Pros: I really liked how kind and accommodating the staff were. The location is also great as it is a few minutes walk away from most of the major onsen in the area. 10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was stunning, luxurious yet traditional. The food was exquisite with multiple dishes and courses all imaginatively compiled and delicious. All the staff were incredible, helpful and humble, especially Kasumi who was delightful. The Onsen was beautiful and relaxing. The salon was an added touch, with delicious food.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The gardens are gorgeous but most importantly, in my opinion, is the respect for the history surrounding this fine ryokan. It is evident throughout. Very attentive, passionate and caring staff who are truly delighted to have you as a guest. Very rare these days in the hotel accommodation business
Cons: Can’t think of anything. It was a truly memorable experience
8.0 Excellent
Pros: the staff and service was amazing. The dinner presentation was excellent. The atmosfere in the honkan was super friendly.
Cons: it was not easy to find my room and the exit. I wish signs along the hallway be more informative.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything, especially the meal and onsens.
Cons: I liked everything
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have visited Japan a number of times over the years and have stayed in many ryokans. Nishimuraya Honkan is the overall most enjoyable ryokan that I have stayed in to date. Excellent service, outstanding food, beautiful traditional architecture, lovely garden, and nice baths. Kinosaki Onsen is a bit out of the way, but Nishimuraya Honkan is worth the trip.
Cons: I liked everything about this ryokan.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was incredibly gorgeous. Just absolutely stunning. The onsens were so serene and luxurious that I stopped going to the public onsens once I checked them out. The massage chairs in the onsen changing rooms were wonderful after a warm soak and really helped to loosen up the tight muscles from the 10+ hour flight and 4 days of walking 30+ steps per day in Kyoto. We had the Hatsune room with a private open air stone bath and it was amazing beyond words. The seating and bedding was remarkably pleasant and comfortable. Truly everything about the property was impressive and relaxing. Our room attendant, Maho, was also incredible and a highlight of our stay. She was so pleasant to speak with and so nice. She really took the experience to a whole new level and it would not have been the same without her.
Cons: I can’t think of a single thing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I mean, it's the Nishimuraya Honkan. It couldn't be more of a 10/10, I think it's the best place I've ever stayed at. (And I film luxury hotel commercials for a living, so I'm not saying that lightly.)
Cons: Zero complaints.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff attention before arrival and during the stay is awesome
Cons: Some kid guests running in long wooden corridor makes noice you can hear in your room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Literally everything about Nishimuraya Honkan, and to that extend, Kinosakionsen, is perfect. Honkan’s staff was so accommodating and kind and really got to know us during our stay so they can prepare to take care of us. Our room attendant was amazing, the baths were breath taking, and I feel as though how we were treated went beyond just professionalism, they went far and beyond for us without us even asking. The whole facility looks like it came out of a Japanese novel, so beautiful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent service and superb food.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The best onsen in town!!! If you want to indulge, then go for the private onsen.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room & hotel facilities were impressive. The lobby & room interior is beautiful & comfy! It’s very well managed & impeccably clean! The location of the hotel is a bit of a walk to Kinosaki Onsen Downtown, but the hotel provide shuttle but every 30 mins!! We love loveeee the onsen facilities, and the Keiseki dinner is great, esp the snow crab! The hotel staffs are very friendly, & super hospitability! We definitely enjoy our stay!! The breakfast is buffet japanese (& a bit western) style & we enjoyed it very much so.
Cons: we have had keiseki dinner in different ryokans, for us, the snow crab they served is extremely fresh & suits our taste bud, but not some of the dishes or appetizers. However, we were not expert in Japanese cuisine.. so we may not be the best judge of this. Nevertheless, we love our stay!!!!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The kaiseki dinner was wonderfully delicious and value-for-money!
Cons: The location is a bit off but they provide a free shuttle bus service to the town center,

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an excellent short stay at Yamamotoya. The staff were wonderful, and we very enthusiastic to ensure that we had everything we needed. We enjoyed all the public onsens in Kinosakionsen and the private onsen at Yamamotoya. We also enjoyed drinking the beer brewed at Yamamotoya, and wearing the special onsen clothes that the Inn provided us.
Cons: It's all part of the Japanese Inn experience - but I found the futons a little uncomfortable to sleep on!

