496 reviews)
₹ 8,456+
Overview Reviews
The Golden Lion is a friendly, family-run hotel and 16th-century inn located in the village of Easenhall, just 4 miles from Rugby and Rugby train station. It has free parking and free WiFi access. The quiet hotel is 9 miles from Coventry and convenient for access to the M6 and M1. The en suite bedrooms are located in an extension, and are equipped with practical, homely items. There are 2 four-poster rooms with spa baths. The bar and restaurant with its log fire and beams serves Real Ales and good food, including a Sunday carvery. There is also a modern function suite.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Its like home, comfortable. The staff are very friendly. Shall use it again whenever we are in the location.
Cons: Location if anything but it is in a village , quiet and within easy distance of Rugby, Coventry Birmingham etc.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food is to die for. Beautifully presented cooked to perfection. It’s one of our favourite places to eat
Cons: The mattresses in the rooms are a bit tired now need changing
5.8 Okay
Pros: Location was convenient for business trip. Room was good size as was ensuite bathroom.
Cons: Decor is tired - you can tell that at some point the owners had passion for this place but the motivation appears to have ebbed away. Small things count like rusty shower curtain rail, poorly painted walls, worn carpets. I think the line is ‘trying to provide the appearance of an old country inn but old doesn’t mean shabby uncared for. Attention to detail is important so strand of hair on the shower wall needs to be removed etc. Little things are important.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was perfect for my needs. Bed was comfortable and shower was excellent. Staff welcoming and good breakfast
Cons: Room was a bit ‘tired’ and a plastic shower curtain was a bit ‘seventies!!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were friendly enough. It’s nice and quiet.
Cons: I got to my room and it was totally freezing. The radiator was switched off. I turned it on but even hours later it hadn’t adequately heated the room. I used the hair dryer to warm the room a bit. I had to sleep with multiple layers on. Lights didn’t work in the bathroom and the carpets are seriously worn through in places. I am not massively fussy about hotels but this felt like a £30 a night hotel not £70. Sorry. Further I ate in the restaurant and the food was poor and very expensive. Sorry but if you charge gourmet food prices for a burger and chips it should be nice. It wasn’t.

Pros: Every thing very good
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a lovely stay. Greeted with cookies and the politeness of ALL staff - the pool was lovely and complimentary (was a steam room and sauna also) parking was only £5 for the night which was a bargain. Anything we was unsure on was explained clearly and nicely.
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were brilliant especially reception team. An amazing Jamaican lady who was fantastic when we arrived and our booking wasn’t on your system. A potentially very upsetting and embarrassing situation was turned into a highlight of the trip by this lady. A real asset!
Cons: Staff in restaurant in jeans- just didn’t look right! Obviously this is just my opinion. Pool changing facilities cold, dirty, no hairdryer, locker didn’t use new pound coins so I couldn’t use it.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The breakfast and the food in general were very good with lots of choice
Cons: The service at dinner was terrible,we had to ask for someone to take our order after sitting down and waiting for about 30 minutes when the food arrived some of it was missing and we had to ask for some water twice.
6.7 Good
Pros: Nice well presented Impeccable breakfast
Cons: A few of the staff were not very friendly, and one in fact to the point they were rude. When we checked in late evening on the Friday and the welcome we received wasn’t very welcoming to say the least. We didn’t want it to ruin our stay however so let it go.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location staff extremely friendly and helpful food in the restaurant excellent and excellent value valentines treat for my wife will definitely be returning next year
Cons: Nothing everything was excellent
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Thebar staff, room and facilities
Cons: The main person who sits you down at the restaurant, an asian guy. Very cheeky and rude
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Bed was very comfy and we loved having use of the leisure facilities after checkout.
Cons: Parking could be included in the booking price, and more vegan options at breakfast would be good (vegan sausages, vegan bacon etc.)

Pros: Large rooms.
Cons: There was a live band playing until gone 12am. Our room happened to be situated right next to the pub. It sounded like the band was in our room. I could her every word in the songs. So after a long day out at Bear grylls adventure this was the last thing I wanted to hear. The other really annoying thing was we are positive that while our car was parked in the side car park overnight our spare wheel was taken from under the vehicle as we drive a 4x4. We discovered this on returning home.

Pros: Very comfortable, the view excellent. Has all the amenities we were looking for.
Cons: Nothing.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel was really nice staff was helpful
Cons: Bed was uncomfortable
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The place is in the perfect location to explore Birmingham and Coventry. It has nice grounds with a golf club (which I don't play, but it's nice to look at). The staff were lovely and very helpful - food on site is excellent, not cheap but worth the money for sure. Very nice pool area - spotlessly clean. Free Parking, this is vital for us as we do a lot of driving.
Cons: Just one thing, we went swimming and wanted some hot tea but they would not let us have some as we had no credit on our room, not sure what that meant tbh but it would have been nice if 2 cups of tea could have been complimentary while swimming as you're paying £140 for a room - 2 cups of tea, cost would be under £1 so what's the harm in letting guests have 1 each while swimming?
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms are lovely, beds are comfortable,
Cons: Breakfast was hit and miss, first morning it was lovely 2nd it wasnt the best. It had been sat there for a while eggs were rock hard and things were cold.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nice restaurant and bar. Attentive waiters in restaurant . Polite staff.
Cons: Door handle kept falling off door in a superior room. Bed made poorly with poor attention to detail. Unsavoury odour in room. Didn’t like the way my query was handled when I questioned my bill. Didn’t like the way my account was used to take charges and had to phone accounts team to sort it out.

