10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is in a beautiful, peaceful location, yet within easy reach of the coast with lovely villages and many seafood restaurants. It is a traditional house set in its own well-kept grounds, surrounded by quiet country lanes. The traditionally-furnished rooms are very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast in a lovely room overlooking the gardens. The owner doesn't speak English, but there was an English-speaking young lady at reception when we arrived, which was very helpful. Despite very dull weather, we could see what a delightful part of Spain this is and would certainly make a return visit. We only stayed at Hotel Alavera for one night, but would not hesitate to book it for a longer period of time.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The area is fabulous. My husband thinks it's fairylandia out of Tolkien. What Cornwall & Dorset used to be before it became crowded. If you like the sea, seafood, spectacular mountains & green forests this is where you want to be. Ah, & if you are a surfer, this is paradise, it's still a well kept secret. They were very friendly and helpful and the house is surrounded by a lovely garden, so dogs are safe & can run around. We were treated to their own eggs for breakfast, which were delicious. The breakfast was ample and generous. We really enjoyed our stay and will come again. The fishing village of Tazones 15min drive away was a revelation. This is where Asturias comes into its own. The seafood is spectacular. It appears people come for miles to eat here, the village is littered with little seafood restaurants. Quite memorable!
Cons: Suggestion is sort the shower and add a curtain. Pressure is so strong water goes everywhere! Also, please, some decent pillows & British visitors appreciate a kettle & tea facilities in the room for early morning brew.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Love hotel rural beautifully appointed. Very comfortable bed. Good breakfast included. Staff don’t speak any English but very nice lady and we managed to communicate
Cons: We had difficulty finding the location. Google maps did not know this place and took us off in completely the wrong side of the river. Difficult to ask directions unless you speak Spanish
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Private patio and large garden
Cons: No restaurants or cafes within walking distance

Cons: As usual the twin room was cramped with nowhere to put two suitcases. The sliding wardrobe doors were a bit rickety. Finding the 330 out of Villaviciosa would have been tricky without satnav. A pool would have been a fantastic addition and there is room in the grounds.