Cons: There was no coin laundry on site.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Very professional and welcoming staff. A drink is offered at check-in. My room was very clean. Excellent facilities as microwave and washer/dryer machine.
Cons: My room and the bed were too small for two people.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is clean, staff is really friendly, it is located within 4 minutes walk from the train station; the entire town is close to Kinosaki Onsen at a reasonable accommodation price. If you get to stay there, ask the staff to direct you to Kura Sushi; excellent belt-sushi that was recommended by the hotel staff.
Cons: None
7.0 Good
Pros: The morning breakfast was very good... plentiful and traditional. Lovely staff.
Cons: Rooms are very small and there is no public bath (furo-ya)
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Big and very comfortable beds. Spacious room, very quiet. Close to the train station. A perfect base to visit Kinosakionsen.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Fabulous small hotel with amazing and super supportive staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really lovely staff. Every day at reception you can collect 1 free drink or 1 free item of food. They have noodle bowls, chocolate, beer, soft drink, water. Very sweet gesture. Very close to station. Lawson and family mart on opposite corners. There is a great mall with supermarket on the next block and one 5 minutes walk in the other direction. We chose not to have maids every morning but they left an abundance of towels and toiletries for us. Spacious room by japanese standards. ⭐⭐⭐
Cons: There are some things regarding accommodation that are distinctly japanese and should be accepted. One of these is firm beds which is a bit hit and miss for me. These beds were very firm and I found this uncomfortable. 4'o'clock check in is too late. Should be pulled back to 3'o'clock.

4.2 Okay
Pros: Don’t go to the annex. We’ve been living in Japan for a long time and we never got this kind of service. You get the feeling that they are only interested in your money. For everything they ask more money- even for an extra towel
Cons: Almost everything- the staff, lack of facilities
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: - city center location is good
Cons: - you must do the bed by yourself. considering the price, it feels wrong to put the bedsheets by yourself. the futon should be ready to use at arrival. even in hostel the service regarding beds is better. - i have been to this hotel before, and even though i mentioned in clear japanese "last time i had to do the bed myself, this time could you do the futon for me?", the owner replied "yes we have futon". bed wasn't made at arrival. - owner came to kick us "politely" out of the room 10mn after checkout time. we told to get 5mn to practice how to properly wear yukata, and he openly said "you must leave because otherwise we cannot clean the room." - although they have 8+ rooms to clean. My girlfriend had to walk in the streets to the main building half dressed... only because owner wanted to use vaccum cleaner faster. (notice : i have been traveling in many kind of hotels accross Japan for 2 years already (more than 50 bookings) and this is the only one ever to let bedsheets given to the customer)

Pros: Neat and tidy. Cozy!

Pros: Great location.Great staff.Very good breakfast.More showering facilities would be good.
Cons: Overpriced for what you get room wise.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very nice and friendly. Breakfast was also nice.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Just one thing to mention, actually I speak a little Japanese, but the staff didn’t really listen and answer in English directly. Well, when I travel, I would like to use local language as part of the trip. But overall this is a nice staying with friendly staff.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was very nice, the amenities were nice in terms of the Japanese garments that you were allowed to wear including winter coat. The breakfast was worth paying extra for and it is right in the middle of everything so not much distance to start walking to class to have their own Onsen In my opinion it’s better than the other onsens and also if you stay in this hotel you get a ticket to go to all the other onsens for free
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The ryokan is very easy to find not far away from the train station. The reception staff is very welcoming and friendly, will answer to all your needs. If you're too shy or want some intimacy during bath the ryokan offers private baths and it is always vacant during the time when we were there (december). So you get both private and public bath experience. The ryokan also provides you the yukata, bath robes, sheet masks to complete your bath experience.
Cons: Nothing that I can think of seriously!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staffs are kind, friendly, helpful. The tajima beef steak dinner course is amazing.
Cons: One of the best hotel/ryokan I have ever stayed ^0^

Pros: i visit Kinosaki because of the public onsens, but the hotel itself provide very nice onsen too. the staff are very nice and they made bed and tidy up the room for us.
Cons: it is quite far from the station, but not too bad as they provide delivery service from and to the station, anyway it's quite far from the first onsen that we have to walk on japanese wooden shoes to it. besides, the window view isn't so nice although i got the room that faced the mountain view, it was blocked by the appendix building of the hotel itself.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I absolutely love this place. The room is so big for four of us. The check in is very smooth. Super friendly staffs. I like the location at the end of the street. The breakfast was delicious and the tatami bed is very comfortable. Will definitely come back to stay.

