Can’t fault the property, the staff were lovely and always willing to help! The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hostel itself was really nice, they served great food and affordable cocktails, I would definitely stay again if I return to Kunming!
The common areas and bar are very cozy and the vibe is very welcoming, you can either sit down and read on a nice sofa or play pool with more travelers. The shared rooms are also quite decent (with lockers, bed curtains, one outlet per person...). But he best thing is the staff, they are always very wiling to help.
There was only one shower for an entire floor and two toilets. Plus, the shower was in the patio, so it's not very convenient in winter. Some hostels in China include sleepers, shampoo, bath soap and free water but that's not the case here.
environment, decoration, people staying there
the room is too small
Nice staff and room.
Food and drinks a little expensive compare to the outside. The hostel booked train tickets for us but they did a mistake with our name, so we have been refused to the train : - we had to book and pay again an other one - The hostel which have received the refund of the first train is not ot able to give us back, they are not answering anymore to our emails.
I liked the building and the rooms. The staff on reception were pretty good.
Unfortunately the staff in the restaurant/cafe/bar leave a lot to be desired. The man is professional but the small girl with pigtails who acts like a 13-year-old cartoon character seems to throroughly dislike white foreigners. It was almost comical to see her being extremely friendly and laughing around Chinese and Korean guests and then her face instantly change to miserable and moody when she had to serve Westerners. Her behavior made me feel very uncomfortable indeed, and she needs to learn how to be professional. It's an "international" hostel - don't like Westerners (or can't at least pretend to treat everyone the same because you are there being paid to do your job)? Don't work there!
