The employees in Hertz were very polite and helpful. The only thing is that all insurance details were not shown in the Kayak app, and in my opinion the options should be implemented correctly because they are super useful for the customers.

They charged me EXTRA on my credit card BEFORE I took delivery of the car even after I was assured the payment was made in full ( no balance owing). Upon return of the vehicle, they found a very minor nick in the windshield. I have attempted to have this resolved over MANY emails and keep getting the 'run around", even after they admit that the overcharge at the beginning was their mistake. They have considered the case closed and are with holding the money they mistakingly charged to my account ( the money owed is more than a windshield repair ) I will NEVER deal with Hertz Rental again.

The car was good, however, the girl at the counter failed to inform me that there was a cap on the km I could drive, even tho she asked me where I was heading. You would think they can easily calculate the KM in their booking system. I've requested a refund for the extra charge, under the transparency consumer laws in Switzerland. So dodgy.

Tons of hidden cost and basic insurance doubled the cost of the car we were originally quoted $400 for the entire trip with everything they wanted to charge $1600 to my card. I wasn’t planning for that much And wasn’t able to pick up the car.

My worst experience in rental cars in a decade. I have rented cars across many countries and continents and ironically the worst experience was in Switzerland. There was missing information in the pick up. They lied about insurance of the car in the pick up. The insurance value was a daily amount and not a single amount like they mentioned. Also they overcharged 20CHF due to a reason they could not figure out at the dropoff and couldn't repay in it! needed to write an email to complain and still waiting for the money

Easy process and very helpful staff. Pick up and drop off was a breeze!
I was given a smaller car than the one I reserved. Don’t fall into the same trap, it feels like this maybe a standard ploy. It was too small for the number of passengers and bags but when I returned to the Alamo desk it had closed for the night so we had an extremely uncomfortable 2 hour journey. The Alamo staff at the desk had tried to make out that the car I was given was the same size by showing me a picture on a screen - in reality it was considerably smaller and it was dishonest of them to suggest that it was an appropriate alternative for the car I reserved. My booking was for a Renault Espace or equivalent; the car provided was an Opel Grandland with a luggage capacity of 1624 litres versus 2224 litres for the espace. Worse was to follow. When I tried to phone the Zurich airport Alamo office using any of the numbers provided or available online, there was no answer, simply an automated message saying no agents were available. I emailed and raised ticket enquiries through the website which were finally answered 3 days later and when I ended up physically returning the car for a larger one the correct size (a 4 hour round trip) the customer service agent was surly, telling me that she had served me originally and that I had agreed to take the car she offered. A truly appalling experience but must shocking of all is the lack of contact ability post hire and the sheer rudeness / lack of apology from the staff. Awful.

the staff were great. we had 6 people and the 7- passenger Renault Espace we had was not very comfortable and had odd controls. the third row seating was only for children and difficult to get into. when you stopped, the driver seat moved back to aid exit, but that crushed the person sitting behind the driver. the shift stalk was too near two other stalks on the right of the steering wheel. too many controls were on the center screen, so difficult to figure out while driving. the espace hybrid, however, was very economical. a vw minivan would have been far more comfortable! (we rode in one) - same length, but taller, so more space.

How can any words describe the experience I received??? Online the quote I agreed was £330 for 5 nights hire of a mini convertible. On the day I arrived I was told this figure was not correct and I should now pay £400 plus an additional £135 for insurance. Ok insurance fair enough, it’s high but it’s still a choice, but why the additional £70 above quoted price, which by the way stated includes ALL fees! However it get far worse, on the final day our flight was cancelled so I emailed asking to extended my booking 1 day… A new invoice arrives… £780!!! So what started at £330 ended up at £780… take off the £135 for insurance that’s an un-expected increase of £315 for an additional days hire… Oh and what did the advisor say at the airport… ‘Welcome to Switzerland, get used to it!’ Complaint raised, but of course no response…
No delays, straight forward, no sales pushing of insurance and other non sensical stuff. Pick up and drop off quick and friendly. Happy with service and the car.

Everything was great- the car was in excellent condition and the service was smooth. The only small point to mention is that the wait time at the airport pickup was a bit longer due to high demand. But that’s completely understandable and shows how popular Dollar is. Overall, I was very satisfied with the experience.

I was not given a code for entering garage.l when was getting car in Zurich. Instead, I was given a phone number to call. This number was not responding. As the result I have missed my private excursion in Basel. I was lucky that someone else was also returning car and had a garage code. Otherwise, I would miss a lot of very expensive events.

Poor pick up instructions: No mention in email of where/how to pickup. No mention that Thrifty was at Hertz counter. Very small Thrifty sign that I missed. Airport info desk told me to take a shuttle to holiday inn?! I wasted a lot of time finding the pickup.

Staff refused to give us the car at stated pick up time of 4pm and tried to upsell us to another car saying that the original car booked would not be available for 3 hours and we would have to wait. We only managed to get the car after over an hour of waiting and arguing with staff. Extremely aggressive and non stop use of scam tactics in an attempt to upsell.

The deposit reimbursement was made weeks after the car was delivered. The car category I paid for obviously warranted a car better than an Opel Corsa. Emergency contact was not working (I had warnings on the dash regarding a need for oil. The car was already damaged during pickup. Very sketchy front office, with very sketchy behaviour (putting bank card details in a screen that the clerk can obviously see).

This is a horrible company that charged over $1000 for a deposit, and never returned it. They claimed I chipped the license plate cover.. seriously? Whether that is true or not, the charge for $1000 should fully or almost completely refunded.

I came to pick up the car and nobody was in the office so I had to wait for them to reach and got the car late. Also, I asked for some extra to be deducted from the deposit but they made a mistake and I had to pay it separately. They did give me an upgrade because they were late but I just end up spending more gas because I got bigger car..

The operator did not give me a car which I had paid to Kayak long in advance. Kayak had age requirement >25, the operator had age requirement <70. I was left without a car after a long, overnight, overseas flight!
