9.0 Excellent
Pros: The room space is quite big as compared with the other hotel in Japan.
Cons: There is no other restaurant near the hotel and the shuttle bus only provided before 4:50 p.m.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: The light is not bright
8.0 Excellent
Pros: View from room. Wide beds. Pretty garden. Good breakfast. Excellent French restaurant.
Cons: No budget dining option on the premises. No evening shuttle to Kawazu.
7.0 Good
Cons: The resturant sfaff (shangri-La, & the counter staff. More hospitality needed
8.8 Excellent
Pros: great sea view, comfy bed, nice 温泉
Cons: not much restaurants nearby, the nearest convenient store is 15min walk away
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel staff at reception are very friendly. The hotel is beach front, and guests can enjoy a nice walk along the beach if weather permitting. Overall, I think the hotel is very nice, and has lots of restaurants and onsen on site. The hotel also provides free shuttle between the hotel and Kawazu station, which is very handy especially during Kawazu cherry blossom festival period. I also like the hotel library, where you can read some books or simply relax and chill. There is some variefy of breakfast options for breakfast buffet, both Japanese and western food, and I think the breakfast tastes ok.
Cons: The room I booked is quite tired and in urgent need of refurbishment. The view from the room is a bit strange, though it's okay for me considering that I was out for sightseeing most time of the day. The desk lamp as well as the ceiling lighting in the room is not working. Luckily the lighting at the entrance of the room and the lamp beside the bed are still working okay. Otherwise it's entire darkness that welcomes you when you're back at the hotel room from a day's sightseeing. I think the hotel should have a more regular check or maintenance of the facilities in the room. Taken my room and the rate I paid for my stay into consideration, I have to say that the value of the money is not that good.

8.3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast is good and the room is also big enough.
Cons: Dinner must book well in advance and there is no other choices.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: the view and room were brilliant, overall the hotel was lovely staff were friendly and helpful, easily accessed from kawazu station by free shuttle or on foot from Imaihama-kaigan station, would not hesitate to recommend
1.0 Poor
Pros: Dinner and breakfast food is good
Cons: I have booked the free pick up from 今井浜海岸駅 with confirmation from the hotel via email but the bus did no show up. No crew at the front desk. After ringing the bell at front desk, we still had to wait for very long time before we could do the check in at the front desk. I found every guest received complimentary drink and snacks upon check in. It is also the usual practice of all other onsen hotels in the Japan I have visited. It was not offered to me although I had requested from the crew at the hotel bar. Also the male crew at the bar was rude in attitude when I requested for the complimentary drink and snacks like every other guest. We stayed in the hotel for two nights. No room tidying and cleansing had been done in the second day although it had been requested and confirmed at the front desk. Only 2 staff in the restuarant to serve many tables so that they are too busy to serve each table with good quality service. Some furniture inside the room was broken. I have visited many Japanese onsen hotel in the past few years. This one is the worst I met
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was great value
Cons: The breakfast is Japanese and very good and part of the great experience but i missed the coffee that I need in the morning. Just be prepared for that if you are a dependent on your morning coffee like I am.
7.0 Good
Pros: The room is huge with a dressing room. The onsen is nice. Dinner is good.
Cons: This hotel is near the train station, but not so near the cherry blossoms.

