7.9 Good
Pros: Very clean, convenient and comfortable and staff friendly
Cons: Plug-in air fresheners - very overpowering. Bedside lamp could’ve don’t with being adjustable so you can angle light to read in bed
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable bed and good fold out sofa for the three of us that stayed. Clean and tidy, good sized room with large bathroom, located at quieter rear of the building (we stayed in the newer part of the complex). Keith was witty and made check in easy and fun. Breakfast was a solid English breakfast nicely cooked. A good, convenient place to stay for those visiting stone henge.
Cons: A fab location if you are visiting stone henge but felt there wasn't a lot else to do in the village itself - esp in the way of restaurants, besides a few old style pubs that seemed to cater to the more sports minded sort of drinker with big screens etc.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Extremely comfortable beds, quiet rooms and a great breakfast. They even packed us a takeaway breakfast one morning when we knew we wouldn't be able to make their breakfast.
7.0 Good
Pros: Friendly comfortable and cheap! centrally located near pubs and restaurants

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Building was lovely. Room was clean, comfortable, warm and cosy. Loved the stand alone double end bath and bathroom was huge. Plenty of free tea & coffee in room along with complimentary sparkling/still water. Bed was extremely comfortable and enjoyed a great nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely and they accommodated my request without a problem. We also enjoyed a lovely meal in restaurant on evening of arrival. All staff were friendly and welcoming.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The bed!
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing is good - have maybe once been a charming pub with rooms upstairs.
Cons: Receive your guests friendly with respect. Our booking though booking.com - the hotel only had 1 room booked even I had a mail with a confirmation for 2 rooms. Water was dripping from the ceiling when it rained. Due maintenance of the rooms and restaurant, make fresh food etc etc…..
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Relaxing and very central for shopping.
Cons: NA
4.4 Okay
Pros: If you happen to be traveling to salisbury and want to tour the cathedral, you can't get a better location as it is right across from the entrance to the grounds. The staff were very friendly and competent, the rooms were well maintained and the bathrooms were spacious and very clean. But this inn is very old, the rooms are very tight, and it just isn't that comfortable. We did not feel there was adequate value for our rate of GBP100/night (jul09).
3.2 Mediocre
Pros: the quantness of the place, floors and walls sloping in all direction, which is not suprising for a building over 400 years old.
Cons: Very poor value for money, no services, reception closed @ 1800pm, no hotel lounge as such, only a bar/resteraunt.
7.2 Good
Pros: Clean and tidy with the only non-euclidean staircase in existence.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff and a great ability to fulfil all our needs! I booked the hotel initially for my wedding night! We ended up having our wedding reception there as well and was a fabulous day, food and service was great and couldnt ask for any better - Big thank you to the hotel!
Cons:
5.6 Okay
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant for both brekfast and dinner was excellent if a little expensive for the dinner.
Cons: No phones in the rooms. No room service. No shower caps in bathroom. It was a lovely hotel for a break but not for business use. I was hoping to recommend this hotel for business use but without the first 2 facilites above I am unable to do so.
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location. Staff made a real effort to be helpful.
Cons: No telephone in room. No explanation of use of 4 keys or how to lock room. Locked in the hotel when all staff went off for part of Sunday. The low service level does not reflect the high price. The operation seemed rahter amateur in terms of customer service.
7.2 Good
Pros: Altogether a very charming and unusual hotel. Very friendly staff and high attention to details.
Cons: The long walk from the Car Park - over 10mins walk with luggage. The cooked breakfast, although lovely, was a little small. And kept awake by talking on the first night until 2.30am and by another guest at 3am the next evening walking through and banging doors! Arghhhh!! But this did not put us off our stay, but think the price could be a little lower.
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: location
Cons: The hotel was dirty, no air conditioning and expensive. The kettle was missing from the room and the curtains were held back with a safety pin which cut my finger!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Nice large room comfy bed, nice Indian restaurant next door good food, bit pricey compared with others
4.6 Okay
Pros: The property was reasonably clean and plenty of free parking.
Cons: I was not happy with my overall stay at this guest house, although the owner was very pleasant I was left with many disappointing factors. The TV’s in the property are very small, I was in room 7 and the TV was pixilated so I asked the owner if he could sort it out for me. He tried adjusting the cable but it didn’t help, so he got me another lead from another room but this didn’t make any difference so I gave up. He said he could move me to a different room but he would have needed to make up the bed etc and by then it was too late so I made do without a TV. I paid £59 for my room which did not include breakfast, but it also did not include the normal things you would get such as a bottle of water, shampoo and conditioners, shower gel etc. The room itself is very dated but you do get plenty of space. The bed was hard and the scattered cushions had seen better days. I did write to complain about the TV and my overall experience and was offered a free breakfast next time I visit which I can honestly say I will not be taken him up on. I believe that some money needs to be spent on the property to bring it in line with the 20th century.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff and location.
Cons: The horrific sound made by the extractor and toilet when used. So loud must have woken everyone during the night. What a shame as wouldn’t stay again.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The customer service was outstanding. The hosts were friendly, funny and always going the extra mile to ensure you had the most memorable stay.
Cons: Nothing.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was very good. Owners were extremely pleasant.

