Pros: Beautiful and stunning property, surrounded by nature and very close to the town centre, where you can find lovely shops and restaurants. The room was super clean, comfortable and cosy, so it was ideal to rest after a long day out. There were many options for breakfast but they always made sure to cater for your individual requirements. Liese is a great host and she is always giving you tips and advise for you to enjoy your stay in New Forest, but especially she makes you feel at home. I would highly recommend Leyland Country House.

7.5 Good
Pros: Position and the views! The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was delicious !
Cons: The bar and restaurant down stairs has changed hands and is no longer part of the hotel and is franchised out. We wanted to take a glass of wine up to our room at the end of the evening but were not allowed and it was suggested we called room service to order a glass of wine but there was no information about this in our room and we would have had to call reception to ask etc etc ... simply for a glass of wine so we didn’t bother ! The whole feeling of “ nothing is too much trouble “ has slightly changed now !

9.0 Excellent
Pros: The surroundings were fantastic, the hotel staff were brilliant the food was fantastic great mushroom soup and steak.
Cons: The walks through the forest and seeing the horses up close
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely fantastic hotel. 10 of us travelled for a birthday weekend and we all had exceptional rooms both in terms of comfort and cleanliness. Staff couldn't do enough for us and should make special mention of Dave the barman who looked after us and made us feel very welcome.
Cons: I knew it was a dog friendly hotel when I booked but it would have been good to know that dogs are welcome in the bar even during mealtimes and to have been offered an alternative place to eat breakfast if not keen on larger dogs.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Refurb lovely, sat great, didn’t eat there as dining room being done and didn’t want to eat in the bar which was a shame as menu looked good
9.1 Excellent
Pros: Super-friendly staff. Their local knowledge was really helpful to us. The new menu was absolutely delicious! The hotel is undergoing refurbishment but their efforts to minimise disruption is really appreciated - we barely noticed and didn't hear a hammer or drill when we were there, but did see one or two workmen.
Cons: The bed was very firm but the staff were very friendly when approached and gave us another duvet without any hesitation.

Pros: Food and excellent bar.
Cons: Room a little hot even with radiator off.

Pros: Simply everything
Cons: Nothing not to like, the whole place has a charm that is so special.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The view across to the Needles. In rhe main rooms on ground floor the staggs heads made of wood and covered in patterned wallpaper. A refreshing change from real dust covered animal heads, with staring eyes.
Cons: No lift, but completely accept that such an old period building would be difficult to install one.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely House converted to a hotel in a great location, great rooms, friendly staff, good prices. Excellent all round short break.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything else. We had Alexander Tesla's old bedroom with great views of Storm Ciara. Copper bath in room plus his & hers basins in bathroom and a big walk-in shower. Free parking is a bonus these days too.

Pros: We liked the food and service. The family room was a generous size.
Cons: There is no lift.
7.0 Good
Pros: Good for the function we attended.
Cons: Room was a little 'tired'. The bed could have been more comfortable. Stayed at a 'Premier Inn' the week before and the bed there was far superior and the room was half the price of the South Lawn Hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, very dog-friendly hotel. Great facilities, large rooms, fantastic food, very friendly & helpful staff. Good location.
Cons: More ground floor rooms with direct access to outside.
8.0 Excellent

