Dropped off the car after hours. We were charged to refill the tank (over $200!) even though we had returned it full. Tried calling Hertz but waited on hold for an hour. Tried sending a message through their website but got an error. Only option was to do a chargeback on our credit card.7.6 Good

There were many issues with the car. First it had over 37,000. miles on it and it was unclean. The gear was sticky, apparently something spilled on it. I went back to the desk in La Guardia and was told that this is the only car they have in the class I have and the upgrade was astronomical. I took the car for 2 weeks and didn't use it for long drives since the back wheel was shaking terribly. I called Hertz a number of times wasting hours of my vacation on the phone, while they were looking for another car in this class. They never got back to me and the phone disconnected a number of times after staying on the phone for up to an hour. I couldn't waste anymore time on this and had friends drive me around and I had to use public transportation. The rubber on the windshield wiper was faulty and left unclear lines during the rain. This was the worst experience I have had with a rented car ever.Thrifty

Cons:
Car smelled like cigarettes, i prepaid online and then was charged extra at pickup, more than doubling the rental cost. " Mandatory liability insurance, concession fees that weren't mentioned online and $44 for a toll pass which I chose to add). None of which were mentioned online when reserving and paying "In Full". My $125 car rental turned into $300. Felt like a bait and switch. Dishonest advertising. Once i was there for pickup, i needed the car and had no choice but to pay what they were asking.4.0 Mediocre

Pickup was a mess. Unfriendly staff. No choices. Handed the wrong car (paperwork handed to me didn't match the plate on the car) so was turned back by their security guard when trying to leave the premises. Had to fall back in line again - staff acknowledged they made a mistake. Finally received another vehicle. Tried to contact Thrifty halfway through the rental when the car had mechanical issue - spent forever on the line (on hold) and was not able to resolve the issue as they had too few staff available to deal with the issue.4.0 Mediocre

I made a reservation in advance but the SUV I reserved was not there when I arrived. It then took 20 minutes to get ahold of someone to find the vehicle. Then took 20 minutes to clean the vehicle. On my return. There was no one to greet me or check me out.2.0 Poor

Pick-up and drop-off was a fairly simple process.Cons:
When we received our car, the tire pressure light was on. We connected with an employee who filled the tires with air. When finished, the light was still on, but the employee said that "it's because the tires need some time to warm up" (it had snowed two days in a row previously). We had a car for a total of three days and two nights. The tire pressure light never turned off. I wish the employee had taken more care to look into the issue and/or escalate the matter so that we could receive a new car.6.8 Okay

The ladies at the desk were disasters. They were busy playing with each other instead of assisting customers. I had to reminder them many time that I had to go. The lady that help helped to me said I had to upgrade because my car size was not available even though reserved ahead of time. Which I declined but she charged me aways for the upgrade.
