Pros: The attentive front desk personnel make your stay comfortable and easy. They are helpful and understanding in helping me when I cancelled a day of my reservation. The breakfast was refreshing and healthy though the selection is small. I would stay again next time around.

Cons: Room is too small. Bed was not comfort as describe.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Every things good
3.8 Mediocre
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was free.
Cons: I was very disappointed by this hotel. The room was badly maintained, the wallpaper was peeling and there were trailing cables on the floor. The room was also smaller than your average Japanese hotel room. The bathroom was badly maintained. This would have been acceptable for a lower price, however, this is not what I would expect from a hotel for £100 a night.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Huge collection of books!
Cons: None
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel looks like a fairy tale. It is stunning. And although a bit difficult to find, well worth it. The meals were superb, although genuine Japanese. No international food here. The rooms and views were amazing. And the onsen's were literally the icing on the cake.
Cons: The only two complaints I have are this . 1: The coffee is horrible and not cheap. If you are staying in an expensive place like this , you should be able to get a good cup of coffee. 2: I scheduled a 90 minute massage for 110,000yen (not cheap). For about 45 min of my massage a wedding was getting out and everyone was yelling and shouting. So not relaxing at all, eve the therapist was apologizing the entire time. When I went to the front desk, they simply said "sorry" I pushed and got a whole 10% off my massage. They knew i was displeased so gave me a box of apple cookies. I would have rather simply not had the massage. SO if you go and get a massage, make sure NOTHING is going on in the banquet rooms or you will not have a good massage.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing.

Cons: Not much else to do around the area but if you are there for the weekend then spending the whole time relaxing in the hotel is definitely a good way to go. And if you like to read then there’s plenty of books around including a few in English scattered around the property.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are amazing and beautiful. It has a calm sense in the lobby areas and a vast library of Japanese literary greats. We were so lucky to have a heavy snowfall which turned the place into a magical paradise.
Cons: The traditional Japanese breakfast was a little hard for us to bear but it was a memorable experience just the same.

Pros: The service and organisation is fantastic. The room and hotel were beautiful and well maintained sitting within nature. Very calm and peaceful place to rest.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The atmosphere in the hotel is very nice. The private dining was a unique experience and the menu was great.

Pros: Clean
Cons: Small
5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff is friendly. Rooms are tight but clean. Next to a McDonalds and 7/11.
Cons: Check in time is 3pm and they charge JPY 1,000 for each hour that you want to check in earlier. Pretty bad when you arrive late morning after a red-eye flight from overseas. Even worse: Check out time is 10am! And same game trying to charge some extra Cash for each hour extra. This is the most restrictive early checkin/late check out policy that I've ever experienced in any hotel worldwide. Clear decision: Sorry, but never again!
7.9 Good
Pros: Great location with lots of eateries
Cons: The bed is too soft.. and the aircon function for heater is difficult to get a comfortable temperature.
6.7 Good
Pros: Location was fantastic being in the middle of everything a tourist will need
Cons: No English speaking staff, but someone did speak Mandarin which unfortunately I couldn't speak. Room was so small that moving around within even for 1 person was a little difficult and cramped

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Nagano prefecture is probably my favorite place in Japan. On this trip we visited Kamisuwa Onsen in Lake Suwa and it did not disappoint. + Hotel shuttle picked us up from JR Kami-Suwa Station, just contact them beforehand + Super friendly and helpful staff + Awesome lake view! + Japanese suite room very large + Excellent dinner and breakfast + In-room onsen
Cons: Some of the rooms are showing it's age and would do well with a fresh coat of paint and new windows. Comparing to other similarly priced onsen we have stayed in the past, this beautiful place can potentially be improved.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very helpful. We felt that we are welcomed upon arrival. Private bath was good fully equipped. Public bath has full view of lake suwa!! Room was spacious and clean. Dinner was excellent. Totally value for money as compared to other onsen ryokan we stayed.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: We had an amazing room with a view and outdoor onsen. The room was big and very clean. The food was carefully prepared and good. Staff was very helpful and polite.
Cons: We tried using the public bath but it wasnt very well lit. More can be done to brighten up the place. Also, the outdoor onsen in the room did not have lights which made it difficult to use it at night.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: From the minute we arrived we were very well looked after by all the staff, we could not have asked for more
Cons: nothing everything was great

9.2 Excellent
Pros: The room was comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful. There are rental bikes to get around the city as well as a free bus shuttle you can use to go to and from Kami-suwa station every thirty minutes.
Cons: There are two connected buildings and to get to my room I had to go up to the sixth floor, cross an indoor walkway, and then go back down a few floors. There is also currently construction happening just outside the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was close to station and lake. Room was large and comfortable. The onsen included public and private choices, and the massage chairs near the laundry were excellent. The breakfast was amazing with so many choices and lake views. The staff were so friendly and very helpful. The hotel offered more facilities than we used, such as shuttle buses to/from the station and dinner.
Cons: Liked everything, but the smoking room next to the lift was a surprise. The smoke smell was only near this room and our non-smoking room had no smell at all.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel in rural Japan. Very traditional tatami rooms that provide for a very traditional Japanese stay. The onsen is amazing and well worth a visit. Its not too close to restaurants though so be prepared to order taxis for food. Staff are exceptionally friendly and professional. Nobody speaks English though so you'll need google translate if you don't speak Japanese
Cons: The decor (besides the tatami rooms) is a little dated and needs a freshen up.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is located next to the Suwa lake and we can see the lake from our room. The onsen is also good with complete amenities.
