Excellent 10.0
Pros: The breakfast was brilliant and tasty very filling. Room clean, fresh and beds comfy. Staff very accommodating, friendly and make your stay special.
Cons: We asked for quiet room and could hear bass music when trying to sleep, not loud enough to keep us awake though.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything - nothing was to much for staff, it was perfect from beginning to end. Will definitely recommend. 💯
Cons: That I could not stay there longer - staff were amazing, place was beautiful, food was fantastic.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: beautiful rooms outside terrace fabulous excellent lunch and dinner
Cons: breakfast was not as good as on our previous visit
Excellent 10.0
Pros: clean and tidy. staff were really friendly and helpful.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Nice room, good location, friendly helpful staff
Cons: There was a noisy party in a room near us but was hished just after midnight?
Excellent 9.0
Pros: We stayed in an executive room with balcony which was a great place to sit and have a drink in the sun. Lunch and dinner were also great, food was very tasty and the restaurants were lovely. And finally we had room service for breakfast which was a perfect way to end our stay.
Cons: The music in the restaurants didn't really match the theme of the hotel and the service was a little slow for dinner but I think that was due to them having a wedding party in.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Thank you for the room upgrade such a welcome surprise. Wifi and parking was definitely a bonus for us having made a long journey for an overnight stay.
Cons: Unfortunately in the bathroom the extractor fan was not operating. Unclear as to why there were additional charges for a cooked breakfast having already paid for breakfast in advance. We would have welcomed instructions as to the operation of the coffee maker.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: we were upgraded when we arrived and the room was lovely. The decor was beautiful and a nice quiet location. The restaurant is lovely with an outdoor terrace. we will definitely be coming back.
Excellent 10.0
Booked this hotel last January for 2 nights for my daughter's wedding but due to pandemic, cancelled 1 night of stay., and it was done easy by phone and refunded me the money straight away. I can say the hotel is excellent from location, staff, and service. The room is nice and I sleep in the bed comfortably. Very clean toilet and bathroom with good rain shower. Breakfast is really nice. The view from my daughters room is really beautiful. I will surely come back to this hotel. 5 star rating .

Excellent 10.0
Pros: The food was delicious. The facilities were amazing, especially the use of the pools. The room was a great size with a lovely view. All the staff were super friendly and approachable. Huge car park too. We were informed prior of an event that was going on, and this didn’t interfere with our stay at all. I appreciated being made aware.
Cons: X
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good breakfast, beautiful view from our room. Really friendly efficient staff.
Cons: The central heating really didn't need to be on in warm weather in mid May. The wine list was poor and the food too salty for our taste, good food spoiled!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Was our second time staying here, both times due to kids competing at Essex County Championships and was a lovely experience once again. Lovely grounds, rooms and breakfast 😋. Staff very friendly and helpful as always.
Cons: Dinner menu is a tad on the pricey side but was prepared for the cost lol!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: beautiful setting staff amazing
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Everything. Great location. Hotel was delightful and well kept. Beautiful grounds. Clean and tidy everywhere. Lovely pool (indoor and outdoor) plenty of areas to relax and enjoy food or drinks. Lovely food and staff were friendly. Plenty of parking. Hotel is easy to find.
Cons: Only one criticism of one member of staff. Female older lady, short grey hair. She was present for breakfast service on Thursday and Friday. She created an uncomfortable atmosphere by barking orders at the staff. Everything had been running very smoothly on the 2 previous days. When she arrived things were not so smooth despite her efforts to be 'in charge'

Excellent 10.0
Pros: old school BnB but homely feel to it. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay highly recommended
Excellent 8.0
Pros: The size of the room was perfect, clean, friendly staff, Good choice at breakfast and also offered an evening meal and was prepared to change the TV channel so i could watch the football
Cons: The shower in our bathroom was under a slope in the ceiling was very awkward to use, we had some squeaky floor boards and a area that did not feel very safe to walk on. The curtains needed to either be raised a little bit or a different pole used as it let in too much light in the mornings
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Good sized rooms, wifi works well in the rooms. There is a bar and small restaurant. Parking is a little tight for a van.
Cons: Reception and hallways are a little dated, nothing bad on the whole.