Cons: While the highlight of this town is go different public baths (included in room price), wish the inhouse bath could open a little longer. I get up at 5am and want to take an onsen but still closed.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great Experience! We have a great time there!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. The staff was soo friendly, it was heartwarming. The room was huge and comfy. The breakfast was japanese and differed every day. The Location is a bit far from Center, but close to some nice temples and the best onsen. Kinosaki is a small town, so the Center is still near, a 10 minutes walk. Cons: Don't have hotel name or sign showing. Hotel have 2 main buildings which next to each other. Breakfast provide at the restaurant 3rd floor main building It would be better if breakfast can be serve in your room.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Our room was comfortable and spacious, the evening meal was amazing, a huge variety of different dishes. Breakfast was also great. Entrance to the public baths is included in the price, and a lovely way to spend a day!

Pros: Very comfortable modern ryokan with a fantastic location in Kinosaki. Very easy to access all of the onsen from the inn. Friendly staff and good service. Pros: They habe Yukatas for free rental and special ones for women. Very traditional and a special experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The private baths were amazing. We got to spend some good time in the onsen and enjoyed ourselves. The staff were also very attentive and prepared a futon, baby chair for my infant in the room and during meal time. Kudos to the team for their hospitality.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and very quiet. The private bathes were special, too.
Cons: There were 60 stairs up and down from our room to the bathes. I didn’t think to request a lower floor room, so my partner had quite a time managing the stairs. He was not happy.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The hospitality, the traditional experience of staying in an authentic Japanese Ryokan is great. The dinner they serve is premium as we didn't expect it to be so many varieties and so high in quality. The private onsen is a plus as not every foreign traveller prefer to bath with public. Location is only 3mins walking distance from JR Kinosaki-onsen station .Overall is highly recommended.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Less than 5 minutes away from Kinosaki station, great breakfast and the crab dinner is fantastic. The room is spacious with a balcony view of the main entrance.
Cons: Very generous portions of crab given during dinner. Unfortunately, the 3 of us couldn't finish them all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Located on the Main Street of Kinosaki Onsen with easy access to all public onsens. Great breakfast and dinner. Provided free private onsen.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great traditional-style Ryokan. The on site private onsens were a treat. Nice in room hot pot dinner and a lovely breakfast in a shared space. Very nice and attentive staff.
Cons: No complaints!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely traditional Japanese style room, staffs were warm and welcome although they know very limited English, service was excellent especially in preparing the futon and serving meals, they explained the food one by one and the recommended way of eating it. Food was awesome, the taste was great, the crab was super fresh, the quality of the beef was good, portion was generous! We stayed for 2 nights they thoughtfully prepared different breakfast and different dinner for both days. Yukata and geta was provided foc. There’s a private onsen owned by the ryokan themselves (only indoor) however you can choose which room to use based on your group size. Overall it was an enjoyable stay at the ryokan, though costly but definitely worth every single cent we paid.
Cons: It will be great if we can choose to grill the beef instead of just sukiyaki / shabu-shabu. Unfortunately the view that we got was back alley view :( (practically no view)

Pros: The staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. The scenery is also very beautiful.
Cons: Slightly far from the main town area. The public hot baths don’t seem very secure. Ladies bath door can be opened by anyone.

Pros: The owner is very friendly and welcoming. Good location and a great area to wander around.

Pros: This newly built property has the most beautiful interiors. The owners uncle actually painted the wall in each room. The staff are very polite and they go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and happy. There is no breakfast unlike other ryokans, however there is a cafe directly underneath and they do the best French toast and honey toast. Their private onsen was peaceful and clean.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Our entire experience here was excellent. The rooms are clean, beautifully decorated, well equipped for a ryokan stay. The staff are all friendly, and go out of their way to assist you with everything from orientation to tips, even heating up food for us. If you don’t want to use the Onsen baths every time, there are private bathing rooms at the Ryokan that are still a great Onsen experience, just private. There are plenty of places to eat, but we loved that the care downstairs was close and made a great coffee. We want to say a massive thank you to you and your family for making our trip to Kinosakionsen so enjoyable.
Cons: There are no microwaves available, the owner will heat up food for you in the main building, but a microwave available 24/7 in the annex would be a good addition for travellers.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room is very clean. Staff are very nice and friendly. It takes about 10 mins to walk from the train station to the hotel but it does not matter. You can enjoy the view along the way to the hotel. There is a bathroom on the 1st floor. You can have a private bath here if the door is open. Seems nobody use it much since this is an onsen town :) On check-out date, the hotel also offer me a ride to the train station. Highly recommend this place.
Cons: Nothing.

