8.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are a good size, clean with comfortable beds, plenty of hot water. The pool area was clean, loungers with shaded area's overlooking the port of Sandakan the hotel is centrally located.
Cons: Not a great variety at breakfast, it could do with some updating. The WiFi is irratic in public area and guest room.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: It went well only during check in, after that it was very poor experience
Cons: 1. Cleanliness, bathtub was quite dirty, some hair inside the bathtub. The tiles surrounding the bathtub was dirty when I first check in, you can see the drying soap with not properly wipe. 2. Refrigerator are not working at all, I book 2 room and both are not functioning, it was like the receptionist deliberately giving me the bad room. 3. Some lights in 2 rooms are not functioning. 4. Can not access to Wifi. 5. The LCD TV is outdated, no FullHD content shame. 6. Extra hours check out was only given for 1 hour. 7. Too many sharp edges in the bathroom, need extra careful for older tenant.
7.0 Good
Pros: On the other side, staff in the bar and restaurant where friendly and helpful!
Cons: We booked the sunrise rooms,. But got the sunset rooms instead. We booked sunrise since everyone is able to see the sunsets from the swimming pool and restaurant. But sunrise not. Reception should take that in matter and give the room thats actually booked. Or if they want to give another room type, they should ask the guest. But reception was in my opinion not really interested in the guest opinion. Even upon check out they didn't even ask how our stay was.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice pool area, spacious rooms, good shower, everything within walking distance
Cons: Very business hotel feeling, gym is very small with only a handful of equipments (could be more for a hotel of that size)
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Pool was amazing! We stayed out there for ages ordering drinks and relaxing as the rest of our stay was really hectic with tours and treks. Room facing onto the sea had an amazing view and the bathroom had a window opening onto the view also Breakfast was the best we had I Asia in 3 weeks!
Cons: Not enough sun loungers. Only about 16 for a hotel with hundreds of rooms
8.0 Excellent
Pros: everything about this hotel was good, especially the staff, and the accessable room was the best I have experienced in all my travels
Cons: management has no idea about catering, they charge 16.00 Australian for a beer at the pool,a hotel of this size and only two people drinking who pays for the staff, what more no happy hour at pool to entice you to have a drink, last brew has a happy hour all be it 9.00 Australian for a glass of beer ,again when in every day around 7.00 p.m. could count the guests on two hands not good for business.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is located on the waterfront and in walking distance to central Sandakan. The infinity pool was beautiful. The meal prices were good. The cafe/ice cream bar was delicious. Easy access to the heritage trail. We felt very safe in this hotel. Would recommend.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were absolutely friendly, helpful, and delightful. The open and spacious reception area was breezy and pleasant.
Cons: It’s not within walking distance to any shopping or food area.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice room in a great environment. The hotel had also a sauna (free, but we had to book it 20min before use) and a gym. The hotel provides a small tour office, where you can book trips without additional charges or brocker fees, thus our trip was cheaper than everywhere else.
Cons: They provide internet everywhere, however, the internet is not really strong in the rooms farther away from the lift (sonetimes, for a few minutes there was no connection at all)
7.0 Good
Pros: I liked our stay
Cons: Wifi is available, but very poor
5.0 Okay
Pros: The friendliest of the staff especially Bella and Nora. The concierge staff was extremely helpful in relation to trips. Breakfast was good although rushed with staff taking plates away quickly. Cakes were brilliant and great value. Best beef burger I have had in years.
Cons: Hotel not used to dealing with European travellers. A tiny longue area which catered for people to have a drink or a cake. Hotel is not making the most of the grounds that they have. Can't see why they can't have basic garden furniture in their large balconies. Reported leaking toilet three days in a row and it was still leaking when we left.