Pros: Ample parking. Friendly welcome. Very accommodating staff (provided a lift to a local restaurant). Comfortable room. Good shower. Lovely breakfast.
Cons: Nothing I can think of!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Locality to Milford on Sea was brilliant, room was lovely and the view over the field was peaceful. Receptionist and staff very helpful
Cons: Unfortunately the floor in the restaurant hadn’t been hoovered and bits of food was still on it from the night before however the breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted so good that made up for it. The carpet on the stairs was frayed but didn’t upset the look of the hotel which was festive and very welcoming.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect for us - we wanted to be around Milford. Hotel, reception, room and bed, bar staff were all extremely good Breakfast was not so good -- 'fresh fruit' tasted out of a tin. Porridge was lumpy and tasteless. croissants looked as bad as those on a ferry crossing. But that's not a huge issue for me - I'd come back for the hotel itself.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Another amazing stay! John and Brian are the perfect hosts and their home is simply beautiful as well as perfectly located for exploring the forest.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The accomodaftion was very good woth a separatevsitting room. It was quiet
Cons: Dogs vey sweet but not under control
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We had a comfortable sitting room as well as bedroom, with fridge, milk and wine! The location though initially a bit difficult to find was beautifully situated within the New Forest, which was glorious with autumn colours.
Cons: Maybe a separate shower would have been better....but we were offered the opportunity to move.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The house was beautifully presented, with very nice furnishings and a comfortable atmosphere. We were welcomed in and shown out room which was in fact the whole top floor, it was more like suite! The rooms were very comfortable and we slept well in the beds. The breakfast was delicious and there was always plenty to eat. The couple who owned the property were polite and always were making sure everything’s as Ok.
Cons: They had two dogs, and whilst we do like dogs, one was very old and within minutes weed on the floor right in front of us. This was cleaned up straight away, and of course is not the old dogs fault but isn’t necessarily what you would like to be greeted with. The other dog was very young and jumped up and grabbed my purse. Nothing damaged but again not what you want. Our room had no lock in the door and neither did the additional bathroom down the hall. Our bath did not have a full shower which meant we had to use the one down the hall with no lock. Unfortunately our bathroom had not been cleaned properly either with the bathroom bin also not being emptied. As we were at the top of the house our bedroom had eaves, and not being used to this, getting up in the night I hit my head quite severely, bringing me to my knees. Again nobody’s fault, it’s the design of the house but be aware of them!
1.0 Poor
Pros: nothing
Cons: Absolutely terrible person in charge of the booking. Shouted at me and would not even listen to what I was trying to say. Did not let me in and told clearly that "they don't want to see me". All of this because I came midday on Saturday instead of Friday evening (despite I confirmed multiple times that I was happy to pay for this night too).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast really good. Lovely quiet location in the forest but within walking distance of the facilities in Brockenhurst. The hosts John and Brian were lovely and really welcoming. Alice the dog and puppy Quentin were an added bonus!

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent hotel and grounds.Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food and dining areas, especially the Alhambra room and the great hall added to the quality of the stay. Good internal organisation amongst the staff evident to provide good service.
Cons: There is a high level of service throughout leaving no noteable criticisms.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Staff were very nice and cannot fault them at all. Lemon posset and homemade shortbread was delicious.
Cons: Handpicked hotels logo was everywhere and since we last came hotel seems to have gone very corporate and unfortunately felt cheap although wasn't. We arrived early and were allowed to our room early and room was pleasant. Disappointed to find no bar seating due to afternoon tea reservations and so we were offered conservatory but this had same limited menu for lunch and dinner so they managed to find us a table among afternoon tea guests. Dry sandwich. Conservatory at dinner had a bulb flickering directly above so had to move seat as did another party and whole area lighting way too bright. Food just ok but certainly nothing to write home about. We arrived on Friday and left on Saturday but disappointed to find large parts of the hotel were already closed for a wedding on the Saturday afternoon. We were expecting a real fire at some point but no. Extremely weak tea and coffee at breakfast. Spa open at 7am but jacuzzi cold as hadn't been heated up by 8am. Dirty outlets in swimming pool. Feels as if run by a corporation as opposed to anyone that cares. All v disappointing as it could be so amazing - it's such a beautiful old house and it was so much nicer the last twice we have been. They are now definitely prioritising wedding & timeshare (?)/ conference guests. We spent £340 on a 1night stay with dinner & drinks and wouldn't go again or recommend. Incidentally we spent a similar amount in January on a stay at Amberley Castle incl. dinner & drinks and enjoyed a totally fabulous and special experience.
6.0 Good
Cons: Service is clumsy, it was last time I stayed a couple of years ago. Receptionist when I first called was short and rude.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel in beautiful surroundings. Was great to be able to slow down and relax in very comfortable surroundings.
9.7 Excellent
Pros: Overall, a wonderful experience for a colonial
Cons: Lack of quality mobile phon service.
4.0 Okay
Cons: Spa poor very small--maximum 6 people in steam or sauna and therefore access difficult. Swimming pool ? 8-9m and very limited capacity. Crowded if more than 2 people in pool. Whirlpool cold! Hotel undergoing refurbishment. Limited restaurant options no fine dining available due to restaurant refurbishment! Menu in conservatory restaurant more gastro pub than rosette worthy! Not advised of this on website. Bath damaged in room. Would not describe this as a 4 * spa hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, well looked after
Cons: Room was small and outlook over bins and kitchen
8.0 Excellent
Pros: breakfasts very good also 2 dining rooms
Cons: the booking rate with you was queried and I had to insist on it! also 'discretionary' gratuities were not so and put on daily on top of what we had paid for the room confusion with them over whether we qualified for their' taster menu'- but our booking just said with dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect, couldn't of asked for more.
Careys Manor Hotel & Spa - Brockenhurst - Bedroom

