Airport lost all my stuff my room is pre paid in full I get there and they 1St say can't find where was paid after an hour of them talking to
Great location. BART/Muni steps away. Bus, trolly stop across the street. Starbucks attached. Beautiful historic building.
The rooms were comfortable, hotel restaurant and Coffee shop was great.
Parking was expensive
The history and character of the hotel
The banquet hall left trash in the lobby and made the hotel look dirty but the next day it was clean.
I stayed at the hotel the night before and after my trip to Burning Man. It has a great location, just a block from where I caught the Burner Express. It's also right on the subway and streetcar lines, and within walking distance to a lot of shopping. The hotel itself looks like an elegant hotel that has seen better times. The lobby is highly decorated in an old style and is beautiful. The hotel is very large. It was quite a walk to my room. The room itself was fine, but nothing too special. There is a Starbucks and a nice restaurant attached to the hotel.
When I arrived the first day in middle of the afternoon, they were a little understaffed, and at one point there was a about a 5 minute span that no one was at the desk to check people in.
Central location Fast checkin / checkout
There were bugs in the shower and the elevator didn't work sometimes.
It is a historic hotel, so that is charming.
The rooms are small, even the beds are small and short. I hope you like it close and cozy with your partner. Our room smelled really bad like urin, so we changed the room. But even the other room had a wiered smell. I don't know how to describe it. The bathroom is o.k. the tub was old and yellow but you saw it was cleaned up. What made me really angry was the parking situation! I paied 38 dollars plus tax per night. I mean you are in San Francisco where you can see broken windows in cars all over the place. It is not like you can have your car on the street or somewhere else. Especially cause Market Street is not a good area at all. You shouldn't go out there at night. So for me it was much saver to place the car at the hotel but it was to expensive!
Great staff and very comftorbale place
A lot of homeless outside the hotel but there is a great security
Convenient location downtown.
Staff were all grouchy and rude. We found dirty socks in the room.
Shower floor had mildew View a wall and construction site Room smelled Had to get a candle and spray
Loved the detail of building design inside and out. Step back in time with the interior lobby details. Wood details on ceilings. Elegance from lobby to elevators to hallways. But has all the modern details you desire inside rooms.
Room a bit small but not bad for a couple . View not especially good.
I liked that it was close to the muni which made travel easy. The rooms were nice enough and comfortable. It was a quiet hotel and historic restorations were nice.
I did not like the location being in the tenderloin for the price. A block in any direction would make ty out feel unsafe. Especially at night. There was construction immediately next door which no site listed and they started at 7am on a Saturday morning. The staff could have been more courteous and informative. The ac stopped working after the second night.
Beautiful hotel! I'm glad we stayed there.
Not a thing...
Understaffed. Horrible area of town Dangerous to be outside Valet is over $40.00 a night Rooms smell like my grandmother's basement Staff were absolutely unconcerned with guests Bar and restaurant hours are horrible Bar and restaurant staff as unfriendly as they come Rooms are dirty and unkempt. The noise is unbearable. Constant road noise even from 7th floor Horrible bathrooms with poor facilities Just a run down, beat up, poorly staffed disaster
Dirty, Bugs in Shower, Barly any hot water in shower.
I have stayed at the Hotel Whitcomb several times. It is very centrally located and is an excellent value for the money. It is an older hotel, but the owners have upgraded those parts of the rooms and hotel with which the guest regularly interacts. The rooms are clean and spacious. The beds are comfortable. The staff is courteous and attentive. The BART station is very close and the cable car terminus is about six blocks down Market Street. Again, it is a good value for the dollar.
-Had to flush toilet over and over -Windows would not fully close -The heat did not work and was missing a nob... -Comforter was thin as a sheet and looked like one...I was so cold both nights -Bathtub was not as clean...I went to cvs and got products to fully clean it
The location is great. Couldn't be closer to the BART, so if you're coming or going to SFO this is super convenient. Market St is pretty happening, so that's fun. The bed was comfy. The place across the street has an unbelievably good breakfast burrito- yum!
It's historic, but rather stodgy. My cell phone didn't have service, and the wifi is kind of pain. WiFi always eventually worked. Market St can get a bit adventurous, so at night you might want to walk in pairs.
I loved the heritage features of this hotel. Beautiful wood mouldings, marble and crystal light fixtures make you feel like you've stepped back in time. The hotel rooms are simple, but nicely appointed. This hotel was good value for money. It is a 3 star hotel and I think it was very nice for a 3 star hotel, better than most, but if you are looking for 4 or 5 star hotel features and amenities then this probably isn't the hotel for you.
Amenities are a bit limited, no room service, no mini fridge or coffee maker, no pool. Pay per view movies weren't working during our stay, but we weren't there to watch movies so it wasn't a big issue. The hotel is in a bit of a rough area, but I still felt safe on the streets. No one bothered me. A short walk or tram ride takes you to Union Square and beyond to the Piers and Fisherman's Wharf, so you are close to better areas and it's very central.
The location was great and the metro was right outside the front door. Larry, the door man was wonderful! As were the parking valets, the maids, and the concierge. The room decorations were appropriate for the hotel's style and feel. The bed and bedding were great. The room was clean. Overall it was a great deal for SOMA and I would stay there again.
Bathroom shower was very low and hard for my husband to use (he's 6'3), the bathroom door stuck and was hard to get open and closed, TV picture wasn't very clear (but it wasn't a huge deal).
I stay here once a year. This place is an older hotel but it was great. Had a good room, it was clean and had no issues.
Good location. The hotel is right at civic center which is easy access to the financial district or china town. Very ghetto area though. Starbuck in the lobby. And thats the only good thing about it
Parking is limited. Horrible staff. Bad customer service. They dont care. Room stinks and dirty. Not worth for the money. We had to change rooms twice.
The bathroom kit was bad The room didint have box sabe The ligth in closet was poor,The bathroom kit was bad The room didint have box save
Staff and restautant were great.
carpet in hallways were wrinkled and very unsafe
Metro/BART station right outside. Starbucks on lobby floor
Old hotel Near bad area, Tenderloin, worst area in San Francisco in line for over 30 minutes to check in in line for 10 minutes to use the elevator bed was broken and slanted leaving me to sleep practically on top of my husband bathrooms absolutely need to be redone view of the hotel made it look like we were in an insane asylum air conditioner very loud felt very dirty
Location. Easy approach from the south. Close proximity to public transport (BART and MUNI entrance is a steps from the front door). Nice bed and bedding. Old school decor and large rooms. Helpful staff though some weren't particularly friendly.
Wonderful decor looked worn in places. Slow, crowded lifts (didn't appear all were running). This survey is poorly written.
Beautiful lobby Clean room Good bed linen Comfortable bed Starbucks in the same building
Shower has EXTREMELY low water pressure Garbage trucks were making very loud noise every morning around 5 AM under our window Hotel is located in rather bad area with lots of homeless people and resulting smells and garbage on the surrounding streets Problems with retrieving car from the valet parking which wasn’t cheap - $35 a night Long wait for elevators, not sure all 4 were working No coffee or tea in the room Towels are old and not very good
Yes it was an old building... We were ready for that... They seem to be doing the best they can with the building at hand. Our room was clean. Staff wasn't rude just wasn't pleasant either.
Mattress was caved in on both sides... Needs replaced. Shower pressure is very low. Elevator takes FOREVER! Little shadey right outside the hotel.