7.9 Good
Pros: everything was great, very good for relaxing purpose so if u are coming relax, strongly recommended!
Cons: the location is far from city,if going other place, might be abit trouble
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The hot springs were amazing and the room was quite spacious and comfortable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property was absolutely beautiful inside and out. Shuttle was well-marked at pickup so we had no issue getting to the property. Between our basic Japanese and the staff's better-than-basic English, there was never a communication problem. Both the indoor onsen baths and the outdoor bathing areas were well maintained and clean. I'm sure it was the time we went, but it was very quiet and uncrowded. The private cave bath was absolutely amazing and I would recommend it wholeheartedly. Meals were excellent and very filling. The on-site bar in the lounge also serves local craft beer which was fun. Our room was spacious and had a fantastic view of the valley. We did not have a shower/bath in the room, but I did not miss it.
Cons: There was nothing I truly did not like.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Like a home .. comfort and kindly warmth
Cons: Hot water of the sink didn’t come out
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s one of the best locations available in Kawazu with great views to the mountains and very close to the waterfalls
5.4 Okay
Cons: It was raining heavily when we checked out and the staff did not offer to help with the luggage or any assistance. Other resorts which our car passed by, the staff was sheltering or helping their guest then they get on their vehicle...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The authenticity of the whole Japanese style and culture is definitely in this stay! It gives you a peaceful calm environment for those who needs it and also the onsen are clean and nice. For a foreigner, I can truly feel the Japanese culture and get a new experience for a nice comfy onsen.
Cons: Foreigner may prefer a bathroom in the room or the common area as there was no shower room in the stay except the ones in the onsen/hotspring. As some foreigner might not get used to the onsen culture (being naked while sharing space), shower room is needed and also a brief guide or tutorials for foreigner to enjoy the onsen will be nice too.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: I really liked the place owner's hospitality, atmosphere, and the comfort of the shared zone - it's just amazing. The lounge has a lot of volume, is comfortable to hang out in, and has lots of pleasant details to look at. Also, it has lots of toys in the lounge so families with children would also find this place amazing. The facility also has it's own hot spring, which was a very happy surprise. We liked it a lot.
Cons: Everything was fine except the slight smell of damp in our apartment.
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Mattresses have blood stains. Bedsheets looked like these were used before by other guests. Dinner was priced at 3400 yen, but was a totally forgettable western meal which was served very quickly and abruptly. Food was salty. Overall, service was below expectations. Shower room was very cold.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Acceptable walking distance to town center, good breakfast offered, lady host has been extremely helpful
Cons: No
8.3 Excellent
Pros: There are many activities inside the house and the hotel water spa looks really wonderful... Unfortunately we had no time to enjoy it! The hostess was discreet but very careful to our comfort!
Cons: The place is a bit far from the station and main touristic activities (although there are lot of activities inside the hotel, and a convenient store quite close)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: This place was full of character - in the best possible way - and the staff were extremely friendly. The sento also had a beautiful view out onto the garden.
Cons: The bed was a little bit small / springy, but not too bad at all.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Not too far and good private onsen
5.0 Okay
Pros: The layout and decoration of the lobby
Cons: The attitude of the staff is totally negative and unfriendly Difficult to find the name of the hotel. The signage is adjacent to a boat display which is not eye catching Common bath facilities are not good

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great views. Friendly staff. Super breakfast
Cons: All hotels in Japan provider single use razors, toothbrushes etc. Pity no reason why people cannot bring their own. This is not a criticism of this particular hotel, just hotels in general
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The buffet breakfast was fantastic. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Excellent service!!
Cons: The toilet flushing system was a little outdated and took a long time to flush before the water went down.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Great breakfast buffet.
Cons: Location with no access to the beach and place to jog around. To get there you need to drive a car or arrange a hotel bus or taxi. Hotel is remote from town which might be a plus but to have a walk around you have climb up and down quite a steep hill.

Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, a 24-hour front desk, and luggage storage. A train station pick-up service is provided at no charge, and free self parking is available onsite.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: This was a great alternative to a more traditional Japanese ryokan, and perfect for a family - more of a standard hotel style facility, but with good sized Japanese-style tatami rooms and great onsens. There are several restaurants to choose from within the hotel (and, unlike some Japanese hotels / ryokans, you don't need to book in advance), and even karaoke rooms! The location opposite Shirahama Beach was great, and Shimoda is just a short drive away.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: staff are courteous and helpful despite knowing little English. Room is spacious and comfortable
Cons: Could provide with more pillows in the rooms; pillow was not firm enough
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Outstanding buffet breakfast especially Japanese style selections; excellent indoor and outdoor onsen baths; lovely ocean view from tatami room--perfect for sunrise. Loved the ping pong room, though charge to rent was a bit high.
Cons: Room was quite expensive.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Quite a lot variety of food for breakfast. Also we loved that we didn't need to take towels to onsen from room as they have the towels (small towel/bath towel) in the changing room. The staff was lovely and some of them can speak English as well.
Cons: We really wished the pool was open through October as it's still warm in Shimoda. And the WiFi was bit slower than other hotel. And also you can't see the ocean from outdoor onsen.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Breakfast menu was the same.imagine someone staying for a week n having the same breakfast everyday.plus not tht good taste wise
3.0 Mediocre
Pros: The view was amazing.
Cons: The room was too old and dirty. The wall paper was coming off and the furniture was really old and damaged.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The location was prefect! Very close to the beach and close to Family Mart. Unfortunately the 7/11 right next door was boarded up. Not sure if it plans on reopening. The snack bar restaurant in the hotel was great and convenient. Breakfast was good as well! The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would stay there again.
Cons: A little bit old, but that can’t be helped :)
7.0 Good
Pros: Nice view
Cons: Facility is bit old, but very clean.

