Pros: Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help.
Cons: We arrived by train from Osaka Kansai airport. We chose this hotel as we were travelling with luggage and it is shown as directly above Shin Osaka station. The hotel is actually next to Shin Osaka station, there is another hotel above the station. That hotel had plenty of directional signs. We found it very difficult to find our way to the hotel due to very minimal signage and being night time we couldn’t actually see the Marriott. The hotel is linked by a pedestrian bridge ( no signs ) on the 3rd floor in a far corner next to a Mc Donald’s, it took several attempts at asking to find our way. It’s not a covered walkway either which is not so good in the rain. Not a great way to start our trip after a long flight and train journey.

Cons: It is very difficult to find the property as there are no signs in Shin Osaka station. The rooms are quite dark and the hotel is situated by the highway so this is not a hotel I would recommend to for travelers on vacation. Think it is better suited to business travelers.

Cons: The room is rather small. I asked for the hotel not to clean the room but I expected a bag of amenities hanging at the door as they normally do in Japanese hotel but no new set of amenities provided. It was ok but if I would stay longer than 3 nights that might be a hassle.

Cons: A bit difficult to find at first place if you come by JR. Google map seems confused because you need to walk pass the underway. Besides, I booked for 3 nights: one night for single and another 2 nights for double. I was told that i need to change the room cuz of different room types and costs. That means i did check out and in again. There should be a better way to arrange the room and cost in this case for more convenience if possible. However, I’m mostly satisfied anyway and will reconsider to stay here again if no better choice is available.

Cons: Only one out of ten staff could speak a little english. At the check in, 4 staff were at the desk but none of them helped out me and my partner to place heavy luggages in the spot indicated to keep it safe. Check out is at 10.00 in the morning. We were out at 10.10 but we still had a call from reception captain saying that a surcharge for late check-out was going to be applied. This wing is old, very old, rooms are small.

The rooms are a bit small as expected in Japanese hotels but nevertheless, they are clean. They can be a little bit old but I still like it. The exterior still looks modern. It is also very close to convenience stores if you need to buy cheaper goods or food instead of eating at the hotel. Beds may be small especially if you have children with you, so this is something to consider. Overall, I love the hotel and would stay here again if I visit Osaka.

Finding the hotel for the first time can be a bit iffy but once I found it and got a good idea of the layout of the city I realized how easy it was to travel anywhere from this slightly secluded and quiet (aside from the often-running above-ground train) location. Plus the hotel provided a handy booklet that described the area, the hotel's amenities, and how to get to Kansai Airport. The Claiton is a polite and professional hotel that I would visit again.

Cons: The hotel is located next to the railway line and was note quiet. The communal bath was only for men. The staff wasn't very helpful. I needed to book a taxi very early to go to the airport and the staff member said that it wasn't possible at this time !!!! I had to go to the Hilton to ask them for the taxi company they use and pass it on the the staff!!!

Cons: The walls are thin. This wouldn't have been a problem if the other people in the hotel were considerate but I was surrounded by high school boys on a sports trip who left their door stops out to keep their doors open for their friends and slammed said doors upon said stops repeatedly at all hours of the night and early morning until, I think, eight, when they left to have fun with their sports. I was there for five nights and for five nights this behavior continued. So to sum up, if you're more proactive than me and don't mind yelling at strange youngsters then the thin walls won't be a problem. If you're unlucky and a misanthrope, like me, then you'll be kept up at night.

Pros: Before staying we read some reviews saying the rooms are super small and simple but when we got ours we found that it is not spacious but comfy and well equipped. The location is pretty good if you are traveling by Shinkansan. And the staffs are very friendly and helpful. Lobby is simple but very nice decorated.