Cons: Our bed was a bit too firm for our preference.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location
Cons: Lack of parking
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location - only a 10 minute walk from the Salisbury Cathedral! The staff were superbly friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. For breakfast we had a combination of a continental breakfast and a full traditional English Breakfast with both being very good.
Cons: The only downer was my rump steak at dinner was very tough and under cooked for medium.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfast was great, depending on the chef, and easy to book (just let them know the evening before) - friendly staff - exit through the back of the hotel so you don't have to walk through the restaurant
Cons: rooms were not at all soundproofed, so no peaceful sleep
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff friendly, room clean, tea/coffee, ironing board & iron. Newly decorated to a high standard. Private parking available & close to premises at a reasonable cost.
Cons: We were on the top floor & the water pressure was non existent so shower was poor. The windows in our room need attention, even though double glazed they are shabby. Didn’t spoil our stay but let’s the room down.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and warm. It was above a very nice bar, but we couldn't hear anything from our room. It was in a good location and parking was quite close. We went to a Mexican restaurant just round the corner which was excellent.
Cons: Our room was up two floors which might be a bit tricky for some.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food. The chesseburger with blue chesse was absolutely delicious. Also the breakfast was fine. The lady who prepared the breakfast was very nice. Oh and room is also nice and clean and the bed was comfortable.
Cons: Everything was fine. Just one thing was kind of strange. Basically, you can leave from 6am but there wasn't anybody who could take the keys. Fortunately, I paid everything at the check in otherwise I do not know how I could pay for the room in the morning.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff (Charlie was great), comfy beds, spacious room which are quiet compared to the bar downstairs.
Cons: Breakfast could be at 7am instead of 7:30.

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and clean room and lovely to have a Nespresso machine. The bar was gorgeous and very cosy serving excellent food.
Cons: Not much!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, excellent food and a comfortable room
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The Lamb is an old coaching inn in the attractive village of Hindon, which - until the coming of the railways - was a popular stopping-point for the regular stagecoaches which ran between London and Devon/Cornwall. At one time there were 14 such inns in the village, providing overnight hospitality for travellers and fresh horses for the coaches. Now there are just two inns remaining - the Lamb and the Grosvenor Arms - diagonally opposite each other by the cross-roads in the centre of the village. Both provide the best kind of cheerful old-fashioned hospitality. The nearby village shop is small but remarkably well stocked. The Church, built in a handsome Victorian style, is usually open for visitors in daylight hours. It has an unusual new semi-circular structure inside at the back which provides modern facilities. At the Lamb the cooking is very good - dinner and breakfasts were much enjoyed, and our room was comfortable. The extensive bar/dining area offers plenty of room for refreshment.
7.0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was fine and we enjoyed the avocado and eggs on toast. However, I shouldn’t have had it chase up our pot of tea or wait so long.
Cons: The mattress was sloping, worn down on one side where it had been sat on and the pillows were lumpy.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: En suite had bath - excellent after a long day's walk.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: pretty good food - fish and chips very good
Cons: air conditioning unit - also the main source of heating - was very noisy all night

Pros: Location good, modern decor, comfy bed
Cons: Nothing
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Food and service were excellent
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The location. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the last few years but found the price was getting too expensive and therefore I had to go elsewhere. The price was cheaper at this stay and that is why I was happy to stay again. The staff in the hotel are always very helpful.
Cons: Each time I stayed in the past I occasionally ordered a meal at the bar and took it upstairs to eat as don’t like eating on my own downstairs. I always got my food on a tray which I needed as wouldn’t be able to carry a plate of food, cutlery and a drink upstairs to my room without dropping something. However on this stay I was told there were no trays. Hmmm...I then asked for an empty plate to cover my food to help keep it warm and the chap for whatever reason didn’t seem to know what I was asking and offered to take the food upstairs for me. (It was food for both my daughter and myself). I told him I can carry the food myself I just want a tray or a plate to cover the food and he came back with someone from the kitchen (boss?) and again he thought I wanted the food carried upstairs. Again I asked for a tray etc and again no tray but offered to carry the food upstairs. I said for about the fourth or fifth time I can carry it myself. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist told me the kitchen would put cling film over the food. I told the 2 males this and asked for cling film and was told no cling film but if I wanted he would carry the plates upstairs for me. Meanwhile the food was getting cold and I told them to forget it. I know that was a bit ignorant but I couldn’t listen to the offer to carry my food upstairs again. I was also fed up saying I can carry it myself and I just wanted to keep my food hot. I have never had a problem with my previous stays. I will be visiting Salisbury often this year as my brother who lives there has been diagnosed with cancer and has just had 1 weeks radiotherapy treatment at Southampton.