Pros: Great location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Nice view. Great restaurant.
Cons: The TV is small.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Nicely located and directly at the beach, all rooms have a magnificent view onto the ocean.
Cons: The hotel isn’t really worth it in terms of value for money (buffet dinner costs 60$/adult) and as it isn’t anymore the newest hotel the price per night was way to high. What they don’t tell you is that you will pay 30$/day and person for being able to use their private beach.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very nice and friendly personal which makes you feel home
Cons: Very old hotel itself - you need to understand it when you come here I have tattoos and was not able to visit swimming pool and onsen
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Best view one can expect of the ocean Cleanliness and 4 person were able to easily accommodate with enough space
Cons: no microwave service convenience store little far away
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Our room had a little patio with recline chairs where we can lounge and relax which we love. Breakfast was amazing not to mention a great view of the ocean as well.
Cons: we wouldve love to walk down to the beach area but the stairs was still under construction. But shirahama beach was walking distance which is not bad as well.
5.8 Okay
Pros: Good position in front of the sea
Cons: Old hotel, not very clean.

Pros: Everything
Cons: The weather
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location overlooking a beautiful beach just outside Shimoda. Room was very comfortable and the breakfast was very tasty. Some staff could speak English and the facilities guide was also in English.
7.0 Good
Cons: I was a bit surprised not to have a staff make the bed (as I had in another hotel of the same status / prestige in Takayama): no big deal. However, as I made my bed, I could see some major (old blood?) stains on the mattresses: this was the only pitfall of the overall experience.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Roomy, with view of surfers' beach. Elaborate resort-style breakfast and dinner, nicely prepared. Very firm dense foam futon mattresses. All staff members went out of their way to be helpful.
Cons: Onsen pools are good, but indoor water fixtures are a bit tired (probably due to the minerals in the spring water).
7.0 Good
Pros: The hotel has a family oriented beach resort authenticity and I valued being able to experience a traditional room, futon and all Very warm staff and responsive service The beach and coastal setting is remarkable Dinner in the upperrestaurant was a pleasure
Cons: The old lower level recreation areas are shabby and need renovation soon. Shimoda township and other dinig options isn't a walk away - its a taxi ride
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The view is perfect! And the service is good.

Cons: Only the overall room n place a bit old and dated but gave a very traditional feel to it. Location is a bit out of the place with nothing much in the surrounding within walking distance. So just stay in and relax!

Pros: Close to Shirahama beach!
Cons: Parking very bad and I went in my 4 wheeler and still had problems parking! And the road is very narrow! Onsen is not a onsen just a hotsie bath! There’s only soap and shampoo but no rince or treatment, and no hair dryer and the TV is very small to see from the back of the room! Needs tables by the beds! My wife disliked this pension..!

5.0 Okay
Pros: Location of the property was good.
Cons: Not recommended for family.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Awesome view
Cons: Toilet doesn't have washlet
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location, stayed here in March and no one was around. It was very quiet, and a 3 minute walk from a nice size beach with excellent waves for surfing or boarding. Front desk staff was wonderful, cheery and answered any questions as best as she could, and allowed us to switch rooms when a better one was available. Again, it was a weekday in the offseason, so don’t count on this perk. Onsen on property was able to fit me and my partner comfortably, and I’m 6’2”. Didn’t eat in the restaurant, so I can’t comment on the food, but I could smell the wonderful aji, which this region is famous for.
Cons: If this place invested a little more in itself, it could easily be four star. Silly little things, like a rusted swing that was broken, lights outside that didn’t work and a bathroom fan that also didn’t work. Little things, but noticeable.
6.7 Good
Pros: Great location near the beach. Friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Decent wifi.
Cons: Tired and worn out room and facilities. This place has seen better days. The double bed was too small for two adults. Very uncomfortable. Seemed like a semi-double. Room not cleaned very well - there was left over garbage under the sofa in the room.

Pros: This was the best travel experience I have had and I’m on my 4th passport. If you want a quiet relaxed professional experience, this is the place. Carlos was responsive with contact on plans and helped with travel plans & info. I’m quite sure Hollywood celebrities don’t get personal professional care like this. Soaking in private onsen overlooking ocean with birds singing is fabulous. Breakfast was super. The small town was perfect.
Cons: Not a thing was wrong...except I’m spoiled for good now

Cons: The public bath was closed after 9pm and re-opened after 3pm. The female private bath is small.