7.0 Good
Pros: The location is convenient for the NEC and travelling to the NW.
Cons: Rooms at the rear of the hotel overlook the lorry park and it's quite common for truck fridge units to run (noisily) all night. The cooked breakfast is quite good but you have to cross the footbridge to the other side of the motorway to Harry Ramsdens. The food options generally are pretty much fast food only unless you buy a pre-packed salad from M&S.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly Staff - room amenities were brilliant
Cons: Bed could have been more comfortable - Also had staff member walk in my room at 6 am as I hadn't been marked as in that room properly by the previous member off staff .

Cons: Unfortunately we arrived when the motorway was being worked on so a convoluted journey

Pros: Not much
Cons: Two plug sockets in room for 4 toilet didn’t flush properly both me and my friend woke up with bites room was dusty x
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Booked well in advance and got a good deal on the 'Business rooms'. These are good as they are at the front (rear facing can be a little noisy with the lorry car park out there - maybe more of a concern in the summer). Tea and coffee making equipment with mini-fridge (which had a free bottle of water and milky way in it). Comfy bed. Showers always great here! Late checkout at 11am. Ample (free) parking outside with good location off the M6 North of Coventry. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: If I was being ultra picky the toilet flush isn't great - you have to hold it in a long time with some pressure which some may find difficult.

Cons: There wasn’t anything I or my partner disliked
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old building, very cosy comfortable surroundings
Cons: We booked the Laurel Suite in the main old house but it was in fact only a room not a suit. Lovely but small. I mentioned at reception that we had booked a suite not a room but they informed me that all the named rooms are advertised as “suites” It was slightly disappointing but over all had a good stay.

Pros: Staff at reception were extremely attentive and helpful. Spa was great.
Cons: Room service food was quite poor. No dressing on the salad. Buttered vegetables had next to no butter or condiments and we and had to ask for several items which had been missed out a few times. Spa changing rooms were a bit crowded... Having a few board games available in the bar would be a plus.

Pros: We liked everything about our stay, the staff are friendly and helpful, we enjoyed the pool and golf. We also enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant, I'm vegetarian and the food was great. We would definitely go back.
Cons: The ladies changing room at the pool is tiny and outdated, as is the gym.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Room was nice, food was really good.
Cons: Not easy to find in the dark. For the breakfast there seemed to only be 1 person serving and we ended up with a long wait and I wasn't sure where I should sit etc. Maybe they were short staffed that day?
7.0 Good
Pros: Bed comfy, room queit
Cons: My Mum was put in a separate block where there was hen parties staying and a late night disco, so her room was very noisy. Waited too long for some bar meals to be served to us.

2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Bed ok, wi-fi ok, parking.
Cons: They didn't know we were coming as someone hadn't checked the bookings in the morning. We got two single grubby tatty tired rooms up on the top floor, size of room ok, no heating in bathrooms, cobwebs hanging from light, old and scuffed furniture, cold rooms as heating put on when we arrived. No atmosphere, receptionist unwelcoming, felt having breakfast (which was very overpriced for what you got) was a chore for them to provide. One room had an extremely below standard shower cubicle which could not be used due to the peeling paintwork on tiles and black mould, and a sink in the room rather than the bathroom. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS especially rooms 10 and 11.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Easy onsite parking , comfy bed, clean sheets god size room
Cons: Receptionist was not welcoming no please or thank you. NOISY! A band was playing what sounded like right underneath us it was very loud and went on until at least midnight. The room was a good size but stank of cooking, the sink was randomly placed in the corner and the TV up so high I got a crick in my neck.
7.0 Good
Cons: Under staffed at breakfast time. Better self service facilities would be helpfull

It wasn’t.

7.5 Good
Pros: Near to town amenities and a large car park that was free to park in.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location and setting was very unique and stylish. Breakfast was plentiful and well cooked
Cons: bath with shower overhead may prove difficult for those with limited mobility. A shower cubicle is easier to use with respect to getting into/out of
3.3 Mediocre
Pros: NA
Cons: The room was very musty coupled with a old cigarette smell, very dusty and had terrible yellow, dim lighting. Looked like something out of a Hitchcock film. I had arrived on a cold, rainy day and initially the heater was on, but by about 7pm or so the heater switched itself off and didn’t come back on for the rest of the night. Even though I tried to put it back on. The sheets were thin and the throw they had over the end of the bed didn’t look clean as their was a stain on it. (I took this off the bed immediately upon arrival) Tried calling reception to ask what time the bar was closing. The phone didn’t work. After three tries I ended up having to call reception on my own mobile. Receptionist was blazé about the broken phone and didn’t seem bothered about it. Probably not the first time she’s heard it wasn’t working. Didn’t bother to stay for breakfast preferred to be back on the road than stay a second longer at bronsover hall. Would not be staying again in future.
6.0 Good
Pros: Good sized bathroom
Cons: Noisy central heating. Poor atmosphere eg in the bar as few guests and staff.
4.0 Okay
Pros: The Hotel is ok but I feel that at the rate I was chaged it was poor value for money
Cons: I was charged over £130 for a room that I would expect to pay less than £100. They explained that this was because in times of high demand they increase the cost of the room. I feel, however that if they are going to do that they have to be judged against a hotel that can command that sort of price. I would have expected basics like bottled water, mini bar etc Also I would expext that the room would be in good condition but there was enamel missing from the bath, the carpet was grubby and even getting into the room wasn't easy because the lock was worn. I went to dinner and had to ask for bread with my soup. Then had to ask for butter. This is a hotel that tries to squeeze every last £ out of its customers. When I checked out they refused to provide a VAT receipt. So really the room cost is equivelent to £150 for the night. As a fairly seasoned traveller I feel embarrased to have been ripped off in this way. The hotel is OK, good location so don't be put off it you are looking for a basic hotel in a nice building. The staff are pretty good at what they do too but clearly the group management are not interested in building customer loyalty from frequent travellers like me. I will be very wary about going there again.
