Pros: We were delighted with room overlooking the garden and fields. The breakfast was delicious and there was an excellent choice.
Cons: No shower curtain, which meant it was difficult to keep the floor dry

Pros: Warm welcome and lovely meal in the restaurant. Cosy room and all round good value. Nice touches in the room like plenty of teabags and milk, homemade biscuits, honesty box of snacks and nice toiletries. Food in restaurant was excellent for the price.
Cons: It was a shame breakfast didn’t start until 8 as generally need an early start when travelling for business. Unusually late start for a weekday.

Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We are three sisters who had 3 rooms, we stayed 2 nights, first time in Suffolk. We chose the location to have a relative join us at The Case for a luncheon catch up. We enjoyed a friendly welcome from Barry who escorted us to our rooms, which exceeded our expectations for the room rate. In the rooms was a lovely basket of goodies, on an honesty box basis. Also lovely gratis home made cookies on a daily basis. We were greeted by the lovely, warm hearted host Linda, for our evening meal. Linda was very attentive and made us feel at home straight away. Lunch with our relative was perfect, plus we then moved to the very comfortable conservatory/deli area where it was like home from home, we sat and chatted for hours, with Linda checking if we had everything we wanted. The food and service experience for our whole stay was exceptional (especially the freshly squeezed orange juice, a rare treat). Well done Linda and Barry, am amazing couple, we really enjoyed our stay with you and will definitely revisit you again. Barry's cooking and home made bread and cakes were all of a five star standard and delivered with a smile. We did not want to leave, The Case is an absolute gem, hats off to Linda and Barry. xx
Cons: Having to leave, we wanted to say longer.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a wonderful stay. We had the upgrade to the jacuzzi room and everything was top quality and clean. We then had a meal in the evening - 23rd December and it was perfect - roaring fire, delicious home cooked food and lovely service with Linda and Barry making us feel part of the family. It’s been running for over 30 years and we can see why!
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.

Pros: Always a pleasure to return
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are honestly priced and clean. The owner (I assume she is) is approachable and straightforward. The breakfast is excellent (Pay £ 5 extra). The Angel Inn very close by has very good food and the staff are kind and welcoming.
Cons: It is not the easiest place to find. Ignore your Sat Nav. It is within a few yards of the Angel Inn. Where it is located the main street narrows and there is no pavement on the side at the entrance to reception and parking. There is some additional parking space adjacent to the property where there is currently some scaffolding.

Pros: Tom. The sitting room with Vino and spirits to help relax after a journey. An honesty box to pay for tipple very trusting and makes one feel appreciated. Honey the Labrador very sweet. Nice to see people stay somewhere dogs are welcome, thank God some places are still civilised. Place spotless. Lovely feel of a home, family photographs trappings of history and personal items make it really really homely. Breakfast fab.
Cons: Did not appreciate the photographs showing hunting big game, disgusting, times gone by yes, but still disgusting, quite unforgivable, NOT to be celebrated, put a damper on the stay for us. Stable bed room TOO HOT overnight.

6.7 Good
Cons: We felt the food was very expensive one of the deserts was not eatable told waiter there was no response. A sorry would have been better than nothing although the cost should have been taken off of bill.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for 1 night. We had a lovely room with a sitting area and the dogs were well catered for (they even got a little goody bag on arrival). The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There were some lovely country walks nearby and the hotel was right in the middle of Lavenham so there were plenty of places to eat if you didn't want to eat at the hotel. The food in the Brasserie was very good and the service was of a high standard. Comfortable bed and we both slept well.
Cons: The room was on the main street - it wasn't too noisy but there was some traffic noise in the evening and morning. The bathroom was pretty small - it was very nicely done but ideally I would have liked a bigger bathroom. The hotel don't provide any mats or beds for the dogs so we had to use to the towels they had given us to dry them off as beds.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really comfortable and welcoming hotel. After a walk around Lavenham we enjoyed afternoon tea sitting on a comfy sofa by the open fire. Dinner was excellent.