Cons: Everything was perfect the staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble

Pros: Such a lovely stay! The owners are incredibly friendly and our night here was such a relaxing and nice experience.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The design and aesthetics of the room. Definitely the hospitality and service. The owner specially sent us to the station early in the morning so we don't miss our train. Top-notch!
Cons: One and only night I slept there, found out they used the traditional bean-shell pillow which I couldn't get used to, and hence wasn't able tk get a good sleep. My partner was OK with it though. Guess it's not for everyone. Just a small mention for the private onsen.. We found the water temperature a tad bit too high for our comfort.

Pros: Great friendly service, great location, and wonderful owners. I am a vegetarian and when I let them know, they provided me with a great vegetarian breakfast! Overall a great experience.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Kazuyuki and Mei are amazing hosts. I had an incredible time staying at their ryokan, a true highlight of my travels, I'll never forget it. The food is amazing! Great town, great Onsen, very fun and relaxing.
Cons: Nothing
9.6 Excellent
Pros: They made me a gluten-free breakfast that could have fed three people! It was gorgeous, including salmon, tamagoyaki (eggs), rice, miso soup, shrimp and squid sashimi, vegetables, and fruit. They bought gluten-free soy sauce for me even though I told them that I would bring my own. The ryokan is very, very clean and the host is very friendly, and the location is perfect for visiting onsen, with many restaurants and shops nearby. It was also nice to have a toilet attached to the room rather than having to share one. The room also had a sink and refrigerator.
Cons: Although it was not problem for me, my room was on the third floor, which might be a problem for those with mobility concerns.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Huge room Comfortable bed Great service

Pros: Great place, I've enjoyed my stay very much
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Large room. Everything provided for visiting onsen. Helpful staff. It was during low season so can't speak for sound isolation.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I found the hosts Kazu & Mie so considerate & thoughtful. They always had a smile to greet you & answered any questions that I had. The breakfast was an amazing feast of traditional tasty little morsels!
Cons: There was nothing I could complain about.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff, a couple who run the property are very friendly. The location is close to the train station, only a few minutes on foot. The facilities are not fancy as some other expensive ryokans, but they are satisfactory. The breakfast meets my expectation. We did not have dinner at this ryokan. The price was reasonable. I would certainly recommend this ryokan to those who do not wish to spend a big money for ryokan.

Pros: The food was delicious and of the best quality. All of the staff were extremely attentive and fulfilled all of our requests immediately. My family and I had the best experience at this hotel out of all the hotels we stayed at over the years.
Cons: Nothing...everything was perfect.

Pros: This place was fantastic. Also we both got sick and one of their staff took us to the doctors and chemist and drove us to the train station for our next leg of our trip. Exceptional detail to service to say the least! Not if but when we come back we will be staying here!

Pros: Warm welcome from the owners. Nice ryokan and very spacious room!! As it was raining at check-out, the owner proposed to bring our luggage to the train station with his car. Japanese hospitality at its best.
Cons: Nothing. Some comments mention the lack of private showers in the rooms, but that is completely useless as you need to have a shower before & after using the public onsen anyway!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is good, owners is kind and informative.
Cons: Even room might be a bit old, but everything is still function and workable.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Near train station only 5 mins walk. Near convenience store and close to public bath. The town itself is not big so you can wander around and get everything easy.
Cons: Nothing No bathroom might be problem for somebody, But it is an onsen town. You should get the experience in public bath.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and beautiful Japanse style rooms. The roykan is very well located. Onsens and restaurants are all close by. The couple that runs the ryokan is very friendly and welcoming. I would definitely book this ryokan again next time I visit Kinosaki and would recommend it to anyone.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We were greeted kindly by the owner and offered green tea while being introduced to the town and shown how to wear our yukatas. The room was beautiful with a nice sitting area with huge bright windows
Cons: The house is over 100 years old so understandably a little cold in places but the main bedroom had two large heaters so it was very warm with those.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hospitality, fresh green tea and a gorgeous view- easy access, relaxing atmosphere. Truly a special hidden gem.