Excellent 9.6
Early flight on sunday so rather than get up too early this hotel was bang on. Clean, near the airport
Excellent 9.2
I was travelling to Brittany, France from Surrey, England. The train journey from Surrey to Southend upon Sea needs to be carefully creafted to avoid spending hours in the train and London underground. But when you have reached there, the hotel is 200 m from the airport train station and 100 m from the departure area. I arrived quite late and check in was quick and efficient. The hotel is brand new, and catering for that type of transit passengers, the restaurant closes at 10 or 11 pm but you do have a rooftop bar open till after midnight serving food. Extremly convenient.
Excellent 8.4
Nice n clean, friendly staff, next door to airport, good for early morning flight.
Okay 5.7
Pros: Location and modern feel
Cons: Air condition noisy and too cold. Staff not very friendly more matter of fact so didn’t make us feel special
Excellent 9.1
Pros: Ideal location for airport
Cons: Restaurant menu did not have any healthy options so went elsewhere

Good 7.0
Pros: room was good clean and tidy.
Cons: Room was very hot I opened the windows wide and slept with them open only to be woken at 6am by a delivery. noisy doors banging late at night
Excellent 8.0
Pros: It was a lovely stay very clean and comfortable. The only grumble is that it was too hot in the room.
Poor 1.0
Pros: Closeness to places to eat
Cons: The fact there was a radiator on that could not be turned off there was no fan in the room it was extremely hot and a plastic waterproof sheet on the bed. Munning was unable to sleep all night due to the heat in the room
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Breakfast was great, staff very friendly
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Not normally book a "Budget Hotel" but for the price this was exceptional. Not tried the Breakfast as we had an early start. Room was spotless and fresh. Super nice sleep. In the booking was warned about the live music and limited parking, however we managed to squeeze into the rear parking and watched telly to the early hours so not to be bothered by the music and party below. Overall, marvellous.
Cons: No lift ! Joking, the stairs gave much needed excessive.
Good 7.0
Pros: GOOD BREAKFAST. CLEAN AND TIDY. PEDESTRIANISED SO NO TRAFFIC NEAR. SUITED OUR NEEDS.
Excellent 9.2
My son and his mother stayed there and told me they were very happy with it.
Excellent 8.0
The front of the hotel rooms are quite large. They are clean and have all the facilities you would expect. The only thing I would say is that the shower was bit temperamental temperature wise. It is a family run hotel and they and the other staff are lovely and can't do for you. Get there before 11 p.m. or 10 p.m. on Sundays though otherwise you may not be able to gain access.

Good 7.0
Pros: close to shopping ideal location for city center
Cons: creaking noise from upstairs
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Quaint old building beside the river, only a stones throw from the city center, shops, cafes etc. Restaurant/pub/garden are all amazing. Food was fab and staff were ever so helpful and welcoming.
Excellent 9.0
Pros: a little quirky but lovely great night sleep lovely room great view
Cons: liked it all
Good 6.0
Pros: Location is perfect for getting into town.
Cons: The room had a green light that was permanently on. So although the room and facilities was perfectly fine, the light was bright enough to keep my wife up majority of the night.
Good 7.6
Everything was great until other guests decided to arrive. The floors sounded like they were in the room with me. But I guess that’s what you get with this type of room in a old building. Otherwise the place was lovely but the creeking floors was another to put me off re booking.
Excellent 9.6
The room was stunning. The staff were helpful Close to town centre
Good 7.2
Great value for money. Quirky and in a great location
Excellent 9.2
There are some really good points to recommend such as the large comfortable bed and the value for money. However what I didn’t expect was the lack of flexibility. My partner had to leave the festival we were at to go back and check in between the hours of 14:00 and 22:00. I requested an early check by message and after no response called. I was told they opened at 12:00 and they could hold our bags. On checking on Friday evening the response was a no. Notes to improve aesthetics; tatty instructions for the coffee maker and a brown oversized bed frame against a brown carpet led to stubbing toe several times. To finish, clean , nice decor, lovely towels but maybe think a little more about what customers may want and need.
Excellent 10.0
Lovely old watermill building! Beamed ceilings, huge room and massive bed! Friendly, helpful staff, lovely bar, restaurant and garden. Ideal location!
Excellent 10.0

