Cons: - The staff was mostly friendly and courteous. But during our stay, we encountered 3 hotel staff that were rude. - We brought our ROKU only to find out that the HDTV has a second HDMI port available, but it is DISABLED by the hotel (confirmed by staff). After looking around, we found the tiny set top box and HDMI junction box underneath the desk. We promptly unplugged the HDMI cord and plugged our Roku instead. Problem solved. - As other reviewers noted, the internet was comparable to 512k DSL speed. Streaming content was unbearable at peak hours.

Cons: no coffee maker no door or curtain on shower to keep warm air inside

Cons: The generator was struck by lightening and the hotel was out of power in the room towers and no A/C in the casino. There were no apologies and or notification from the staff.

Cons: I think for the price there should have been more amenities, breakfast etc. The escalator was down for a day for maintenance and kind of cuts you off from the tower side of the hotel, I feel a Friday was not the right day for this. Providing ear plugs was tacky

Cons: The noise level of the bars below. Also, the facilities were not all functioning (elevators and escalators). Also the location of the room was not very convenient.

Cons: There was nothing we did not like

Cons: When I arrived, there were dirty towels and linens left on the counter in the bathroom. Furthermore, the toilet had not been flushed, much less cleaned (there was still feces in it). Midway through my stay, the television stopped working. Disappointing.

Cons: One server at the S+O restaurant was incredibly rude. She very obviously didn't want to be there, and we caught her rolling her eyes many times. This was the only staff member that we ran into that was rude, everyone else was great. Getting to the strip is a little difficult, but the downtown strip is just as fun.

Cons: As a downtown spot, it's a great stay. If you're used to the strip ammenties and atmosphere though you may be put off by any spot downtown

Cons: The showers are a little odd, with their half-glass "door", and the water pressure left a bit to be desired. But the cleanliness more than made up for it!

Cons: The shower. I get for design purposes that a half a door seems cool lol but the water pressure was so low it made a 10 minute shower turn into a 30 minute one. Kind of a hassle.

Cons: The disconnect between players services and the promotions and also how the pool is always so ccold, even in the dead of summer.

Cons: There wasn’t much I disliked, about the hotel honestly. I can’t even complain, the only thing I can say when all guest check in give a guide of everything in the hotel. I didn’t mind walking around though, for real the hotel was really nice.

Cons: They put us on the 18th floor, which is the top and by the elevator... it was a Monday/Tuesday booking, the hotel was not busy. We had to deal with a warm room due to the fact it was the top floor, and elevator noise all night, it sounded like there was a trash truck outside our window all night, made it difficult to get to sleep.

Cons: There was a gap between the outer window facade and the adjoining room. We were "treated" to a lengthy telephone conversation from the guests. We solved the problem by strategically placing a towel into the offending space.

Cons: I don't like hard, overstuffed pillows for sleep. Ask for soft and flat at check in as they have them available.

Cons: Didn't expect the Fremont experience to be able to be heard through the building, but they provided really nice earplugs so I slept fine.

Cons: the long walk from the lobby to the rooms in the tower.

Cons: we stayed in the pavilion suites it was like been in prison it was on 5th floor above the car park the wall were paper thin you could hear everything north/east/south the music stopped at 3.30am from freemont st. and west the maid knocked us up at 8am when I put a no service required on the door DO NOT stop in the pavilion suites .the tower suites are 100 times better

Cons: I booked online, and was offered an upgrade to a "Cabana Suite" for a holiday weekend. Mia culpa, I did not do extensive research since I know that a cabana is usually poolside and a suite is usually a large hotel room with a sitting area as well as a sleeping area. The El Cortez Cabana Suites are neither. It's an older looking motel that has had the name El Cortez slapped on it. My room was no more than a Motel 6 hotel room: a king bed, a chair, a desk with one of those metal-and-vinyl chairs you see in schools or churches, a dresser that you couldn't access because the mini fridge prevented the sliding doors from opening on one side (where the drawers were). The bathroom did have a nice shower, as some pointed out, but the location was behind the parking structure for the actual El Cortez Hotel. There was a security guard outside the door because the neighborhood was more than a tad sketchy. We couldn't have guests without coming to the lobby to open the door for them - they wouldn't buzz in our friends. When checking in (with bags in hand) they made me fish out my room key before buzzing me into the lobby; it was not very welcoming. Yes, there is candy on the lobby desk, but the person sitting at the desk almost didn't smile once in three days. Often at night it was a security guard talking on her phone with friends and didn't even look up to acknowledge us. I felt cheated out of a promise made by the name of the hotel - if you're going to offer someone who starts to book a room in the casino tower a "cabana suite" as an alternative, then it better have a pool or be an actual suite. A renovated Super 8 Motel is NOT what I think of when I read "El Cortez Cabana Suites". Had this hotel been $50 a night, I would have been tipped off, but at almost $200 a night for the holiday weekend (including their nightly "Resort Fee"), I was expecting MUCH more.

Cons: I missed having a microwave in the room (was expecting one). No popcorn at night.

Cons: The staff was absolutely horrible and unfriendly. Beware of hidden fees NOT visible in the fine print.

