Another great Sofitel property. The facility, food, etc., all top-notch. And staff could not be nicer ....
The rooms were nice, but our room had not been properly cleaned. There was an empty wine bottle in the trash, a stain on the carpet, and dirt on the bedspread. The location is great for exploring the city. A block from Michigan Ave, the beach, and Rush street. The customer service was not good. We waited 30-45 minutes for our bags to be brought up to our room and finally had to go down to get them. There were two bellmen standing in the lobby doing nothing and our luggage was just sitting there. As mentioned the room was not properly cleaned which is never a good feeling when you are staying in a hotel. I requested a late check-out and was immediately told "No due to someone else staying in our room and they needed to clean it". He then asked what room we were staying in. He again said it wasn't possible as someone was staying in that room and they would need to clean it. When we checked out I forgot a brand new shirt I bought while staying there. I rarely hang things in the closet and had done so since it was a new shirt. I realized this the next day and called and again was given horrible customer service. They told me it was not in the room and that nobody stayed in that room the night before so they couldn't help me. Obviously, the maid who cleaned that room took it, but they accepted no responsibility for that. Not to mention they couldn't give us a late check-out due to another guest needing the room. It's a shame the customer service was so bad because it is a nice hotel in a great area of the city.
The hotel was clean and the staff very nice and helpful. I didn't like the lack of parking specifics when booking the hotel. We were confused when we got there because there is a parking garage next to the hotel that the hotel uses but it was unclear if you go into the hotel to do this or just park in the garage.
The room was very small for the price. There was no place to put your clothes (no dresser). The room was a bit dirty. The elevators were extremely slow (but they had a sign stating that they were remodeling them so they became faster).
I took my 5 year old to see Chicago. I love the quiet of the hotel. The staff was great. You get what you pay for.
The food options were excellent. We had a very strange smell in our room and had to change rooms. The hotel did not offer any kind of discount for the inconvenience and it was our 10th anniversary, which they were aware of. I would expect more out of a hotel with its standards and reputation.
The bed is gorgeusly confortable Many problems with shower, room cleaning, front desk attendece, etc.
Every thing is good
Convenience of location, quietness of location, beds, comforters and pillows quite comfortable, staff quick to respond Bathroom: design flaw allows shower water to immediately drain onto floor, which has no drain; sink counter won't hold soap; inadequate # towel racks.
Located in the heart of Gold Coast, close to great food and shopping. Best value....
Nothing. Will not be back . Room and hall smelled of smoke . Rooms do not look like pictures - beat up furniture , old tattered carpets, needs deep cleaning and painting at the minimum . Not a 4 star property .
We had a bunch of rooms for this visit for my wife's birthday party. The staff went out their way to help to make it special night. The hotel and staff are great. We have stayed at this property several times and the only thing I don't like is when you are on the south end or by Chicago avid This street is very noisy compare to being on the north or east side of the building.
Was very disappointed with our stay here.. service was horrible ... called for towels twice and never brought them till we were ready to checkout... not happy at all with the cleanliness or bed situations !! The beds were hard and so small...
location - rooms - Having to pay for wifi
Rate and location. Nice bathroom fixtures and room furnishings Common areas are worn and tattered.. Looks tired and dirty Although I requested a non smoking room, my room smelled ,like smoke and needed to be deodorized
An architectural gem in downtown Chicago with old look but kept updated with modern amenities. It shows it's age sometimes but that is the charm of it. Just know that there is no lounge access for Hilton Gold members which is strange for a property with a lounge.
Location was great. Booked and paid for a King bed -- received a double bed. Hotel offered $40 off dinner at their in-house restaurant. Could not offer any other room accommodations - nothing with a view, not a bigger room, and not what I ordered and paid for -- a room with a King size bed. Slept uncomfortably most of the night. Separately, went to breakfast in the hotel and the windows were very dirty.
Could not have been happier. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and the bed and pillows were SO comfortable! No free wi-fi!
Children was annoying and running during 6am in the other room and made me didn't rest well.
This was our second stay at the Talbott. It has a great location, the rooms are large, and the staff is welcoming and efficient. We particularly like the cozy parlor areas with fireplaces. There was nothing we did not like.
Zero natural light , facing a wall .. I was told all rooms that are not suites are like this and face a wall . Long is beautiful but rooms are just mediocre Very dark rooms. No desks . Bad value . For the same price you can stay at much nicer hotels
The staff from the front door staff set the tone of excellence and was carried by all staff of this wonderful hotel! Excellent value and perfect location....will be back!
The location was excellent. Right off of Michigan Ave. The beds were comfortable. The hotel needs some updates. The only thing that made it 'Hip and trendy" was the decor. We could see the light from the hallway shining through into our room because the gaps between the walls and the door was ridiculous. It was a built in night light. No information about the hotel was in the room either. Didn't know who to call or where to get anything. Glad we didn't pay more than what we did. And by the way, the tacky, shiny, red wall paper in the bathroom was terrible. =]
