10.0 Excellent
Pros: Short walk to centre of town and bike shop; great facilities; bike store in basement, with drying room; continental breakfast was good; staff very helpful.
Cons: De-humidifier or vent in drying room - massive humidity just created warm/damp/smelly shoes and socks for next day!

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The property was very clean and well looked after. The facilities for cyclists were fantastic with ample parking for the mini bus and secure storage for our bikes. The drying room was a bonus and there were numerous tools available to make repairs. The rooms were immaculate with excellent space and hot showers. USB ports were also available on our bunk beds
Cons: Our party couldn’t really fault the property, but we definitely think cooked breakfast should be available rather than continental option.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely rooms and great breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was well considered and well arranged. Our room was really comfortable, it had a wonderful bay window overlooking an interesting park on a quiet street. The room came with a great array of goodies to try, like home made fresh chocolate biscuits and fruit, and surprises all around the room. The staff were super helpful and took great care to welcome and explain their home and room. The couple clearly work hard to make their guests feel like Royal guests. We had a family room each with a separate bed. We also had a sofa and space in both the room and the bathroom. My father raved on and on about the professional level of food preparation and the ultra fresh fruit on offer with the breakfast. This guest house should be top of your preferences to stay in Penrith, because it is so central, yet so quiet and handy too. We enjoyed our short stay and cannot fault the standards and offer on any level.
Cons: I did not like the fact we paid the same price elsewhere on our trip for a far lower standard. Other guest houses will struggle to match the Albany's excellence. Perhaps the only thing I did not warm to were the pictures of Tuscan countryside houses adorning the walls on my Cumbrian adventure. They did bring sun and colour to the rooms, but my point is that they perhaps celebrated the beauty of other places rather than stunning Penrith and it's beautiful surroundings. I found that funny.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We came very last minute in the evening after moving from a different hotel in a nearby area but they were very accommodating. Very clean and comfortable! The little touches in the rooms are lovely too. You can tell the owners look after the place and care. I didn’t catch her name but the owner also gave us some information on where to go on the Sunday morning after I’d had my delicious breakfast, so we had a scenic drive home!

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Roaring fire in lounge, great bar food, friendly staff, large very comfortable bed, very clean and a great breakfast. Tebay is always a wonderful oasis just off the M6 junction 38.
Cons: Young mans attitude checking us in was leaving much to be desired. he was treating us as though we knew nothing about the accident that happened the day before when we were tying to explain to him that there had been a serious accident that night near the hotel that he did not know about or believe! Very frustating know all attitude. I suggest he gets some training regarding how to behave checking in guests.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: If Carlsberg did motorway service hotels this would be it. A gem in the Cumbrian countryside yet close to M6. Great stop over on the way to Scotland. The views are stunning. The lounge with the real log fire. The bar has a lovely local gin. Comfortable bed with thick duvet.
Cons: Petrol is expensive!

Cons: The room was very warm but that’s a very personal thing.

Pros: The accommodation had a warm, spacious and homely feel and Pru,the guest house owner, was most welcoming and accommodating, even giving us a lift to our wedding venue. The breakfast was wonderful and hearty on a cold December weekend, with plenty of choice. Pru was exceedingly attentive and nothing was too much trouble- thank you. We will be back to explore the area further.

Pros: Breakfast was very good lots of choice❤
Cons: The bathroom needed an extra clean the manager gave us free desserts with our evening meal so no probs the manager actually rolled me some cigarettes as I'd run out there are no shops nearby.

Pros: Staff friendly and sorted out the problem with a faulty pump causing no hot water very quickly, well done. Food excellent, comfy bed
Cons: Needs a little maintainence in various places of the hotel, flaky paint on ceiling in lounge
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view was amazing. Beautiful view of mountains and water. Loved the setting and the room. Fabulous location. Would be amazing in summer.
Cons: Obviously we visited in January and it’s an old building. But we were both really cold! So took the shine off as we had to wear coats in the room. We are farmers, so we are used to being a-bit chilly.. however when you go away you hope it will be warm!
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The view from the hotel was stunning. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t have been more helpful.
Cons: Our room was far too hot. Even when we turned the radiators off we struggled to sleep because of the heat.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best value for money * best location * Best staff * comfy cozy rooms * warmth and cleannes to the detail * feel at home vibe * you'll feel well taken care off * Excellent breakfast * Good variety to choose from their menu * art deco * Best location for nature lovers.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Wonderful ambience, a stepping back in time kind of place on the edge of Hawes Water. Cosy fires, 1930's decor, period music to complete the mood. A bit tired around the edges which is part of the charm, really, and still, a little gem of a place. It feels like you have arrived at a big old country house for the weekend. Staff was very obliging and friendly. Slightly elevated pub food, which was very tasty, served in the bar area . I did not check out the dining room where the menu may have been different.
Cons: On arrival, no hot water at all!! This was obviously not something that they had control over. They had tried to reach me about this situation but as I was driving all day I did not receive the information. As I was only staying one night this was not a huge inconvenience and as compensation, the hotel offered a free meal and a free bottle of wine which I felt more than made up for the inconvenience.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Away from it all location Dog friendly Room with a view Food
Cons: The mattress in our room needs replacing as it was sunken in the middle
7.3 Good
Pros: Well presented and friendly staff, good menu for the bar and lounge, secluded location.