Pros: Good location
Cons: Toilet
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was very good. It is a close walk to restaurants. The internet connection was very good. The shower had good hot water. Bed was comfortable. I would recommend this hotel.
Cons: Breakfast could have more options. They should have bananas and maybe pancakes or waffles. They should have better juice for breakfast ss the orange juice is a mix from powder. The refrigerator did not work well to make ice for drinks. I had to call maintenance to replace the room safe as it did not work.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Room was nice and big, staff was friendly, breakfast was pretty good not much choice but it fits well with our menu.
Cons: Airconditioning didn’t work that well. Been told numbers of time for technical team to do room inspections but turns out to be the same and nothing much changes on our room. We had to clean the filters ourself. After that the room was getting a bit colder.
5.7 Okay
Cons: The hotel needs renovation. The food at the cafe can also be improved.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Orangutans in the trees near the lodge in the evening. Great food and atmosphere.
Cons: Bathroom smells weird. The dorm room is simple but is fine for what you pay.
8.0 Excellent
Cons: Excellent location for the orangutan centre, the National park and the Sun bear centre. Staff were lovely. Restaurant was good. Bungalows spaced out so it feels private and remote. Pool a bit lame, but we were there for the nature and the animals and that did not dissapoint.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: More vegan options at breakfast such as soya milk
7.9 Good
Pros: The setting is gorgeous. It’s close to the orangutan sanctuary. The dorms were comfy, and there is hot water, oh and a tiny pool. Think paddling pool depth.
Cons: Food is not particularly good. But there are other places you can eat nearby.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The plunge pool is a great treat after a long day of walking around the rainforest discovery centre. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided has lots of options and was very delicious.

Pros: The bed extra comfy, has elevator and refrigerator (which not all hotels have with that kind of price)
Cons: It just that when you check in at midnight or past over midnight and request an extra blanket or pillow, the receptionist always say that the hotel don't provide at all for any extra blanket, pillow or bed even if the customer willing to pay it. Shockingly, the next day when request to the houskeeping, they give it all the time without any problem which is actually the customers can get it without have to pay anything

7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was great, pool was a pleasant place to cool down after a hot day. The boardwalks are enjoyable. The location is less than a 10 minute walk to the Orangutan rehabilitation centre. Noon check out was nice.
Cons: The facility is showing its age. They were doing some work but maybe just cosmetic dressing. The wifi was not working at all. Description said we had a tv. There was not one but that was minor. Didn’t feel that you got what you paid for. Should have been 25% less cost.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent if you want to go and see the orangutans and bears. Beautiful area. Nice to walk around and enjoy the jungle feeling. The swimming pool looked nice (didn't go swimming). Easy to reach. Nice people working there. The food is an ok and a reasonable price. The room is big and wifi excellent.
Cons: Our toilet had problems all the time. They fixed one and there were another one. You don't have any other options to eat than the restaurant that is there. No store to buy anything either really (a small one in the corner only).
5.0 Okay
Pros: This hotel was conveniently located immediately next door to the Orangutan and Sun Bear Sanctuaries. The lunch and dinner food at the Banana Cafe (an outdoor restaurant) was great! The long boardwalks over lakes that connect the buildings of the hotel property are quite impressive.
Cons: We managed our expectations in that we would be staying in the jungle. We expected the humidity and to wear bug spray 24/7, but what prevented us from spending a second night here was how uncomfortable the pillows and the bed were. We both woke up with stiff necks and sore bodies. The A/C in the room hardly worked, so it was very warm at night. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was not enjoyable.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: - staff were very helpful - location is great for seeing orangutans & sunbears - rooms are basic but comfortable - food options at the banana cafe are good
7.0 Good
Pros: We liked the jungle setting with lovely pool
Cons: Breakfast could have been better, beds a little uncomfortable. Money needs to be spent on basic maintenance.
7.0 Good
Pros: The pond and scenery surrounding the Banana Cafe were exceptional.
Cons: Feels like the section where the pool was had been neglected. Though this may be due to the lack of Chinese tourism from CoronaVirus.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location to visit the Orang Utans, Nice garden in nature
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is amazing. The food in the restaurant (banana cafe) was good. It's really close to the sepilok orang utan sanctuary.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed at the resort at the end of a 6-week trip around South East Asia. We were tired and in need of being able to relax, yet still have something to do. We spent 2 days / 3 nights there and we really enjoyed it. Our chalet was very generous in size with a veranda overlooking the lake. The resort was located about 5 minutes walk from the orangutan rehabilitation centre and the sun bear sanctuary, which made it easy to visit by just paying the entry fees, no guide or transport needed. The second day we walked the 20 minutes to the Rainforest Discovery Centre, which was also very much worth the visit! But the best thing about the resort was how it was landscaped, as it did attract wildlife. We watched hornbills from the bar in the early evenings, beautiful sun birds and butterflies around the flowers in the morning and last but not least, a young orangutan visited one lunchtime! The last visitor would never be guaranteed, but as the resort is close to the sanctuary, it was not a huge surprise. The staff were very attentive without being in your face! The food was great too!
Cons: This is not a complaint, just constructive criticism. I feel, that in the day and age of nature conservation, guests should be given the option to reuse the towels and bedding shouldn’t be changed after 2 nights. Especially as we only stayed 3 nights. I understand that some guests would prefer this, but a choice would be great. Especially if the wish to reuse towels / bed lined is acted upon.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, nice and quiet. Far from town but only a 5 min walk from the Orangutan and sun bear area. the surrounding areas are peaceful and quiet. Really peaceful!
Cons: Far from town, and stock up on food. The food places are expensive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The friendly staffs, cleanliness , stylish decor and certainly location to main attractions like Orang Utan and Sun bear sanctuary.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location was beautiful, with a very relaxing atmosphere. Every chalet has a hammock, which is very comfortable and relaxing. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable.
Cons: The food was overpriced compared to surrounding places, although was very tasty and of high quality. There was a bit of pressure from the staff on arrival, to purchase tours and activities.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: What a place! We stayed here for 2 nights in August and were really impressed with resort. Check in was smooth, staff were lovely and the restaurant area just beautiful, overlooking a small lake surrounded by wildlife and flowers. The rooms were just gorgeous, large with a fabulous comfy bed (hard to get in Malaysia) lovely big bathroom, ours had a bath and overhead shower. Plenty of living space and veranda overlooking the water. I could sit on the veranda and watch the monkeys in the trees and hornbills flying around. The food was excellent. It's right next door to the Sunbear and Orangutan centre and a short and cheap Grab taxi into Sandakan
Cons: Couldn't fault it, our experience was brilliant
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is incredible! Set on a beautiful pond with rainforest all around, the villas are very private. Some great nature activities are close by as well. The food was very nice and there was lots of variety. The staff were always helpful and they were very flexible with checkout as we had a late flight.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, beautiful setting, extremely friendly staff. Highly recommended. As an extra bonus, we even had a young orangutan visiting the hotel when we arrived -- fun and unexpected.
Cons: nothing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very nice hotel and the room - clean, in the middle of flowers, birds and trees, and very comfortable. Staff and food were great, orang-utan centre and rainforest centre in walking distance. great place.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff Strong pressure water Comfortable bed & pillow With tv Provide drinking water
Cons: Shower head need to clean it
4.6 Okay
Pros: A lot of parking space
Cons: Isolated n creepy. Located in front of abandoned building. Upon check in, the staff asked me either i already booked or not. Seriously
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The shower was ok.
Cons: This is not a boutique hotel. It is located in a very run down industrial area. While it is a 5 minute drive to the centre of Sandakan it's about a 25 minute walk along a dual carriageway. The surroundings are dirty and poorly lit. The view from our room was of other industrial type buildings. The bedroom smelt of cigarette smoke. The decor was tired and about 15 years out of date. There was no breakfast available on the Sunday morning as the kitchen was closed. There was nowhere in the locality where we could buy breakfast and the receptionist suggested we went into the town centre. The hotel advertised a shuttle service to nearby restaurants but the reception staff knew nothing about this despite there being a notice taped to the reception desk. Felt it was overpriced for the facilities and the area.
7.0 Good
Pros: Value for money!
Cons: Poor WiFi and access road very dark!

