I would rate my experience this time as poor. My baggage got lost and when I tried to contact Customer Service they were keep telling me to call international numbers (Dubai and India). Submit my request over email and this is taking forever for them to respond back. My trip was for 25 days where I end up doing new shopping for myself. So far there is no response and no idea if they are going to send me my compensation as I lost all my new clothing and gifts what I bought from US for my relatives. Worst experience this time what I was never expecting from Etihad.
Meal quantity was very less.
Fare difference was really bad almost double than my regular fare never fly again
Associate at Delhi airport was not friendly at all and kept stating that she could not help with seat selection for connecting flight from Abu Dhabi. Even if this is true ?? her continuing to state that this would come at a charge ( just to get a aisle seat) did not help.
I had a senior citizen travelling with me in business class while I was travelling in Economy. The return trip from Chicago was okay. However, the ground crew need proper training and need to ensure proper handling of passengers who have special needs. There were two people who needed wheel chair access including my mom. While they got a wheel chair for a person whose travels ended in Abu Dhabi, they did not accomodate for my mom who needed wheel chair access as well. They wanted her to walk instead. They made a big deal in providing wheel chair access to her and only provided the wheel chair once we strongly complained about it. This was also an issue as the plane was not connected via a jetway and was connected with stair cases. They were informed previously that my mom needed wheel chair access through out her trip. It was just a general lack of planning on Etihad's part. The flight was delayed due to technical issues as well and we left 30 minutes late. In addition, my mom was requested the Asian Meal and she was informed that the Asian Meal was not requested in business class. This was deplorable as she was unable to eat much on the flight from Abu Dhabi to Chicago. All in all, the business class experience was not great and would consider other airlines who could do a better job in handling special requests. The departure flight from Chicago was a different experience and the crew on the oubound flight from Chicago was extremely helpful and provided food choices that my mom enjoyed. That was thee epectation from Etihad on our return. However, the ground crew and the in-flight crew were more mediocre in providing the service. My mom did not sleep well on the flight as well and did not have much appreciation for the in-flight entertainment. For a business class expereince, the expectations were higher. However, the experience turned out to be more mediocre.

I had a carry on bag, which I had been using in all other airlines as carry on for last couple of years and never was told that the size is not right. I was asked to either check in carry on as extra baggage and pay $300 or put my carry on stuff in my other checked in baggage and pay extra for over limit $120. And I have to trash my carry on of $80 value. I was not at all happy. I noticed in the flight so many passengers have the same size carry on, which I have to trash. On my return journey from Delhi to Abu Dhabi I was talking to a woman in the security line, who was sharing the same experience and she told me that they charge her $400 for one extra suitcase. To me that was shocking as how come I was asked $300 for extra checked in bag and she was charged $400. No idea what kind of policies Etihad has for extra baggage. I would like Etihad management to pay attention to the airport staff dealings with customers."

I had previously checked with the consolate at my destination and there was no such requirement. Upon arrival, there was no concern whatsoever about having a through ticket. I know she was just doing her job, but this caused a lot of unnecessary stress."

However, near the end of my flight I went to the bathroom and noticed there were MANY open seats with more than a handful of people that had a whole row to themselves. I wonder where she got her information because what she shared with me was totally false and I am totally appaled. Also, very, very long lines to check in taking more than one hour to get boarding tickets. It is freezing on both planes."

Cons: "If you look my itinerary, I left Flint to Delhi with my wife-Rita Bhatnagar. She did return on October 25th but I was suppose to return by Nov. 24th. Unfortunately, my wife injured her back while liftin gher luggage at Flint air port on October 25th and few days latter she end up in ER Hospital. I had no choice but to return back home, so I called Etihad customer service for reschedule my trip back to Flint. They asked me so much money that I had no choice but find another flight (cheaper) from United Airlines. So, answer to your question is that I didn't travel from Delhi to Flint on Etihad Airlines."

Initially I was told the cost would be $100 ad then it ended being $600 for both me and my husband which I found outrageous. There should be something that flags you as soon as you book the flight that a VISA is required in order to fly to India."
