Pros: The room was large, clean and beautiful! The property was cozy and we were made to feel very welcome even if we arrived quite late in the evening. Excellent breakfast in the morning too.
Cons: N/A
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Highland House is located a short distance from Mariposa in a secluded and elevated spot in the woods. We felt very welcome and at home in the property—lovely to arrive to cake and cookies in the kitchen! The bedroom was very peaceful and the only noise during the night was from the wildlife and wind in the trees. The turkeys running around outside in the morning caught us by surprise, as did the lovely hummingbirds feeding at the sugar station in the dining room window. The breakfasts were great, cooked for us by Nora, who was a very friendly presence. We made the visit to Mariposa several times, and spent a day in Yosemite—we entered the park via the south entrance and the drive over was easy and picturesque. I can imagine that the house would be a lovely place to cosy up in front of the fire and while away an evening. N.B. The last bit of the journey up to Highland House is on gravel track up a hill, so worth being aware of that. We were in a 4WD SUV, though a regular 2WD sedan seemed to get in there fine when we visited. But off the beaten path was exactly what we were looking for.

You get good suggestions for the park from Michael and the other guests. In the morning there is a great breakfast, fresh cooked for you.

Pros: This B&B is located a short drive away from civilization and that’s a positive thing. When we arrived we knew we had arrived in heaven. It’s a very scenic place with nice views. The room was clean and nice size. We had the most peaceful stay there. You could see and feel that the hosts have really though about what a tourist could need for a convenient stay. I would especially like to commend the breakfast which was just lovely. We stayed there for two night and both breakfasts were totally different and one more delicious the the other. I would return there without hesitation.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was home cooked and really nice. Owner gave us some baked cake to take with us which was delicious
Cons: Dogs in the kitchen not very hygienic. They were not there for breakfast itself but they stayed in kitchen during the day
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Out of the seven hotels, inns and B&B we visited during our trip this one was the best. The room was vast and it was well decorated. You could tell the owners had put some time and attention on it. The beds where comfortable and clean. We ate a delightful home cooked breakfast and Hélène had the added attention of giving us some homemade shortbread for our day trip. It was much appreciated on the trail in Yosemite park.
Cons: Nothing negative to say but take note that Mariposa is still an hour away from the Arch Rock entrance of Yosemite park so be prepared to get up early if that`s your destination. Mariposa itself is an interesting town.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: There is not enough words to describe this place. This is the place to relax before and after your hiking in yosemity. The hosts are super nice and kind, the room is clean and cozy, and the breakfast is everything.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Helene and Rob are a great couple running a fab B and B, it’s a great quiet location, just a few minutes walk from all of the local amenities. A good sized bedroom, the comfiest bed ever. the house is a delight. Dietary needs catered for (we’re vegan). The only way it could be improved is to have tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Ruth Ann and Monte are a delightful couple. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bed was good. The breakfast was wonderful!!! Ruth Ann and her helpers accommodated our vegetarian diet just fine. We were there four nights and had four different breakfast menus. As we waited for breakfast at 7:30 am, we could watch Monte putting out food for the animals. We saw mule deer and wild turkey as well as hummingbirds and several other types of birds all at close range. At breakfast we meant other couples from Germany, Wales, Australia, and the east coast of the U.S. It was fun to get acquainted with them briefly. Both Ruth Ann and Monte are well acquainted with Yosemite National Park and are a wealth of knowledge. On the first morning, Ruth sat us down and helped us plan our days in the Park. She suggested two trails--North Dome and Sentinel Dome--we had not seriously considered prior to this. They were very rewarding trails. Thank you Ruth for your suggestions. They were always interested in what we did during the day when we came in for the night.
Cons: Ruth and Monte seem to have 3 or 4 rooms for guests. By some reason, we ended up with a room where we needed to exit the room and walk two steps to the bathroom. This is not a big deal and did not materially take away from our overall opinion of the place, but it was an inconvenience. We felt a bit warm in our room. We could have opened the window, but were afraid we may get too cold. There was a ceiling fan we ran that helped. Yosemite Nights B&B is WAY out in the country. This is nice in most respects--it was extremely quiet. However, getting there in the dark, especially the first time, was a bit disconcerting. It also takes time to get back to Mariposa and the highway you need to get into the Park. This is not really meant as a negative, just a warning. If you know its a long way back into the country ahead of time it will be easier.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I liked everything but most of all Ruth Ann and Montie have been amazing hosts. Ruth Ann gave us all the information required to have an amazing visit at Yosemite Park, including itineraries we could do and time needed to get there. She also provided us with a list of restaurants to go to in Mariposa. Ruth is also an amazing cook. Loved breakfast everyday. On top of this, we loved the humming birds and the deer coming for breakfast every morning :) A lovely place to be! Thank you very much. Ana and Nico
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room and bath were spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing and varied each morning. We were even given homemade muffins to take with us on our day’s adventure. While we had coffee we watched the deer and wild turkeys come up to the yard to feed. A wide variety of birds also put on a show. The hosts made us feel like family.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The place is very nice. Good breakfast. Lovely hospitality.
Cons: A little far from the park entrance. More than a hour drive.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast delicious. Bed was perfect-slept like a baby. View out the kitchen/patio was wonderful. Lots of birds to see.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was amazing, Ruth and Montie are amazing people and really made our stay amazing. Location, hosts and food is great.. better than a five star hotel!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Amazing hosts! Ruth Ann and Montie were full of super insider tips for where to go, what hikes to take to avoid crowds and get an amazing Yosemite experience, and they were super fun to talk to. The family style breakfast was nice. The food was delicious and filling. And Ruth Ann sent us off with yummy baked goods each day. We really felt like we were part of their family, if only for a short time.
Cons: It's a bit remote (outside Mariposa on a gravel road), but that's also part of the charm. The wifi connection was unstable, making surfing the Web to prepare for travel a frustrating experience.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Hosts were WONDERFUL! Accommodations very comfortable! Breakfasts were outstanding! Loved watching wildlife every morning.
Cons: Very rural area, little difficult to find, GPS led us astray, still about an hr. from Yosemite entrance, however best area outside of park to stay.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Excellent breakfasts!
Cons: Outside grounds need a lot of work!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is a remote location in the woods. The owners were very welcoming, and made us feel like family. Lots of wildlife to observe!! The breakfast was delicious and abundant, with a treat to take with us each day.

