Pros: The hotel is beautifully appointed, with large rooms featuring marble bathrooms, mechanic curtains, exceptional service, and a stunning view of the gardens and pagoda. It seems that it is a wedding destination, with a storybook setting. For Tokyo, the price was a good value for the size of room and luxurious setting, the reason is the location isn't as central and train access isn't as readily available as many other luxury hotels. I was there for business travel, but this would be a suitable location for a romantic trip.
Cons: It didn't bother me to walk up the hill from the subway station. But, the ten minute walk from the subway is the only negative I can identify with this hotel.

Pros: It's a uniquely beautiful hotel. There is no other with such beautiful, serene and peaceful grounds. The staff are exceptionally gracious and hospitable. It is wonderful to come back here after a busy day in very busy Tokyo. It is a short walk to a very good, family owned sushi restaurant near Edogawabashi station.
Cons: The restaurants, while good, are very expensive. And there are not many options that are close. On the other hand, taxi service is convenient.

Pros: The hotel property itself is nothing short of beautiful. The rooms have great views of the city and the expansive garden which is a oasis in the middle of the sprawling Tokyo metropolis. The staff is always prompt and friendly and ready to accommodate anything you may need.

Pros: Excellent hotel with excellent service. Only after I had checked-out and arrived at the airport over an hour away did I realize I inadvertently left some very important items in my room. The staff at the hotel was extremely patient, kind, and went out of their way to send the items to us via their airport bus service at no cost to us. If not for housekeeping, the front desk, and guest relations coordinating the delivery and finding people that spoke our language to communicate with us, as well as the airport's helpful staff watching out for the right bus for us, we would have been lost. Special thanks to Mayumi Okuma-san. That's what I call superior service. I will always be grateful and will definitely stay at this hotel whenever I am in Tokyo.
Cons: Free in-room wi-fi would have been a nice touch for the hotel because every other hotel we have stayed at in Tokyo and other major cities offer it for free, but the 500 yen per stay is still tolerable.

Pros: The location was exceptional. Incredibly centered and in a quiet section of Ikebukuro where you could truly get anywhere in a short time. Anyone with a JR Rail Pass will really benefit if you can get a spot here. The hotel otherwise is a little smaller than what the pictures on the website allude, but its not a big deal if you are out and about travelling.
Cons: The concierge and the front desk left a lot to be desired. Don't bother asking them for much help unless its something fairly simple.

Pros: I like that they have bus service to and from both Tokyo airports (Haneda and Narita). This is very convenient. I also like that it's very close to the train station. Very convenient location overall and rooms are very nice and clean.

Pros: The rooms are clean, the place is fine, the service is great. They don't skip a beat. The room safe is really convenient.
Cons: Here's the thing, I stay in Tokyo a few times a year. The prices here are expensive for rooms this small. As for the breakfast, it's catered to Japanese travelers with food that I really can't put down in the morning. No whole wheat bread, no espresso coffee, not enough fresh fruit.

Pros: My boyfriend and I stayed there for nine nights and were able to explore easily. Locations such as Akihabara, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, Shibuya, and a lot more are a short train ride away and with the train station so close it was easy to get around. Lots of shops, restaurants, and arcades within walking distance of the hotel.

Pros: Very convenient location. Good Cleanliness and provode good quality shower gel and shampoo.
Cons: Unfriendly male front desk staff (no smiling face). We came with 2 families and 5 small kids, they were making some noise and chasing around at the lobby while we were checking in, one male staff warned us this was not appropriate. Yes, I respect the reminder but expect a more friendly approach. And I believe if the hotel allows to have children to stay in, they should anticipate how children behave. It was our first day arrival, with such unfriendly approached, it really spoilt our mood.

Cons: The hotel is v old , no internet connection at all. The hotel offered free wifi in the lobby area, however , it was impossible to get connected. This is unacceptable in my point of view. The room is extremely small and basic , however , i think it is very standard in toyko.

Pros: Our stay at APA Sugamo was was very comfortable! We had a great view and the bed was perfect! We appreciated the cheap laundry on site and the bath on the upper floor. The staff was very friendly and attentive.
Cons: The breakfast was a little too expensive for the selection of foods. Not enough breakfast type foods. There weren't enough pillows and the ones available were too flat. Some instructions on how to use the air conditioning and heater in English would've been helpful. Aside from this we really enjoyed our comfortable stay.

Pros: Humble, great value for what we paid, just enough room to be comfortable. Love the microwave and room amenities. Bathroom a bit small, but that's any Japanese style bathroom for that size of a space. Will recommend for short stays, max a week or two.
Cons: Bed was a bit hard for my personal comfort, but could be ok for others. Step up bathroom was kind of high getting into, same with the bathtub.

Pros: The bed was good. I slept very well. The location is near a huge railway station and underground market. Also they will give you a bottle of water every day after bed making.
Cons: The "Ikebukuro North Area" is a dangerous area with lots of adult services and yakuza. You will never want to stay here anymore unless the dark side of the city is what you want to experience. Also, it is far from all major sightseeing spots. To save your time (and money) it is better to stay at the east side of Yamanote Line. Their internet is also bad. It has rate limit to all Google websites including YouTube, it is even not possible to use Google Maps normally. I finally set up a VPN to a Japan server and everything was fine.

Cons: Was auto booked into the smoking room so everything was very stinky... The room was tiny based on the price of the stay. Appliances very outdated but in working order. Not the best first impression of Tokyo.