Excellent 10.0
Clean and neat room. Good location, with shops close by. Short taxi ride from station.
Good 6.0
Very average hotel. The price included breakfast but would rather have not paid the extra and had it else where, wasn't the best to say the least. Rooms were clean but very basic, no hairdryer. Think it's very expensive for what you get.
Good 7.6
Convenient place to stay for a night with easy parking facilities. Room clean. Nice staff
Excellent 9.2
All staff so helpful, couldn’t do enough for us and we really appreciated their hospitality. Trains been replaced by buses affected our weekend but we enjoyed Chelmsford and our 5 night stay. Weather was excellent too.
Excellent 10.0
Nice friendly staff Very clean and tidy Good nights sleep
Excellent 10.0
Very nice hotel in a great location
Excellent 8.4
You can’t go wrong with Travelodge- reasonable price - clean n staff fab
Excellent 10.0
Great location for what I needed it for and staff were very helpful.
Excellent 9.6
Good location, clean, very good! Staff are very helpful and friendly would stay again.
Excellent 9.6
Had an issue the with the radiator not heating up properly but when I made a complain, I was moved to another room so I am happy with the care that was taken of me.
Okay 5.2
The room had a stain on the carpet. Looked like the room needed a lot off work done. Wasn't very clean. Beds uncomfortable. Room was very warm. Used towels wasn't collected and replaced even when put on to be done.
Excellent 8.4
room was a bit basic but it was clean and tidy
Okay 5.6
Not very clean at all in bathroom Moulding areas everywhere. Shower curtain black with fungus at the bottom.
Excellent 8.4
Good overall only downfall was slight drainage smell from the bath tub
Mediocre 2.4
Room was OK. I found a stain on the duvet cover. Also mold in the air vent in the bathroom. It cost £7.50 per night to park in the car park. I would expect that to be refunded buy the hotel tbh. I also had to put a sign on the door every morning for new towels and bin to be emptied and sugar an coffee to be refilled. Found this to be unsatisfactory as if your in a rush it wouldn't be done.
Good 6.4
The staff are very accommodating and friendly. The facilities are better than other branches, as there is a little restaurant and bar. You get what you pay for really, otherwise a little refurb wouldn't go a miss.
Good 6.0
The bed was fine which is the main thing. The room was spartan and so felt a bit unwelcoming/cold(metaphorically). It had a bed and a desk and a chair. No bedside tables. It just didn't feel like a nice room to be in. The bathroom mastic had unsightly black mould and the floor of the bath was quite dark and dirty looking too.
Good 7.6
Good place for an overnight stay. Had to pay for parking and for wifi. This was not so good and unexpected.
Good 6.0
Pros: Nice clean room at back of hotel ideally located near shopping and Frankie and bennys next door.
Cons: Breakfast was terrible. Went down at 8.30- no croissants or pastries, bread was just thin bought bread dried up. Fruit salad was nearly empty and didn’t look very good. Only spread no butter. No one to ask as receptionist busy doing other things. I paid £5.95 for a coffee and a slice of dry toadt(don’t eat spreads). For an extra £2 I could have gone next door for a full cooked plus pastries. Dreadful

Good 7.0
Pros: No breakfast because of Covid Free car parking close by Close to a couple of decent restaurants Tea and coffee in room. All clean
Cons: It was perfectly adequate for our needs
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Lovely location with a nice view from the balcony. Staff were very helpful.
Cons: Shared toilets
Good 7.0
Pros: views
Okay 5.0
Pros: The property was in a good location. very quiet but we were staying in early December.
Cons: This property didn’t live up to the photographs. An over powering smell of diffusers in the hallway and up the stairs. We booked a superior room but the bathroom needs some attention. Hook hanging off the door and the whole tap unit was not attached to the sink. Taking into account beds are not an easy thing to satisfy personal needs, feeling springs digging into me was not comfortable. The price for a one night stay was too high for a room that wasn’t up to superior standard. No one on reception to report problems.
Good 6.0
Cons: Advertised with breakfast, but there was none. Parking was pot luck, as on main road. Garden View was not very nice.
Mediocre 3.0
Pros: it was cold even with the heating on could even hear the wind blowing
Good 6.0
Pros: Location,tidy room,kettle,access
Cons: Shower room cold, heating not on,small washing basin
Good 7.0
Pros: Convenient, quiet, kitchen facilities would be good
Cons: Maybe a lounge area
Okay 5.0
Pros: The location, very convenient, the owner of the place, was very kind.
Cons: The room was not very large and the En-suite was very small. During the night we could hear other guests walking up and down in the corridor and someone by mistake tried to open our room door. I was sleeping deeply but my partner couldn't sleep all night.
Okay 4.0
Loo roll provided 1 roll at a time, felt a bit awkward asking for more (advise to take your own). Room was very very cold, bit moldy in places in the bathroom. Carpet stained in places. Lovely shower. Bed very comfortable. Lovely view 😃
Excellent 8.8
Was no problem when we asked to use room earlier than normal check in times as we were going to a christening. We were very grateful ,getting customer service .
Good 7.6
Was advertised on website as providing breakfast. Apparently the landlady said they hav,nt done breakfast for some time. Website needs updating.
Excellent 9.2
Clean and spacious with own private balcony. Would highly recommend.
Excellent 8.8
Lovely balcony and sea view . Plenty of teas and coffees and a nice touch with the table and chairs by the balcony . Only thing was the pillows were too soft