Pros: Super friendly staff who know everything about the area. I originally thought this might be too far but they provide a free shuttle/ organise all your transport and bookings for you! Food was also delicious and so cheap! Would definitely recommend!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I had a really wonderful experience staying in the dorms here. It felt like a fancy retreat with beautiful areas to lounge looking out into the jungle and the staff was so lovely. My bed was comfortable and though there’s no air conditioning I felt very comfortable. The included breakfast is GREAT. Even includes meat and fruit
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The setting is amazing to get away from reality in the middle of the jungle. The views across the jungle from the balcony were sensational. The staff were super friendly. The cabins were cool you just have to be prepared for being in the jungle so it is different. Food was awesome and super cheap. The owners run a shuttle into the town which is handy.
Cons: No towels provided which I really think it should be at the price we paid for a double room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff very helpful & accomodating during difficult time of lockdown.
Cons: Not being able to stay longer due to lockdown
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The pictures say it all. Comfortable air on hits in the forest with large sliding wall panels to partly open the wall when you want to connect with the environment. Open wall bathroom is great. Food and the communal area is really nice.
Cons: The water pump at the top of the hill could benefit from a sound insulation box putting around it. The wiring sound must be annoying for the huts next to it every time someone flushes during the night, but we were three huts down and hardly heard it.
6.0 Good
Pros: Hotel in the jungle nearbay oranhutan santuary and other interesting places.
Cons: It is not easy to catch Grab from this place, hotel offeres transport but the price is about more expencive.

