Housed in a 17th-century building overlooking Piazza della Minerva square, this Rome hotel is two blocks from the Pantheon, 500 metres from Piazza Navona and Piazza Venezia, and near a metro station.
Pros: Service was superb. Classic elegance and at the same time, very convenient. Access from the main Piazza and to the marina.
Pros: The location was why we chose this hotel. We were a twenty minute hoof to St. Peter's one way, and five minutes to the Coliseum the other way. It was a great home base from which to explore the eternal city. We were also surprised when they upgraded our room at check in. Room size was outstanding for an older hotel.Cons: We've stayed in many dozens of old hotels throughout Europe, so we are not surprised when some parts of the experience are a little ragged. It had been unusually warm. I figured the building's environmental systems had been switched over to heat for the winter, so our room was uncomfortably warm. After a shower, the tub took a long time to drain fully. The minibar was restocked before our second night. Even though we took nothing from it, we were charged for items used by previous guests. Lastly, we did not get turn-down service on our last night. But these kinds of missed details are typical for Europe, and did not bother us.