Pros: Nice size rooms. Tasteful furnishings.
Cons: Nothing. It’s fab
6.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was good - food generally was very good. This is a pub with rooms - don't expect hotel facilities. We stayed at Christmas when EVERY square inch of the place was given over to eating xmas lunch - there was nowhere to sit except at your designated table or to go to your room - it would have been nice to have had somewhere to relax after lunch - probably better to be here in the summer. Service for xmas lunch was excellent - thank you! Ellen?!
Cons: We didn't complain because it was Christmas but.... 1. Cleaning was dubious - sweet wrappers on the floor of the room (not ours!) Random hair grips too! Tiles on wall by bath in shower area had a lot of scum on them.... No bathrobes....or even a chair to sit on... 2. Lukewarm reception from manager of our puppy (which had been pre-booked in as they say they welcome dogs on their website).... "dogs not allowed in the restaurant" Well ok ..and we didn't particularly mind but that's where breakfast was set up Xmas and Boxing day and it wasn't as if there were carpets in the restaurant that could be ruined... his attitude -especially Boxing day morning - rather annoyed me.. but the other manager was lovely and let us use the restaurant for our breakfast thankfully. BTW our puppy was beautifully behaved! 3. Rooms were extremely small - check the size before you go if that would bother you. There was nowhere to sit (apart from the bed) or even to put out makeup etc. We had room 8 and every time the next door room switched on their shower, the pump (I guess) made it sound as though Concorde was about to take off in our room ! 4. It wasn't particularly cold during our stay unfortunately, so that was probably why the log fires were not kept going all afternoon and evening - which was a shame as it gives such a lovely atmosphere - dead fires are not very cheery. I think my expectations of this place were too high, as I had relied on the reviews - if I hadn't had such high expectations it would have been fine. It was ok but we would not book this place again.
10.0 Excellent

Cons: Pub sign being illuminated all night and shining in the bedroom

Cons: The pressure for shower was poor.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely hotel and great breakfast. Staff were friendly and the room was comfy
Cons: Although the jellybabies are a great treat I did miss the lack of biscuits
7.0 Good
Pros: The staff were just superb, very friendly, professional, and nothing was too much trouble. The dining area was spacious and well laid out while the food was excellent in terms of quality, quantity and service.
Cons: This is a very old building in keeping with the rest of Cavendish. We found our bedroom (No.4) and the ensuite in need of major renovation and a lot of TLC. Space was tight and one of the bedside lights did not work, and, in the very small ensuite bathroom, the shaving mirror did not work and the shower screen leaked water onto the floor. If the other bedrooms/ensuite are in the same state, a lot of work, and money, is needed for improvements.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The food was amazing
Cons: All perfect

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great restaurant with lovely atmosphere and good food.
Cons: Noise from an adjoining room, which we complained about twice & our sleep was disturbed. However, the hotel did give us financial compensation and an apology.
5.0 Okay
Pros: The food
Cons: Very cramped, dirty tiles, the price
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Excellent facilities, very efficient and knowledgeable staff
Cons: The check in time of 1430, I feel is a little late. Having said that considering the size of the hotel it’s not surprising. I didn’t let this affect my rating.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was exceptional and fully met expectations bearing in mind that we booked a suite. Equally, the main course at dinner was excellent - steak and skate wing.
Cons: Strange that neither of us could find a starter we wanted on either the bar or restaurant menu...…...the mushroom frites had been taken off the menu (highlight of previous visit)! We ordered breads to share, some of which were doorstops with minimal butter and two bowls of non-descript oil (tasted like cooking oil) - certainly didn't smell or taste of olive oil, and no balsamic vinegar. Table service was below par and we lost interest to the point that we elected not to have dessert (informed staff at time). Another small quibble - surely a complimentary bottle of water in the room is not too much to ask when you are paying £140 for the night. £1.95 extra.

Pros: Yes all good....quick and enjoyable...
Cons: It may seem a strange comment , but the lighting was all very low - winter mood effect! Applicable for the season - but particularly in the room,no light was strong enough to easily read a newspaper or book. I would have preferred a reading light rather than a bed side lamp which simply wasn't good enough.

Pros: Location, friendliness, food.
Cons: I asked for consideration that I had mobility issues , but our room had uneven steps down into the bathroom which were difficult, especially at night. The room, however, was delightful.

Cons: Friendly staff but not enough of them
7.0 Good
Pros: Helpful friendly staff, comfortable room where everything worked.

Cons: The bedrooms are poor there was black mould on the wall and the welcome tray is poor and not well stocked

We then had a meal in the evening - 23rd December and it was perfect - roaring fire, delicious home cooked food and lovely service with Linda and Barry making us feel part of the family. It’s been running for over 30 years and we can see why!
Cons: There was nothing we didn’t like about the property.