Pros: The whole experience was awesome and worth the money. Our guide Ahmed allways finished excursions too early, but still, he was amazing person. Really good spotter, we saw some animals which other groups didn't. Also we got extra excursion to the village. Ahmed has really good humour taste - amazing guide!
Cons: We had construction works going on just in front of our chalet - constant noise and paint smell. We could not enjoy rest during day time. This leads to another issue - too much free time where you do not have what to do. To sum up - the chalet location just in front construction works is a huge disappointment. Message to staff - please don't do this to other guests.

Pros: Lovely location by the river. Comfortable private accommodation with nice big bathroom. Great food. Enjoyed the late afternoon river tours where we got to see lots of different monkey groups, and a beautiful lone Orang Utan male. small and large crocodiles. Hornbills and other birds. A beautiful snake. The pygmy elephants were too far away (at the river mouth) to be seen. Our guide was knowledgeable and very good in spotting the animals. Nightwalk was in the jungle adjacent to the lodge and besides mud and spiders there wasn't much to see. We chose to do only one. The morning cruise has nice ambience but fewer animals. Again, we chose to do only one. Enjoyed visiting the village. And watching/participating in the dance offered by lodge. Everyone was very friendly and well organized.
Cons: Some construction work in the cabin next to ours.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly place on the river. Good staff, views and lots of wildlife on their boat tours. It was nice to see orangutans, lots of monkeys, crocodiles, tarsier and lots of birds.
Cons: The common bathrooms weren’t very clean. That said this is pretty common for most places in the jungle.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Overall, the experience was excellent. I had a dorm bed which was fine. Really nice to have aircon. All the team were very helpful and delightful and our river guides were amazing (Anwang and Henry) We saw more wildlife then could have imagined.
Cons: The bathroom for the dorms is outside with an open roof so no protection from mosquitoes. This made it impossible to shower without being bitten alive. It is the only thing that I would change. A simple adjustment to include some form of screen above the shower rooms would greatly improve comfort.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The food was absolutely amazing!!! And 4he dorm room was very clean and even had an AC :D
Cons: The shared bathroom area could be improved a bit, but was ok considering it's in the jungle. As I told the receptionist, it would be improving the experience a lot if the staff and guides gave way more information about the animals, the river, the local people and the lodge with it's sustainable approach.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This was the best decision we made in our two months in Southeast Asia. The staff at the nature lodge are amazing. They are always friendly and accommodating. They were able to provide gluten free food for me for each meal. All of the guides are amazing and we were lucky enough to get Mohammed as out guide. He made sure we saw orangutans and got is as close as possible to monkeys in the boat. We left with great pictures, new friends, and wonderful memories.
Cons: If I had to complain I would say there was some mold in the bathroom, but you are in the jungle so can't really complain.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: So, you're in the middle of the jungle in an amazing, quiet location. The nearest hospital and ATM are one hour away. There is WIFI for two hours per day, so you come here for the animals and socializing with fellow guests and guides. The guides are supernice, local and competent: they could spot a still, hanging orang-utan behind three different trees!!! The food was good and I really enjoyed staying here. I learnt a lot about the wildlife and stayed fit by walking through the jungle during the day and night. The river cruises were fantastic. I can only thank everyone working there for my stay! Also, the dorm was comfortable and was on my own the entire time.
Cons: Just one suggestion, which I already gave to them during checkout: they should add a library or some board games for the late morning and early afternoon (no excursions from 10.30 ish to 16.00). All I found around was a book in Chinese, a book and two magazines in Dutch. It's nice to nap and do nothing but that's a lot of hours to only nap at day.
6.0 Good
Pros: U can see animals closed to the river. Crocodiles and big nose monkey , orang utan ... it was amazing experience for that. The accomodation was correct. Good. They dont clean the rooms every day. The food is okay but the use of MSG is a problem.
Cons: Well, the mosquitos, you have to be prepared for this kind of adventure. It was awful , i ve got beaten too much.0 I found 3 days too much. 2 nights would have be enought. The use of MSG in the buffet. Glutomate has awful consequences on the body. Swollowing of extremeties and headaches. It is poison. The cooking class was very , very bad. They did not even give the recipe. It was throwing money through the window and it counted as a second lunch. They promised to send me the recipe but they did not. And we did not choose the menu neither.

The food was very nice and there was lots of variety. The staff were always helpful and they were very flexible with checkout as we had a late flight.
