I bought an eSIM and didn’t work because my phone is already locked to one, perhaps another way to purchase a data plan to get cellular access in your destination.
DadeFlew with Japan Airlines-Jun 2026
Lax airport was confusing and took forever to get around in. You need lots of time to get where you need to go. So give yourself lots of time
Verified travelerFlew with Japan Airlines-Mar 2026
Don’t fly through LAX. It is a rundown airport and we had to park at a remote area and the bussed to the main terminal. This added 20 minutes to our transfer time.
BrandyiFlew with American Airlines-Dec 2025
LAX on Christmas Eve around 9am was a breeze. No passengers were in line to print bag tags, bag drop, or security. Made it through from entry to the concourse (for American Airlines) in under 12 minutes. Boarding process at gate 159 used turnstiles, which I prefer.
Verified travelerFlew with ANA-Dec 2025
LAX checking in was quick and the connecting flight was the adjacent gate so it was very convenient.
MikeFlew with United Airlines-Feb 2026
I wish it was clearer about carry-on baggage rules for Basic Economy (international). The app said "No carry on bags allowed" but actually it was Narita-LAX-Narita so carry on was OK. It caused some problems deciding how to pack. Maybe have a video at the gate while people are waiting about the QR-code customs declaration and transport options? (I don't need these personally, I've lived in Japan for 20 years)
Verified travelerFlew with ANA-Feb 2026
Check the "true" costs of a flight with the actual carrier versus the many add on charges of a discount fare and subpar performance. To see if the difference is worth the pain..
Verified travelerFlew with Singapore Airlines-Mar 2025
Stand up and move around at least every 2 hours
Verified travelerFlew with Japan Airlines-Oct 2024
If you are connecting to a domestic flight in Japan allow at least 2-3 hours between flights. Immigration at Haneda is very slow . They are now fingerprinting and photographing all international passengers. Doesn’t help if you used the Japan website for preclearance or not, same line either way.
HughFlew with Singapore Airlines-Jun 2024
Arrive early, have a small carry-on, maybe a large bottle of water.
Verified travelerFlew with Japan Airlines-Apr 2024
Get your seat ahead of time especially for elderly. Who need to get in and out of the seat to stretch.