Overview Reviews
Experience a world of pure relaxation and luxury at Careys Manor Hotel & SenSpa, where world class spa facilities, luxurious bedrooms, versatile conference and function spaces and delicious dining options combine to make this hotel in the New Forest so special.
7.1 Good
Pros: The welcome from staff was very good. Reception staff polite and informative, nice man showed us to our room and parked our car for us. The main building looked as great as it does in the pictures. We ate in the Cambium restaurant and throughly enjoyed it!
Cons: The room was less spectacular then we had expected. We paid extra for a garden room, the bed was not comfortable and had a join in the middle, the bathroom and room decor was a little tired also. We didn’t use the spa but did have a treatment which again was pricey but it was nice. I was disappointed that the full spa facilities were not included, particularly as in addition to the cost paid for the room we paid another £120 per person for our treatments. Felt it would be excessive to then be charged a further £38 each.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The facilities The layout of the hotel The service given
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Spa facilities were excellent. Clean and staff very friendly. Our room was a little cosy but OK for a few nights stay. Food excellent. We had dinner at 2 of there 3 restaurants.
7.0 Good
Pros: The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The spa was lovely and relaxing
Cons: Our room was very small compared to one we stayed in previously a few years ago and was unfortunately situated directly at the top of the stairs from reception with very creaky floorboards which meant we were kept awake through the night with people coming in and out. This was a special birthday treat for my partner and I felt the cost of the room didn’t reflect the size or quality I was expecting as this was something I had saved up for . The cleanliness of the room was also disappointing, there were champagne corks and tissues still on the carpet from the previous guests , and the bathroom was quite dusty with dried toothpaste around the taps. When visiting the spas quiet room we were given the option to phone down to the cafe to order light snacks and refreshments. I was unable to get anyone to answer the call so decided to walk down to the bar where I waited for over 15 mins before being acknowledged. After placing my order of afternoon tea ( which I waited over 40 mins for ) it arrived minus the tea! I then tried to get my own tea from the complimentary drinks section but unfortunately there was no milk available or any other juice drinks as they all needed to be refilled. I waited another 30 mins and still no milk arrived so we then decided to go back to our room and make our own!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: We were given a free upgrade which was much appreciated. The spa and treatments were great.
Cons: Nice hotel, decor starting to look a bit tired. Little bit expensive for food and drink.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The restaurants, the cozy lounge, the breakfast, the treatments (cured my knee), the pool, the spa, the rooms, the free upgrade. To counter my dislike, you could ask for what you wanted from a bespoke breakfast menu and it was gorgeous!
Cons: Having to make my own toast and the fact the breakfast was a buffet. Not expected in a 4 star. The fact it's not closer to where I live!!
7.0 Good
Pros: Good breakfast - quite expensive at £15.00 each
Cons: The Cambium Restaurant was poor value for money, the service was poor and the portions were small, but top price, wine list expensive. The Thai restaurant was good value for money and excellent food
