10.0 Excellent
Pros: John and Barbara have put an immense amount of time and effort into the decor and the service was the best I've had the pleasure of experiencing in Brighton. (I've been coming down for 10 years) The breakfast really is perfect. It's also nice to be able to watch the chef cook! I will be staying here for as long as John and Barbara are at the helm! 10/10.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable place to stay - lovely bed! Friendly owners/staff
Cons: No parking available at the hotel. Had to get a parking permit and then find a space. When we booked (and to be fair I didn’t look into all the details) it said there was parking so I assumed it would be free and at the hotel. I didn’t realise we had to pay for a parking permit until I looked into the detail after booking.

Pros: What a lovely hotel. Attention to details made it feel like it was much more luxurious and expensive. Tasty cooked breakfast and lovely hosts.

Overview Reviews

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Richard was very welcoming and shared great food plans. The room was spacious and very nice decorated. The building was very quiet. Hearing the sea from the room was fantastic.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The location.
Cons: The room was smaller than expected, it's actually a bathroom with a bed and a flat screen, the extractor fan didn't work, instead it let the air in, and there was barely any WI-FI signal. The owner said that the room service will be cleaning the room around 11:00 AM but they came knocking on my door at 5:45 PM I could hear every whisper out side the room even if they standing at the reception, and for sure every word I spoke was heard outside The owner was fussy about the bag touching the walls, or putting it under the bed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed for the weekend and it was perfectly situated to see Brighton, close to the beach and pier. The Lanes are only a quick stroll away with a selection of great places to eat The room was very clean and well presented and Richard, our host, was lovely and very helpful about places to see and where to go in Brighton
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: V friendly host, lovely hotel
Cons: Rather too many stairs, lol
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love our room and for the price, you really can't go wrong. The receptionist was also very lovely to chat with and made sure we had what we need for our stay. Overall, really happy with our stay!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We were so lucky as we got an upgrade due to a cancellation and the room that we got upgraded to was a room that I was looking at but was booked! It was a pleasant surprise tbh. It was quiet which is perfect for a getaway. I loved that the Guesthouse was secure and not anyone can walk in and out of it. Would love to come back to it.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: They were very informative and good. The bedroom was quite big and in good order. It actually took some time for us to see all the furnitures and pictures and mirrors on the walls which was more artistic and the wood carvings on the bed and other places were actually appreciable. A good taste of decoration in and around. We enjoyed the stay.
Cons: Everything was good
5.8 Okay
Pros: The decor, the bed was really comfortable. The hospitality they both provided was really nice made us feel welcome.
Cons: It said it had a view which was a lie, it was only slight view of the sea as 80% of it was the veiw of the building in front. It was quite cold, heating didn’t warm up that well. The shower drain kept getting flooded which was disgusting.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The host, Richard, was very friendly. During our arrival, he showed us his recommendations of what to visit in Brighton.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: I really loved this hotel! I don’t think I’ve given a 10 out of 10 but I changed hotel to this one on a whim from a Kemptown one down the road at the same price with such hard mattresses and slightly claustrophobic atmosphere.. then arriving at Una my room Lossie at was so divine and the complete opposite... so clean, soft and dreamy mattress, lovely warm staff, the view of regency square and open bright cosy retro feeling of the room design, beautiful eggs Florentine breakfast, accommodating my local family who will be going back for more in the meantime! Do Treat yourself to this lovely hotel.. this made me love Brighton as an English holiday destination again. Even in bleak end of January! Thanks hotel Una! I am well rested and recharged x
Cons: Can’t think of anything!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: What a beautiful hotel! Pure luxury! The bed was so soft, the bath was divine and the space was so uplifting and inspiring. I highly recommend and would love to come back again when next in Brighton. Staff went out of their way to be helpful!
Cons: I could hear the TV in the room next door in the next hotel quite a bit, which was a pity, Breakfast was great, some more organic and dietary options would be great

Pros: We were upgraded which was great
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Property is perfectly located in the centre of Brighton. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spotlessly clean and a good size. If we did ever come down to Brighton again then we would definitely see if they had availability first.
Cons: Parking can be an issue and it’s zonal so you will need to purchase a permit from guest house priced at £10 per day. We ended up parking on another street as we couldn’t get outside the guest house, but this is no way the fault of the owners.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The Aquarium Guest House is located very close to the sea front and Pier. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A well stocked breakfast basket with fruit, serial bars and biscuits everyday. Excellent, service highly recommended
Cons: Parking can be a bit difficult at times, but you can buy daily permits from the Guest House. Once you have found a parking space, it's best to stay put until you depart.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the fruit etc left for own breakfast in room. I liked the unobtrusiveness of the owners who at the same time were very welcoming and friendly and I thought the room was serviced very well.
Cons: Nothing really
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We visited friends in Brighton from September 28 - October 7th and Aquarium House was centrally located for everything we wanted to do around Brighton. Brighton Train station was a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute Uber ride. Nice restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Our hosts, Helen and Scott, were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was lovely, always clean and quite roomy, even had large wardrobe to hang our clothes and store our suitcases. If you are looking for a guesthouse close to the seafront in Brighton, I would highly recommend Aquarium House.

