Cons: The decor was a bit weird. The bathtub/shower sill was far too high and was dangerous (we were traveling with an architect and we are convinced that this height does not meet code). In addition, the gym was very poor. They only had a few machines and 2 of them were broken.

Cons: Everything tries to have a super trendy vibe that just doesn't seem realistic. Too much loud music and emphasis on parties that seem over blown. The pricing for everything is easily twice any other place that we visited in Barcelona, and there just isn't a reason for it beyond the hotel just charging more because they can. Its very far away from anything else.

We paid more than $100 a night plus tax and fee but unfortunate not include breakfast... That's kinda disappointing but well.. Maybe something you can check with the hotel when u make a booking.

There were many straight couples, guess they did not know they arrived in a gay hotel. looks like too many straights for the gay community, to many gays for the straight guests. I am gay but this time the mix was not good. Check in lasted forever, they write you a guest pass by hand, it takes forever... worst check in in my life. Hotel was not able to provide service to print out my online boarding pass.. what a shame. I did not feel anything of the original gay concept, I felt they just sold out the hotel to anybody just to make money ( whats ok), but this was not my axel hotel from some years ago. It was just a very busy hotel and not sure if the value for the hotel was very good this time. Just my opinion.

The hotel bar offered free champagne, water, tea and coffee which was a wonderful and unexpected surprise. The staff assisted us in room upgrades, places to eat and what to see around the city. Wifi was included in every room as well as personal AC that worked extremely well. The room also had black out curtains and while being very centrally located ( a few blocks from the Gaudi House and a 2 minute walk to La Rambla) was also very quiet. I would deffinitely stay here again. Great place for couples or young friends looking to have a good time while still relaxing and getting some rest!

Pros: This hotel was a great surprise in terms of quality, price, location, and service. It's located on a great street for shopping and dining, and only blocks away from the airport bus shuttle.
John at reception was very kind and friendly, circled lots of things on the map of Barcelona for me to see, and recommended some restaurants. The free glass of sparkling wine was a nice touch as well.
The room was fantastic, with a beautiful soaking tub and comfortable bed, and a balcony that opened up onto Passeig de Gracia. It should be noted that this room is great for solo travelers or anyone who doesn't mind an open concept room. The shower and toilet have frosted glass doors, but the tub is open. We were in the city in a perfect location, within walking distance of all the sites anyone would want to see in Barcelona. However, the hotel made us feel as though the city was ours. There was a feeling of exclusivity the hotel offered in it's design. More like our own private apartment. The staff was so friendly, that it gave the impression they were there just to make you happy. Many nice little touches in the hotel design that gave it a modern cool feel. Highly recommend.

Pros: The Hotel was very lovely and well decorated, clean and the staff was very accommodating. The hotel bar offered free champagne, water, tea and coffee which was a wonderful and unexpected surprise. The staff assisted us in room upgrades, places to eat and what to see around the city. Wifi was included in every room as well as personal AC that worked extremely well. The room also had black out curtains and while being very centrally located ( a few blocks from the Gaudi House and a 2 minute walk to La Rambla) was also very quiet. I would deffinitely stay here again. Great place for couples or young friends looking to have a good time while still relaxing and getting some rest!
Cons: The bathroom of the rooms where small and not separate from the rest of the room, and the doors to the toilet and shower were opaque glass that was see through when wet. Other than that no complaints.

Pros: This hotel was a great surprise in terms of quality, price, location, and service. It's located on a great street for shopping and dining, and only blocks away from the airport bus shuttle.
John at reception was very kind and friendly, circled lots of things on the map of Barcelona for me to see, and recommended some restaurants. The free glass of sparkling wine was a nice touch as well.
The room was fantastic, with a beautiful soaking tub and comfortable bed, and a balcony that opened up onto Passeig de Gracia. It should be noted that this room is great for solo travelers or anyone who doesn't mind an open concept room. The shower and toilet have frosted glass doors, but the tub is open. It may not be private enough for some people, but I thought it was fine as I was solo.

Cons: The only negative to the hotel is completely out of their hands, but there is a new retail store being constructed below, so after 8 or 9 am, it can be a little loud. Cons: The sitting room was missing one of two chairs. I know because the same room one floor higher we were reassigned to had both and a lamp. The showers have granite floor covers and they move and make horrific noises and in the case of our first room concealed bugs and debris that smelled and looked horrible until the water made the bugs obvious on the edges with the debris. Nightmare! They moved us but it left us wondering about the next room and hotel generally. The next room actually had a bed for two as we were confirmed for, proper amounts of chairs, lamps, etc. Did not feel like it deserved a 5 star rating for many reasons. Won’t go back

Cons: Room 307 - Phone did not work and did not get morning call. Then it took the front desk staff for ever to get a replacement. Then on Monday the 9th the front desk person forgot to wake me up because 'he was too busy and forgot' even though request was made the night before and it was written on the wake up calls listing. It ruined two half day trips I had planned for the day; had to cancel them.
Bed matrass was too hard and made it uncomfortable to sleep..
The rooms with balcony and street view was fine but the other ones with interior view were too dark and depressing.

The hotel staff are very friendly and professional. The room we had was a large suite with a separate living area. The room was modern, clean, with a comfortable bed and very well appointed.
I would hesitate to staying here again on our next trip to Barcelona.

Cons: All the rooms have kettles. Upon plugging in said kettle I received quite an alarming electric shock followed by a loud bang, sparks and smoke coming from the plug socket and a consequent power cut in the room.
Whilst I accept these things happen as electrical appliances get older and need replacing, what alarmed me was the total lack of concern on behalf of the staff when I notified them that of what had happened, and of the fact that I had actually been electrocuted in their hotel room. In fact their only response was to send up a handyman to replace the kettle and reset the fuse. I mentioned what had happened twice at the reception desk and quite frankly other than showing some slight surprise they couldn't seem to care less.
Another disappointing factor was the view. Many of the reviews, and indeed the website boast a fantastic panoramic view of the Barcelona skyline, whilst in reality the view, even from the 8th floor, consists of a massive pylon (which sits directly in front of the hotel) and an average vantage point of the Barcelona skyline at best.

Pros: Located on the vibrant Via Laietana, this hotel is in the center of so much--a 15 min walk to the beach, the Picasso museum, wonderful Tapas restaurants, shops, bars, and plenty of gelato stores. New modern decor juxtaposed with an old colonial building gives the stay both energy and comfort. The price is quite affordable for a four-star hotel, though there are certainly other options that are both cheaper and more expensive. Friendly staff, and a wonderful stay.

Pros: Not a comfortable hotel. Shower fixtures splashes and hot/cold temp hard to adjust. Hotel is right above underground trains and can feel the vibrations. I think Kayak customers automatically get the worst rooms. I got a window that looked out to a wall 5 feet away, on the second floor. So no view or sun. I guess for the price, that’s what I get for convenience.

Pros: Located on the vibrant Via Laietana, this hotel is in the center of so much--a 15 min walk to the beach, the Picasso museum, wonderful Tapas restaurants, shops, bars, and plenty of gelato stores. New modern decor juxtaposed with an old colonial building gives the stay both energy and comfort. The price is quite affordable for a four-star hotel, though there are certainly other options that are both cheaper and more expensive. Friendly staff, and a wonderful stay.
