Pros: Fabulous facilities. Every aspect catered for. Loved the wildlife and the morning visits by the monkeys. Made our stay special
Cons: Nothing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything to do with the lodge was excellent from the meet and greet to area knowledge Friendliness of owners and employees all will to whatever to make your stay as comfortable as possible 10 out of 10 all round
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfast just as ordered. Comfortable room. Friendly owners - good advice on things to do and where to eat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Because of our relatively long stay we were upgraded to the very large and comfortable self-catering unit (including breakfast!) which is a replica of a Zulu-dwelling. We received some basic information over a Welcome Drink but a lot more tips, advice and interesting information are given during the daily "happy hour" get-togethers. Most guests will stay for a few nights and visit the Kruger Park (the Phabeni Gate is around the corner) and do the Panorama Route but for golfers like us this place is also perfectly located with two beautiful courses very close by and a few more not too far away. Philip, the owner, may even challenge you for a round but don't be fooled by his presentation as a hacker! The place itself is very well kept, lovely beds and bedlinen and nice bathroom accessories. The breakfast is very good too. Margi and Philip do their utmost to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible and they definitely succeed in doing this. We can highly recommend this home away from home; we came as guests and left as friends.
Cons: A very small drawback is the dark (but very clean) swimming pool and grassy sit-out area which initially look less than inviting but that is only the first impression. The Wi-Fi in the room was a bit irregular/weak at times.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A very comfortable and quaint accommodation. Absolutely enjoyed staying there. Thanks Phil and Margi for your hospitality and organising the Kruger Safari tour . Cheers
9.6 Excellent
Pros: A very welcome and comfortable place!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If you are looking for a "parents house" to stay, you've just found it! Phil and Margie are the best hosts you will find! The property is lovely - clean, beautiful and easy to find. The room has everything that an international guest needs: from the kettle to the french coffee maker... and umbrellas! Because it rained a lot while we were there... :) Also, the breakfast is delicious! Phil loves to talk about everything and he has a lot of content to share. He knows the political and social framework so well, that I wanted to keep talking and talking! I wish I had more days with them - it was reeeeeeally lovely! :)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This hotel is about a 15min drive to Kruger National Park. The rooms are spacious and very well-kept. The staff and the breakfast was amazing.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Margrit was very friendly and helped us from the moment we arrived till we left. The lodge oversees a farm with a great view. Guest rooms are clean and well equipped with everything you might need. They open directly to the garden where there are tables and chairs for relaxation. There is also a common area where breakfast is served in the morning and afternoon cake, it has a fireplace which they lit after dark that gives a homey and lovely atmosphere to the place. Margrit arranged for us a safari tour with an awesome guide (Trevor). She gave us good recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing around the area. We loved our stay at Abangane Guesthouse and would highly recommend it.
Cons: The road that connects the lodge to the main gate is one-way and not easy to drive using a small car.

Pros: Owner of this property was very helpful and accommodating.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great value in a tourist area. We had independently booked a game drive and the company picked us up from the property. The guesthouse has beautiful gardens and pool area, we saw a bushbaby in the trees at night. Our apartment was spacious with a well equipped kitchen. We used the braai both nights as the fuel was on hand to purchase and we didn’t have to drag it back from the supermarket. A beautiful breakfast was provided, more than adequate and with table service. Management was relaxed, friendly and took their time to value our stay. Thoroughly recommend.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Place is amazing, really beautiful and the staff is nice and helpful. If im ever in south africa again im booking here
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The yard is full of nature and is well maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly. The room was clean and special with cute elephants on the bed made of towels (going an extra mile). The owner gave us tips on what we can do around the area and gave us a map to make life easy, he also gave us tips on how to stay out of trouble with the traffic officers. Their breakfast was amazing and very filling.
Cons: The couch was placed off from everything, we had to adjust it so we can be able to sit on it and be able to watch TV. Our tea ingredients were not replaced from the night before on our last night we had one tea bag of rooibos which we both drink so one had to have it. I could've gone for coffee but the milk was not replaced.