5.0 Okay
Pros: Staff very attentive , freindly
Cons: No tv in bar
7.0 Good
Pros: The food at the resturant was very good as well as the hotel accomadation being of a high standard.
Cons: Not all Television channels available (this was not a problem for us, as senery was so lovely we didn't need TV)
5.6 Okay
Pros: fantastic position, loved the balcony overlooking the fells and the reservoir, bed was cosy and the public rooms and terrace all really good features: good breakfast
Cons: Disliked all the signs eg re bathwater economy ( bit like a boarding house!): we were sorry there was no shower for those not in ensuite rooms, also no washbasins in the public lavatory rooms: had trouble washing or drying my hair in provided facilities ( tried in bath then washbasin, then trying to dry it with the hand dryer was awkward): there was no soap in the public bathroom sinks and they were rather draughty bathrooms: it was a great pity bar meals stopped at 6.30pm esp as good choice and menu: we didn`t want the evening meal and in the end went out to local village Bampton for a meal
6.0 Good
Pros: the ideal sutiation in a very pecefull area
Cons: no

Cons: Only issue - the bathroom has an interconnecting window which was high up and frosted. At 0645hrs someone in the adjacent room turned the light on causing my room to get light! I was having an extra 20 minutes in bed before getting up and this spoiled the plan! :(

Pros: The location was excellent, the accommodation excellent and the breakfast was very good. The staff were friendly, helpful and very pleasant to deal with.
Cons: The dinner menu was slightly disappointing and not, in our view, up to the quality of the rest of the hotel.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the new apartments—superb. The staff can’t do enough for you—even as we experienced a Penrith wide power outage. It was so quiet—relaxing up in the ridge. We’re looking forward to enjoying the grounds when we return in the summer.

Pros: Great hotel once you've found it. A bit tricky in the dark. Very helpful and friendly staff evening and morning. Superb breakfast. Why don't all hotel breakfasts taste that good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner was absolutely delicious and they could not do enough for us. Very please with the room and the lovely views! The breakfast was also exceptional.
Cons: There wasn't really anything we didn't like - staff were great, it was clean, we relaxed near the fire and had the room to ourselves for most of the night which was nice!

Pros: Lovely room. Food was of good quality.
Cons: The swimming pool was too busy. Full of splashing children. A couple of babies in nappies, not very hygienic.

Pros: Staff were superb, all very friendly. Cleverly designed family room with ample space.
Cons: Restaurant service was slow, - apologetic but still an hour for a childs meal and 2 main courses

Pros: Location and restaurant
Cons: Room cold due to radiator running cold. Had to ask for a portable heater.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Almost everything was spot on. Location ideal for taking a break to sleep on the route north to Scotland
Cons: Just three small things: 1. the room was pretty cold when I arrived with the radiators off. No air conditioning to control the temperature. I had arrived late so just wanted to go straight to bed and it was chilly for the first hour or so. 2. The staff at breakfast were not as lovely as the bar and reception staff (except one lady who was really nice and helpful). I was almost given a little telling off by a female member of staff for lifting the lids of the pots at the buffet to serve myself - there had been no-one there to serve me when I arrived and I naturally assumed it was self-service as buffets usually are (and really ought to be). 3. The flat white was too hot and not strong enough for a flat white (coffee is sooo important)

Pros: Excellent bed. Lovely surroundings.
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: Quick friendly check in and help with how to get to the car park at rear of hotel. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Room very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Very good bathroom and shower facilities. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and large.
Cons: Room just a bit on the small side. Superb bed but pillows need to be better than the foam type.

Pros: worked
Cons: difficulty in finding car park
6.4 Good
Pros: Attractive decor downstairs, room clean albeit very small, good clean bathroom with good shower, good quality products used in the breakfast, even the tea was good, unlike a lot of hotels in England. Having a free car park is a bonus.
Cons: Some of the upstairs decor was a bit unusual, and the door to my room was shabby, which undermined the superb appearance of the ground floor decor.