Cons: The price and the people playing rap music until 2:30 in the morning. I paid $73 on line for my room and when I got to the hotel I was told I would have to pay another $11 "resort fee" and a $40 deposit. I was awoke at 12:30 to the sound of rap music and assumed it was coming from Fremont Street. It woke me up again at 1:30 and again at 2:30. This time I had to call the front desk and complain. I guess they looked in to it because about twenty minutes later it stopped. I will never stay here again.

Cons: Noise level was high at times, the casino on the main floor smelled strongly of smoke and febreeze/air freshener. The ice machine may have been from when Bugsy owned the hotel. The $5 charge for Keureg coffee cups is ludicrous.

Cons: WAter drainage in Tower room bath tub is bad , very very slow that may cause pooling of water when showering. Room floor is old and looks dirty.

Cons: Tony Romas restaurant. They offer steak and lobster for $11.99 from 9:00 - 11:00pm. We went to eat at10:20 and were told that the wait was too long. I waited all night to have that dinner. Although the manager was nice enough trying to explain the situation I was not happy that we were not offered some sort of comp.

Cons: At check-in one Asian guy had a guest he was check-in . While waiting in line the other employee was on computer shopping and paid no attention to us need to checking , when Asian guy finished with guest he politely asked may I help you and started the our check-in , the girl raised her head up and asked the white couple standing do they need help. I felt she didn't give us the same respect since we were not white. We were check-in 1424 the a.c. didn't work !!!! I reported it . Maintenance couldn't fix it , went front desk for update because we were out and was going to be out the remainder of the day. The front agent told me I have to move by 2pm if I won't to change rooms . I asked can I just move when I get back , she told me "No" by 2pm if not they want be able move me because housekeeping need to clean the room I am in to sell it . I told her I work in engineering 15 yrs and that is clogged/dirty line on chill water and it won't be fix when you have paper with all the rooms on 14 floor with a.c. not cooling . She said will sell those rooms regards of repaired or not , I told her this ridiculous and to give me my new keys. We were move 318 a.c. didn't work there either , only worked because the lower you room the cool the chill water , meaning there possibly a circulating pump broken and that the case there will be hot for a while. So taking people money and and selling them product that you know before is not working is very unlawful.

Cons: The room was too small, there where no curtains on the window just wooden shutters, the room was very hot in the morning, but at nights its was freezing. The bathroom was horrible, it was very small! I dont recommend this hotel to anyone!

Cons: For the price , the room was very small, bathroom uncomfortable, would need a lil updates,, pics, rugs, curtains etc. no housepitality thank you ..

Cons: The hotel manager needs to pay attention to the administrative (hostess) Mellisa. She is very rude to the customers of the motel ... She herself canceled the reservation and promised to refund the money, but she never kept her word. Also she wears mask in the wrong way, she wears it under her nose. At the same time, she literally barks at others if they delay to put on a mask when entering the hotel ... a very unpleasant experience for my whole family. Please stay away from this kind of "service".

Cons: Room had a bad smell from ac unit. The shower controls were broken, it would switch between cold and very hot on its own. Also the shower curtain wasn’t big enough so water got everywhere

Cons: I tried to find outlets next to the bed to plug in my phone. Couldn't find any. There where two lamps next to the bed. I wondered what they were plugged into. Turned out nothing. The lamps where just there for decoration! Turned out you didn't need the lamps. There was a lamppost directly outside the window that lit up the room. It felt light late evening with all the light a out. I didn't realize this until it was late. I just went sleep. They need to provide curtains in that room.

Cons: The fact that they sent me to an side building and not their main hotel. Which meant I had to park in a public parking lot which lead to my car getting a ticket. Which now I have to fight to get it cleaned off my record. All because of either the incompetence or maybe they did it on purpose of the women at the front desk who gave me the parking pass and putting the wrong date on it. I was tired from the drive and did not check it, so now I have that ticket I have to battle to get cleaned up. So I would NOT recommend this hotel!

Cons: They never answer the phone and if they do they are extremely rude. Extremely bitter and unhappy employees. Our toilet seat has some red sticky dried liquid on it. Kinda gross.

Cons: I was guaranteed a price of $25 and it ended up being $55. It's frustrating when you're on a budget and a website lies to you about the price.

Cons: No blankets (or fitted sheets).. in the middle of winter. Not filthy but not real clean. Shower temperature fluctuated by like 10 degrees at a bare touch.

Cons: No refrigerators and microwave in our room and people hogging up the ice in the ice machine by the main building. There should be ice machines in each building.

Cons: You could not control the water temperature when showering, it would either be too cold or too hot. Once adjusting the handle would give you the same result.

Cons: Longest check in process in my entire life. And I was the only one the agent was checking in! Asked for a quiet room, got put on a floor where people were arguing in the halls and banging doors all night Front desk originally granted me a late checkout but told no one so banging on my door the minute after normal checkout commenced. Clogged sink. Had to use the bathtub to brush my teeth and wash my face.

Cons: Hotel phone was not working: calls went thru an intermediary ("The Oasis") though answered professionally; so it was not possible to reach the Front Desk directly; only way was thru email; there are also no room phones, which was not per se a problem for me. Ventilation fan in bathroom was quite noisy.