8.8 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location as it is far enough out to be quieter but for us close enough to walk to any restaurants , shops etc. I wouldn't say that it is close enough for less able people to get to places though. The hotel itself is nice clean and our room was very spacious but we did book a superior to have extra space. We had a kingsize bed which was lovely and comfortable and the bathroom was adequate too. Breakfast was nice and I am sure if there was something that you requested you would only need to ask.
Cons: The only suggestion we would have is something very simple and that is to have either a small bar of soap or a hand pump soap to use after using the bathroom or for myself to use after I had put hair products on causing my hands to be sticky.

Pros: Staff were extremely friendly. Will definitely come back

Cons: Nothing.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Room was clean
Cons: Central heating was not available to us when we wanted it. Hot breakfast at 9:30am was not hot or particularly tasty. Shower taps were unusable for anyone with limited hand strength. Harassed at checkout time. Staff were not knowledgeable regarding the area. Parking should be included for the price charged. Room had no ventilation and the floor was damp near the windows. Pros: The decor of the place is amazing. Sanded doors, old architecture, tasteful furniture.. a piece of the West Pier! The two staff we met were genial hosts and breakfast was lovely. Our room had a bath which was a joy at the end of a busy day. Love the location - lived in Brighton for many years and always wondered what it would be like to stay on Regency Square.
Cons: The only things I could say are that there isn't a lounge/bar area and that the bedsheets didn't fit the mattress so became uncomfortable to sleep on. Otherwise a great place.

Pros: Lovely well kept rooms with everything you would expect. Always a warm welcome and everything you need available for breakfast. Great location and it is ideal for parking as there is a secure car park next door.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Really close to the seaside, and the staff were amazing from the first moment I stepped inside. Smooth reception service, bonus muffins and snacks, and an amazing healthy breakfast in the morning.
Cons: It was really cold in the room at night, and the view was a bit sad. But we didn't spend a lot of time in the room so it wasn't a big deal in the end.

Pros: Excellent accommodation, rooms have plenty of room, modern bathroom and excellent breakfast. We had a twin, double and triple room, 7 ladies aged 51 to 74. We all enjoyed our stay.

Pros: Quirky, sexy and so much fun. We loved it! Spent most of the night in the bath!!
Cons: Nothing!!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Love this place, and have done for many years. It's kind of become a 'second home' for me when I'm in Brighton (not as frequently as I'd like, these days). And if, like me, you love your music, you'll be more than happy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Good location to local shops. Quirky hotel with lots of character. Breakfast is plentiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very last minute booking, room was large and clean, bed was comfortable and staff friendly
7.9 Good
Pros: We love the quirkiness, individuality and welcome of the Pelirocco, including the complimentary curly wurly bars in the room. Although we didn’t get to have breakfast on this occasion, the smell as we were leaving got the tastebuds tingling!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Little homely touches. Breakfast was outstanding.
Cons: Feeling the join of the 2 single beds pulled together.
7.0 Good
Pros: The owner and staff were lovely. Very hospitable and welcoming. The room was a decent size and well furnished and we had a fridge and were provided fresh milk for teas and coffees in the room. The bathroom had been recently refurbished and was very modern and clean.
Cons: Unfortunately the bed had definitely seen better days and was pretty uncomfortable. The mattress had a very noticeable dip in the middle and towards the edge where people had sat on it and worn it down. The room we stayed in had a TV which was useful for bedtime but the friends we stayed with didn't have one.

Cons: Nothing

3.0 Mediocre
Cons: Young men at the reception at my arrival very friendly, all others need training (e.g. the one responsible for breakfast). Hotel is worn out, rooms, carpets, paint, no heating in the bathroom (morning), was freezing cold. Breakfast is for a 4 Star not acceptable and very poor. On my depature I was told, that the rate was already debited on arrival - without my knowledge/authorisation.... Prepayment in a 4 Star Hotel a new experiance.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Room had a nice size, bathroom was not heated (again)
Cons: 4 Star Hotel with worn out carpets / paint etc. Prepayment ...? Without given a receipt... Question of a possible redcution was denied (had to leave very early because of the storm and no chance of a breakfast) - no reduction and no food bag... nothing. Very unflexible. Not even been adviced to park the car somewhere safe (big trees in the car park and a major storm was due to arrive) Bathroom was cold, room not really heated...
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location close to Castle on High Street. Grade 2 listed building dates 1611. Steeped in history. Shelley family home related to the famous PB Shelley poet. Staff very friendly.
Cons: Room 20: Insufficient hot water for a shower never mind a bath. Told to wait 20 minutes but after an hour still could not complete my shower. Breakfast was tasty but salad served was yellow and withered?!
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely old Manor House with lots of character, friendly staff, parking and in walking distance of all the towns attractions. Breakfast was good too. Picture shows view from our room with castle in the background
Cons: Nothing. Though with old buildings what we call “character” some may say “needs updating”
5.0 Okay
Cons: Mildew or mold in the bathroom (see pics). The smell was noticeable in the other parts of the hotel room as well. Suggests to me that they have poor cleaning & maintenance procedures.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Very good location in centre of Lewes. Old world charm. Breakfast. Quite good value.
Cons: Shabby bathroom and tired decor. Radiator noisy all night - strange continuous whooshing noise. Room 14.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice comfortable room, pleasant staff, good parking. Would recommend

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff at evening when I arrived to check in even if they were busy ; the same in the morning for breakfast + check-out. Lots of walkers apparently. Nice wee view on the hills from the dining room. They also have facilities such as common kitchen, lounge and drying room I haven't tried. Nice old barn building, relaxing environnement.

Cons: The WiFi is still not working and the women's dormitory (for 6 people ) is rather small and is too hot.