7.5 Good
Pros: A good location to get to Kruger's gate
Cons: Look and feel of basic accomodation
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were clean and roomy. The place is very quiet. An artist's dream
Cons: I have travelled to different cities and countries in Africa and Europe and I can say that this was the best place I have ever stayed at. It is exceptional. The rooms are huge and the services is very personal with excellent attention to detail. But not only that. Tatenda Lodge is located in a quiet surbub next to the Kruger national park. Once you turn from the road, you find a different tranquil environment with wooded trees that provide tropical forest, quiet and soporific ambiance. It's the best place to detox, relax and find intimacy with nature.

Every staff member goes above and beyond what I usually get to experience at a BnB. Hippos in the Sabie river as the backdrop for a dining experience is truly unique.

Pros: Perfect location. The cabin next to the waterhole was great with a very nice view and very spacious. The food was also great, 3 courses or barbecue buffet, and the staff was super helpful. Pros: The staff were attentive to our needs. We went to go for a swim and had forgotten to request swimming towels but to our surprise they brought them to us at the poolside. Also loved that they ensured that mosquitos were dealt with so not to disturb us too much at night. The kids loved the hotel as well as the swimming pool.
Cons: There was a bit of confusion regarding which coffee brand is included as part of the complimentary breakfast for hotel guests. Though this was quickly resolved by the manager it would have been better had this not happened at all. Suggest that
6.0 Good
Pros: The rooms are spacious and nice The outside shower is nice. The poolarea is nice.
Cons: The inside bathroom requires a refit and is bit old. There is a minibar but it was empty. 9.0 Excellent
Pros: breath taking views comfortable beds
Cons: Food, the establishment urgently needs to employ a senior qualified chef, the food was a big let down.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Summersfield is a gem hidden away in the unassuming town of Hazyview. The property is incredibly diverse with a upscale lodge, beautiful farm grounds complete with macadamia nut and lichee trees, a gin distillery, and fantastic restaurant. My partner and I had the pleasure of staying here for a single night but we were still able to enjoy a lot of what the property offered, including some time relaxing at the pool and dinner at the River Café. The staff were very accommodating and helped to arrange transfers for us to make it to our next destination.
Cons: There isn’t much to dislike. We stayed at the property over Christmas so many of the facilities were closed and we were unable to tour the farm and gin distillery. Not really their fault though - their incredible staff need to rest as well!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, attention to detail
Cons: Food could improve
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast venue is perfect but the menu is too limited and if you staying more than 2 days, the choice becomes non existent! I would like to see more various choices
Cons: Consider having an all inclusive package or breakfast and dinner packages! It saves a lot from administrations. After lunch consider light snacks just before dinner
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The tents, peace and quietness. Food is good and staff is brilliant. Grounds are kept to perfection. Spa is very good and have fantastic trained staff, products natural
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this place exceeds expectations. The location is stunning. It’s a relaxing and refreshing place to escape to and worth the price to pay along the majestic Sabie River. Very tranquil and peaceful and a delight of a farm. The Check-in starts at the gate and 2km drive away is a parking lot to the hotel where you will have someone waiting with friendly smiles to take your bags to your room whilst you head to reception for Admin and paper work. After Admin you get escorted to your room by security who also briefs you on safety routine. Also, your bags are also waiting in these beautiful Luxury tents surrounded by trees and streams and sounds from nature. The dinning area is exquisite. The food is delicious. I went to do a run in the morning and I followed their MTB trail in the farm and it was so lovely. I also did their full body massage and it was glorious. I missed out on their breakfast which was a bummer , but next time I’ll plan my morning better as I see on the hotel brochure they raved about not missing their amazing breakfast. All in all, everyone who works is so friendly. I even received a call on my way there checking if I was okay and if I needed any assistance as they were aware I was coming alone from Johannesburg. The hospitality at Summerfields is shining example to the industry of what outstanding service is. Thank you to the staff who were exceptional, from the security, to the room service ladies, to the reservation office and staff at the spa and restaurant-you are amazing. Thank you.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the honeymoon suite. It was amazing and clean. Some bugs in the room but manageable. Food was excellent and service was first class. The hotel organized our private safari at Kruger, they picked us up from the hotel and provided breakfast packs to go. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Cons: Jacuzzi does not work Air-con leaks water into room
9.0 Excellent
Pros: The fact that there was no TV . We got to chat and bond more. The cleanliness of the cottage. Liked the privacy, cottages are not so close to each other
Cons: Have a breakfast menu. So that we get to choose our food preferences on the first day.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: It was a perfect place to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. The romantic ambiance and eye for detail made this a perfect outing. Breakfasts are prepared within Penny's discretionary skills (a daily surprise), but accommodating your personal dislikes. This is delivered, at the time of your choosing (for breakfast) to your chalet in the morning. Their must see list of attractions, exposed the hidden gems in the area that a visiting tourist would not necessary explore. This was just as romantic and special.
Cons: There is not much to complain about. The swimming pool maintenance/cleaning could have been done more regulary, but given the rainy weather at the time of our stay, this was still acceptable.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Would definitely recommend, the owner went out of hear way to cater for our special requests

