The lunch meals were the best I can remember in a long time on an airline flight. They might have been the best I've ever had. The chicken curry was authentic, flavorful and spicy. Frankly my outbound flight had problems. My luggage got damaged. The transfer experience in Manchester left a LOT to be desired. I wasn't planning to use Virgin Atlantic again, but this flight crew (Daniella especially) redeemed Virgin Atlantic. They were attentive, pleasant, diligent."

Cons: "A couple things went wrong on this trip, my checked luggage got misplaced for a day, and a nice women in baggage claim told me what was happening and a nice man handled my claim and my bag has now been returned to me. The bigger thing is my flight bas delayed taking off by 3 hours. Let me start that I would rather have a part replaced on the runway then not, safety is paramount. The fact is my flight took off 3 hours late from London (VS11), and got to my destination (BOS) 2.5 hours late. Kudos to the flight crew for getting me to my destination faster by gaining a little time. Plus, since BOSTON was my final destination it was all fine this time. But if I had had to get home to the elder person I take care of or my teenager it would been a problem. Again, I'm annoyed, but I do understand the reasons and they are valid and preferred. I have heard that airlines to keep their flight rating high, wait for planes to leave the gate on time and then do repairs on the tarmac. If this is still a SOP for airlines you should change the way the statistics are collected and figure out a way of not perpetuating this type of disincentive. This is just hypothesis on my part, and my whole trip had little negatives."

Or a salad swimming in dressing. We need to eat protein, not gluten for breakfast. Why not a hard boiled head!"

The handling of the cancellation was terrible on both the Chinese Eastern and Indian airport official's side. Communication was slow and spotty, and this caused much stress and loss of time for the passengers. After repeated calls to the customer service center, it was discovered that China Eastern didn't even know the status of their own flights, as the computer systems didn't reflect the changes. I was passed to different customer service representatives being on hold for over an hour. Finally, It took 7 hrs to go from cancelation until we got to hotel, from 1am until 8am. During this time, passengers were repeatedly corralled in cold location and no refreshments were offered. The following day, the confusion continued as China Eastern and the Indian Air Port Officials passed blame and communication broke down between the passengers. At no point were all the parties concerned briefed on the plan, so people were left wondering and not sleeping during the time at the hotel. Finally a Chinese national called the Chinese embassy of Delhi, and the Chinese government stepped in and got us a flight out. China Eastern's denial of responsibility, lack of internal communication, and lack of Chinese Eastern ground support in Delhi made this flight experience the worst of my life. Some how I would like a full refund for the return portion of the trip."
Cons: "They changed the flight schedule during the last few days. Their phone lines don't work, either they don't pick up or all they speak is Chinese. The airport staff is mind-bogglingly uncooperative. They didn't even offer me a hotel for the 21 hours layover I was forced to endure. No one had proper answers; they were just sending me from one desk to the other till I gave up and slept at the airport itself."

I do understand that being 6'5" causes air travel to be more difficult. It just seems that some airlines are more accommodating than others."

My baggage claim ticked showed that. When I got to PVG Pudong airport in Shanghai my baggage was not there they were not very helpful and difficult to understand. They told me they thought my baggage would come ther on another flight and gave me a form. By the next evening I had not heard from them. I emailed them again and I'm currently in Japan waiting to see if they will send me my luggage. Do not expect the kind of customer service in China as you would in the US or Japan.Shanghai airport is, at best, difficult to navigate...stay away from all the taxi solicitors."

The food was atrocious, the media system was broken, there was not wifi, and they did not allow the use of cellphones the entire duration of the flight even in airplane mode. The ground staff was completely unhelpful. I was barely able to secure an alternative flight home after about a half hour of negotiating. I don't think I could have got the flight at all had I not spoke Chinese. None of the other foreign nationals were able to get a new flight. The flight they put on back home had to stop in Hawaii and cost me a good extra 8 hours. I got home 12 hours later than I had anticipated. I am filing for compensation. What a joke. Air China shouldn't even both with international flights if all their domestic flights are delayed and they are barely able to help customers speaking their native language (to say nothing of English)."

Not sure whom the blame for the delayed flight lies with, but the time gap between the two flights was only an hour, and this delay added about 12 hours to my journey, including a forced stay in Beijing. While the airline provided free accommodation and assisted in changing the flight, this error should not have happened at all in the first place. I guess I knew this possibility existed when I booked the flight, but I was hoping the airline would be competent enough to avoid it."