Pros: Good location
Cons: They had my booking but hadn’t allocated a room which was apparently an issue. I was then made to wait while the receptionist checked in a number of others. No sign of the manager. When I finally got the room sorted the window had broken so it was wide open all night!
Excellent 10.0
Pros: the view was amazing
Cons: one of the windows did not open
Okay 5.0
Pros: bed
Cons: shower broken window broken( can’t open) hair dryer not working hot water come after 5 min waiting
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Was closest to the sea front
Cons: N/a
Good 7.0
Pros: Nice view, close to everything
Cons: A little dated, carpets and bathroom could do with a refurb
Excellent 10.0
Pros: had a a family room with sea view, room spacious and clean, breakfast was exhalent hotel situated right next to town centre would definitely stay again.
Cons: took quite a while to book in even though booking was all done in advance
Good 6.8
The air conditioner seems not working well and we feel cold inside the room.
Okay 4.8
Let's keep this simple: have low expectations and you'll be impressed. 1. No free car park as advertised. 2. Staff couldn't care less if you are waiting to check in 3. No one practicing social distancing (generally in Southend as well) 4. Room - stained carpets, blood on sheets, no cupboards, balcony was locked and unusable. Only plus was the mattress was comfy and view was good. If you are expecting a nice, modern, sleek hotel: don't.
Excellent 9.4
Pros: Giving carpark discount for over night stay was helpfull. Good choice of breakfast buffet and very helpfull staff
Cons: The coldness of the room on arrival other that that the room was clean and comfortable with a seaview
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Rooms good size Beds Comfortable. Staff pleasant and helpful.Food very good ( and particularly for young children) near Adventure Island and the beachfront restaurants.

Cons: Food
Excellent 9.0
Pros: Nice comfortable room, short walk to the sea front and town. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: Very small shower. Kettle needed descaling so couldn't use it.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: clean and tidy close to all amenities
Cons: no complimentary shower wash or shampoo
Excellent 9.0
Pros: This is a very good hotel with great staff, nice rooms and a lovely area for breakfast.
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent, one of the best breakfast I’ve had.
Cons: The stairs
Excellent 8.0
Pros: Excellent location, 5 minutes walk from the centre and great to be able to park outside. Beautiful spot overlooking the sea and near the gardens. Nice that it has its own tea room (where a good breakfast is also served in the morning)
Cons: The bed in our ‘suite’ was tiny! We booked the suite as a family room, but unfortunately my husband couldn’t come with us and its a good job (with regards to sleeping) as our 9yr daughter and I struggled for space in the bed. An extra bed would have been made up for our daughter, but we had to pay an extra £30 for that if it had been needed, but there is no way too adults could comfortably sleep in the main bed.
Excellent 10.0
Pros: Friendly welcome, spotless, quiet and comfortable rooms, great breakfast. Good location. Highly recommended.
Cons: Nothing

Mediocre 2.8
Reception staff rude with no customer service skills, vile language used in front of patrons, dirty socks and flannel left in bathroom carpets disgusting and stained check in at 14:00 but was told room was not ready and couldn't give an estimate even of how long to wait so wanted 45min
Mediocre 2.0
Would have been good for PR if I had been able to use money paid for this booking to use another time
Mediocre 3.7
Pros: The staff seemed nice
Cons: Although it is not far from the airport, it is not possible to walk to the airport. I travelled on the train and had to get a taxi from the train and then in the morning back to the airport (c. £7.50 each way) . Consider this when compared to the other airport hotels. - The two big problems with the hotel were- 1. The carpet in my room was physically soaked by the door to the bathroom. I did not realise to just before I was going to sleep as I had my shoes on before. I left very early in the morning and there was nobody at reception to tell them in the morning. I had read a number of reviews saying that the place smelled like there had been a flood. It would seem to me that the issue is more fundamental, whether it's a plumbing or a ground water issue, there are some serious issues. 2. More annoying probably, the WiFi didn't work. I needed to do some work and had to tether to my phone to get any internet.