Pros: Location so close to the cathedral, charming old building, very pleasant staff throughout, easy access from major routes down to Cornwall, our end destination.
Cons: Lovely hotel, but one thing really let's it down, they have piped music throughout the reception and adjoining corridors which played through the night which kept me awake for a while.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location next to the river. Fresh continental breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: I couldn't get the shower in my room to a consistent temperature. It fluctuated between lukewarm and very cold.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Loved the view from our room of the river (even though the water was very high) and the cathedral in the background. The large bed was super comfortable. The room was large with plenty of room.
Cons: The steps along the corridor to e rooms.

Pros: Well appointed abd clean
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent room with good view
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location, just 10 minutes walk from the cathedral. Nice breakfast, choice of continental or full English cooked breakfast. Preferred to individually prepared cooked breakfast compared to the buffet version.
Cons: Had a ground floor room overlooking the river. The occupants of the room above sounded like a herd of elephants whenever they moved around! Bathroom didn’t have its own heating, so felt a little cold at this time of year. The bedroom itself had 2 radiators which compensated to a degree.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location on the river and close proximity to cathedral
7.0 Good
Pros: Very rustic and the wooden beams were beautiful.
Cons: The curtains in our room were dirty and the bathroom needs updating as the bath had black spots around the side which was not very nice.

6.0 Good
Pros: The staff were helpful polite and friendly
Cons: The room was very drab, poorly decorated and for a superior room it was very basic. I have stayed in a nicer Travelodge
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was a good size on the first floor of this very old hotel. And we were able to park just under our room in private secured car park.
Cons: The breakfast self service. Set in a beautiful old dining room. Not a particularly big range of cereals . The Hot food was pretty disappointing, sausages & black pudding verging on the hard.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The reception staff were cordial and even rang our room to find out if everything was to our satisfaction. The breakfast was good, with lots of choice. The staff were helpful too. The hotel was close to the shops and eating places which made it convenient. We couldn't park in the hotel car park but the local car park was easy to get to and cheap.
Cons: That we could hear every sound from the street at night especially the people coming out of the pubs and bars really late.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Location. History
Cons: Poor shower pressure
6.3 Good
Pros: Location
Cons: The shower was terrible, no water pressure and little more than a drip!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely building, friendly helpful staff, good vegan options.
Cons: Lack of parking, but the multi storey was good value and very close.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The courtyard, the ivy, the little quirks
Cons: Some rooms get too hot in hot weather
9.0 Excellent
Pros: This was an unexpected delight; I rarely review hotels, but have been moved to say thank you! Everyone working at the hotel exhibited so much professionalism and kindness. The lobby features a beautiful, cosy fireplace, and the rooms are clean, pretty, and quiet. Can't recommend it enough.
2.0 Mediocre
Cons: The rooms were not as advertised - much poorer condition and far from adequate. The walls have no sound proofing you can hear the occupants of the next room having sex and you can hear the TV playing clearly in the other room. Bathroom was old and dirty and the view from the room was of a dirty rooftop of the other side of the building. Overall a dreadful experience.
5.1 Okay
Pros: Location, courtyard nice except..., price not unreasonable.
Cons: Feel duped. Booked a "historical" room based on a picture of a charming room offered when booking. Got to room and it was a B minus take on modern. Asked at desk and was told all the rooms had been renovated, they were updating the website. Too late. False advertising. Internet horrible to the point of being useless, rooms very hot in summer. Kegs and chairs stacked/stored in the courtyard ruin the charm and ambiance. Shocked at the five star rating. Would hate to see an even four star property...
8.2 Excellent
Pros: Location is great, and the buildings amazing--all ivy and period charm. Hard to do better.
Cons: Bedrooms vary a bit. Some are great, others a little small.

Cons: Breakfast was not great and overpriced at about £12.50 per head, staff were pleasant but didn’t really do anymore than the standard you would expect. Have stayed in much worse but nothing to make it stand out and wouldn’t rush to return
5.7 Okay
Pros: Nice building, great location. Comfort OK, if more 3-star than 4-star.

Cons: Very creaky floor! Bar closing too early on a Friday night!
5.0 Okay
Pros: Great staff!! Friendly and helpful
Cons: Very dated and tired decor. My room was crying out for a once over. Table lower support was broken and heated towel rail didn’t work. It wasn’t essential for me just expected more from Mercure hotel.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location was great for seeing everything in the city.
Cons: The room wasn’t very clean at all, the windows were dusty and had cobwebs. There was a leak in the middle of the reception area The fire alarm went off 3 times due to a fault at 4am. It was awful.
