Pros: Loved the cookies at check in, amazing breakfast, confy bed and ammensties and modern decor. Fluffiest towels, robes and slippers! We only stayed for one night to be nearby the ferry (which we walked to)
Cons: The area didnt seem that safe - tons of grafitti and a few beggars, but We didnt feel threatened in any way.

Pros: Located across from the ferry terminal and nearby to some nice dining. The hotel is really modern and rooms are nicely done. The bed is very comfortable. Great shower and amenities. Breakfast is a buffet with make your own orange juice and option for omelettes to be made to order. Very good breakfast.
Cons: We just passed through Heraklion from Chania to get to Santorini. Did not stay there long but did not seem to be a vacation hotspot. Would prefer to not make my own orange juice.

Pros: Great service, nice room.
Cons: Noisy at times as located in the proximity of the airport. Then again so is almost all of Heraklion and the windows keep out most of the noise. The step up chair provided in front of the bathtub to climb in and use as a shower is a nice touch but I prefer a separate shower without the climbing exercise.

Pros: This hotel was very nice. Everything in the room seemed very new and clean. Spacious bathroom with glass doors around the shower. Large balcony. There's a bus stop to the airport right across the street.
Cons: The breakfast wasn't the best, but I appreciated a free breakfast. It's on a very busy shopping street so it could be pretty loud.

Pros: The buffet breakfast was excellent, and the staff were accommodating, helpful and welcoming. Our room was small but comfortable for a one-night stay, and it was a nice surprise to find it contained a mini-fridge. We were grateful for the complimentary house-made raki and bowl of nuts, a very thoughtful touch. The hotel has a good location, just around the corner from the network of walking streets that lead into the center of town.
Cons: Up until close to midnight groups of excited young people were running up and down the echoing stairs and hallways, making a lot of noise. We weren't sure if management was simply ignoring it because of the later dinner hour in Greece, or if they couldn't hear it, but we were glad when it finally ended as we had a very early flight the following morning.

Pros: Astoria Capsis is located in the heart of Heraklion near major sites and shopping opportunities. You can easily walk to a lot of archaeological sites like the former fortress docks & harbours. There are a lot places to eat and shopping close by.
Cons: No fitness center for exercise. There weren't a lot of choice for their breakfast. Can be noisy. My room had a noticeable sway for no apparent reason, possibly the foundation of the building was not stable.

Pros: The food here was pretty good. The pool was nice and deep. Our room was huge.
Cons: We booked a day at the spa and were forced to cancel with plenty of notice. The spa clerk began berating us about how bad it is for them that we cancelled. She then proceeded to yell at us and accused us of not having enough money for the spa. (We had already paid...) I brought this matter to the front desk and they did not care. That is not the mentality of a 5 star hotel. Then again, I don’t believe that this is a true 5 star. I would say it rates at a solid 4 star. Most definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here due to the attitude of the staff.
