The car I was given was old and had a mechanical issue so I had to swap out at the airport. I felt for the money I paid the service and vehicle did not match what it should have been.

Hertz is THE WORST! They didn’t help at all and especially the lady at the NYC register… she was the WORST.. no help at alla and she never mentioned that the plan to leave my car at 11pm at my destination in orser to pay with a debit and not my credit card couldn’t work.. in any question I had, she djdn’t knkw the answer… disaster

Pros:

The pickup process was quick and easy and I was glad I was not pushed to purchase additional coverage and all fees were explained to me clearly. I also appreciated the prompt receipt sent to me the day after I returned the vehicle

Cons:

The address provided for returning the rental car was at least several blocks away from the actual location, which led me to circle around looking for where the actual Hertz location was. I also was not aware that the location was closed over the weekend, hence I didn't know how or where to return the car keys.

It was a fantastic experience - they first gave me a free upgrade, but wasn't the car I wanted, so they went to another shop to get what I needed. Later, I needed to extend my booking and they responded at 7am! No hassle, and everything was taken care of.

After arriving at the facility with a Lyft for our pre booked rental we then had the hassle that due to fact they have now only have chip pin payment and my chip was not working on my credit card and company policy is they won’t accept debit card, nor would they let anyone in the party pay the “refundable deposit” they just say there with blank looks on their faces saying there was nothing they could do, we were about to drive from NY to Florida, so luckily for us Budget was only a few blocks away and they as always went out of their way to help us get on our 10 day road trip ! Nice to see good old American Customer Service is still alive at Budget as Alamo sucks with theirs!!

Pros:

Car was ready on time and was pretty clean. Price was good.

Cons:

The pick-up location said not to worry about preexisting scuffs or scratches on the car because they were so small, but the drop-off location tried to pin those marks on me. Fortunately, I took a video of the car when I picked it up, proving the marks were already there. The drop-off location dropped the issue right away after seeing the video.

Pros:

The staff was super helpful and friendly. One of the best experiences I've had picking up a car in NYC.

Cons:

I wish the tank was full when I picked it up. It's a bit more complex to return a tank at 5/8 than to return one that is full.

Pros:

We needed to change cars because the windshield wipers on the car given to us in New York did not work. After much grief (see below), we were finally given excellent service and a new car by Joe and Cassie at the Enterprise office in Augusta, Maine.

Cons:

The car we picked up in New York had a faulty driver side windshield wiper and was unsafe to drive in the rain. We tried to call Enterprise from the road and got bounced around and nobody could help us. We finally located an office on our own (The last person we talked to said "Call 911"!)

Cons:

The man working the desk at AVIS was doing his best and it was not his fault but the computer system was down and they had no one to back him up. We waited 1.5 hours in line to get the car delaying our trip significantly. Nothing from AVIS to make up for it in the inconvenience, a discount even an apology... very disappointing experience.

The agent didn’t inform me that there wasn’t ez pass in that particular car. I didn’t know I had to monitor this despite saying “please add insurance and EZ Pass (because I know I’m going to New Jersey)!” My rental cost now doubled. The gas level was also incorrectly noted, so I had to fight that!
