Taiwan Travel Restrictions

Taiwan entry details and exceptions

**Beginning March 7, 2022 -- Taiwan will allow foreign business travelers to enter the country for the purposes of business visits, investment, the fulfillment of contractual obligations, and employment. Relevant information can be found on the Taiwan Bureau of Consular Affairs website. These regulations are subject to change and may be adjusted based on pandemic developments.**

Entry restrictions do not apply to citizens from Taiwan and their family members and foreign nationals with a valid Alien Resident Certificate. Foreign nationals that need to enter Taiwan for emergencies or humanitarian grounds will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must receive permission from the CECC before applying for a special entry permit.

Travelers must have the Quarantine System for Entry on their mobile phone and must fill out the health declaration form.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Visitors from India must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken within 2 days before departing to Taiwan.

Details and exceptions
Permitted travelers, including those in transit, must have a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test result, issued a maximum of 2 days before boarding their flight. The certificate should be in English or Chinese.
Travelers from high risk countries are required to take another PCR test upon checking-in in a designated quarantine facility and at the end of their quarantine period.
Individuals who are not from high risk countries may only take the test before the end of their quarantine period.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors from India will need to quarantine for 14 days upon entering Taiwan.

All travelers arriving in Taiwan must quarantine for 14 days in a designated quarantine facility at their own expense. See list of approved facilities here
Individuals who will quarantine are advised to make a reservation and payment in the Quarantine System for Entry 48 hours prior to arrival in the country.

COVID-19 testing requirements
Test type

Unvaccinated travelers returning from Taiwan must present a negative RT-PCR (NAAT) test taken within 72 hours before departure to India.

Fully vaccinated travellers with approved vaccination certificates do not need to present a negative COVID-19 test.

Details and exceptions
Travelers should upload their negative RT-PCR test report in the Air Suvidha Portal prior to boarding their flight.
Travelers will undergo a medical screening upon arrival and may be subject to a covid-19 molecular test at their own expense.
Children under 5 years of age are exempted from both pre and post-arrival testing.
Fully vaccinated travelers with WHO-recognized or Nationally-recognized vaccines are also exempted from testing requirements. Proof of vaccination should be uploaded in the Air Suvidha Portal.
Quarantine requirements

Visitors returning from Taiwan are not required to quarantine upon entering India.

Quarantine is no longer required. However, travelers are advised to self-monitor their health for 14 days from arrival and if they develop signs and symptoms suggestive of COVID19, they should immediately self-isolate and report to their nearest health facility or call National helpline number (1075)/ State Helpline Number.