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: Quiet location. Phillip the guy who did everything.
Cons: Arrived to no WiFi, TV or water pressure to have a shower. TV not fixed for our entire stay of 3 nights. Water pressure issue happened twice, first time we were told there was a burst pipe, so understood. The second time there was no excuse. Owner offered me 300 rand cash back (about £15 of a £210 bill. I refused and told him to at least double it, he did. The owner left Phillip to do everything, we received no apology for the problems.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and gave an excellent service. It felt like home away from home. The place is beautiful. Will definitely go back.
Cons: Wi-fi a bit up and down but sure it's the provider not the guesthouse.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast; Easy to get around the area from the guest house
4.0 Okay
Pros: We loved the quiet neighborhood. The room was very clean and comfortable - good shower!
Cons: Unfortunately we had issues as payment was deducted wrong.Mistakes can happen - we were told the money would be returned the following day. It took them a week to let us know that the money was actually returned to our card. During this time we worried this could be a hoax as we had to move on and just trust them to do it....this caused us to be very anxious and did not help to build trust in the management. It is a little sad that the doors to the lounge room are closed early when few guests are staying - you must then sit outside or in your room. Wifi was first not working - only after we insisted was this fixed after a day.

Cons: Breakfast

Pros: The room was clean. Breakfast was tasty. Lize is a nice person and a good host. The place is so peaceful and lovely, it takes your mind off the busy lifestyle you have in town. Overally I would recommend the place to anyone. I'm definitely going back.
Cons: The geyser was not working but it wasn't much of an issue because it was hot. Mornings are a bit cooler, we could have used a warm shower at least. The wifi was not working in the room only in the kitchen area. Tv was not working either but it wasn't an issue for us as we had other things to do.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The room was clean and relax, breakfast was very good, the view and the aura in the hotel is perfect.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely, huge property, each room is actually a cottage (big rooms, with lots of space) and the tasteful design made it that the bathroom is another interior cottage. All amenities are provided and the property is tastefully decorated in colonial style, it has a pool, big garden, bar area. The staff is very approachable, explained us lots of things, offered advice and details on what to see in the area, especially in Kruger (Skukuza camp - Lower Sabie - Crocodile Bridge route). Also, advance communication was really good, staff sent us very detailed instructions on which roads to take to get to the property, info on which roads have tolls etc. We also had dinner at the property (notified them in advance that we wanted dinner, we paid separately for it) - which was great, 3 course menu with fish as a starter, ostrich steak as main and ice cream as desert, just perfect! Free parking, security guards 24/7 at the entrance and some monkeys wondering around. Very relaxing atmosphere, I would recommend this lodge!
Cons: Just be aware that due to the drought in the last few years, the river bed changed and various sediments now infiltrate the water (from the tap, shower, toilet etc) - water is totally safe, drinkable, soft, but it looks dirty, it has minerals in it which give it a brownish colour, which doesn’t look great. Again, it’s nothing to worry about and it’s nothing the Lodge can do about it (it’s in the whole area), but just be aware and don’t get scared. From the main road, it’s about 2km drive to the property - the “road” is marked, but the bush is quite high (we went in Jan), so it could be a bit tricky to drive in a small car, maybe if they cut the bush in the centre of the “road” it could be easier.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was good. They serve eggs, mushroom and bacon as hot plate. Everything is tasty and good. Location is great. Nice and quite place to relax. Very good located very close to most activities around. Perfect value for the price.

However when phoning them ourselves this was not the case and we did the tour.
