Terrible experience — Do NOT rent. Terrible experience with electric car even when they assured us it would be very easy where we were going. Had to charge vehicle every hour, takes a long time to charge and does not hold battery. Customer service was poor, got hung up on (should have been an amicable situation). Difficult to exchange broken car, they told us to go directly to the Sixt shop but then nobody there. Then they told us to go immediately to a different Sixt location for exchange and someone would help but then they left for lunch for 2 hours. Never again!

Reserved a car and when we came to pick up, the old upsell happened where they said the car we reserved was far too small and we ended up paying 2x the amount because they had no other cars available. Very unhelpful and professional.

Although this is somewhat normal for Europe, The check-in desk being blocks away from the parking garage of the cars was inconvenient for us. I pick this location because of its proximity to the train station. We had a walker checked bags and carry-on bags from the train station down a block or so to the check-in office. Then we learned that the cars were not there and had to retrace our steps with all of our luggage back to the train station and then walk another two blocks past the train station, to the left and down into a parking garage. It was very clumsy and inconvenient. But we had another car rental experience it was similar in Italy. So just be prepared.

Drop off was a disaster. Got to rental location about a half hour before appointed time. It was at 4:30 on a Saturday and they were closed. Not sure what to do, I returned to my hotel and with the assistance of the concierge called their help line to find out there was a drop garage near the office with a code to enter. This of course was not provided when I picked up the car. So, was finally able to drop the car after scrambling to figure out what to do.

The pickup experience was fine. The drop off location had only 2 spots for after-hrs drop off and there was no parking available on any of the nearby streets. Tried calling sixxt for more than 3 hrs and they would not pick up ( kept telling me they had a system fault on 13th Aug). Had no choice but to spend significant $ to park the car overnight in a garage. Next morning the staff was of no help to refund this expense.

Pick up and drop off was awful with absolutely no instructions or details provided - just obscure addresses. Pick up led to an inside hallway to a broken elevator, with an intercom with person on other end completely unhelpful. Found way to walk into car exit only to find no one there at 8:20. Phone number on door was not answered. Waited another 10 minutes for attendant to arrive who was “cleaning cars” downstairs who said I should have called the #!! Then after hours drop off in Nice was complicated (must go across the street, go into underground parking garage and find a narrow spot open which took almost 45 minutes, and then bring key back to slot at street level, hidden in a hallway). All of this could be part of the email confirming the reservation but No o course nothing was noted. Car and price were fine but the lack of any details and service for pick up and drop off are very poor.

Car rental was easy but I had to walk a few block and find the car in a parking garage. Its paris so it's not their fault. Service was good.