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Location. Mariposa is a lovely, lovely town. And close enough from the park. The hotel is quite charming. Comfortable beds. Very nice staff. — on a side note: the 1850 serves the best burgers I’ve ever had. Very close from hotel.
Cons: The use of plastic. Didn’t like that napkins, sugar, etc. for the coffe came all in a plastic bag. Plastic cups for toothbrush wrapped in more plastic. They could be a bit more sensitive to that. I would have given them a 10 if it hadn’t been for that small, but crucial detail.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very friendly and responsive. The property is locally owned and operated and very comfortable and well kept.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very big room. feels like a private home. very comfortable, can't find anything bad to say, really.

Pros: Affordable, comfortable and clean. Perfect hotel room to visit the foothills or Yosemite!
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Location from town.
Cons: Would not like some of the front rooms, we were in the back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed at this property twice. First time was with my girlfriend. It was a smaller room but very clean and comfortable. The second time super exceeded my expectations. It was like having my own apartment minus a kitchen. Would definitely recommend. The guy who checked us in was super friendly and made sure all was perfect for our stay.
Cons: Only thing missing was a tub..however the shower was HUGE with two shower heads.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location. Size of the room. Walk in shower. My overall experience was affected primarily by the noisy tenants above!
Cons: It wasn't the room itself. Very impressed. Our unfortunate experience was upstairs noisy neighbors up most of the night. I was awakened several times!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was a good size and close to restaurants.
Cons: The front desk is a booth off the parking lot and is not always manned.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable, pleasant, accommodating staff.
Cons: No closet, just and armoire with no clothes hangers
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We were only there for a little over 12 hours, but were very impressed with the staff, cleanliness, and location. There were 5 of us and the suite was spacious and comfortable.
5.7 Okay
Pros: The size of the room was big compared to normal rooms in other hotels.
Cons: Definitely need to change carpet and couch. Could not even sit on it.

9.6 Excellent
Pros: The innkeeper was absolutely delightful and took good care of us from the start. She gave us good recommendations for restaurants in town, and also put out a nice little continental-type breakfast in the mornings, with coffee, fruit, yogurt, and pastries. The room was nice—complete with a tub/shower and an extra sink outside the main bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the pillows soft.
Cons: The only drawback to our stay was the loud music from the bar next door as we tried to fall asleep. It was really only on Saturday night (we were there for a Saturday and a Sunday), and only because we tried to go to bed early so we could get up early to do some more traveling. Once the music stopped, we slept really well!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very welcoming host (Mary). She gave us good suggestions about our visit to Yosemite and local restaurants to visit.
7.9 Good
Pros: Period room of a good size ... pre retro ! But lots of character. Mary the host was wonderful with lots of great advice ... comfy bed !
Cons: I would stay here again but : we didn’t get the verandah room we booked (maybe under repair) , front room was noisy on Main Street and provided and early wake up ..... also very bright when the sun came up. Breakfast was a bit of a let down and there is no parking at the property per se ..... the fact is that you park on the street ..... otherwise all good.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location! Comfortable beds.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mary was so wonderful. She had a lovely breakfast our for us, good coffee and she referred us to an excellent restaurant.
Cons: Heater could have been quieter....
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very charming place.
Cons: Room could use a refresh.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Right on the main street of town, yet room 6 was insulated from street noise. Two humming bird feeders were very popular.
Cons: The bathtub in room 6 had a hose-end shower, but no shower curtain. I don't know how a person is supposed to take a shower without spraying water all over the bathroom.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast. Clean cozy rooms. Perfect walking distance to shops.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The 2 cookies and coffee were the cherry on top. I also liked the tile floor.
Cons: That their wasn't a trash bin in the restroom.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I stayed one night at this lovely little inn. We loved it - the room was comfortable and clean. It was right in the middle of this little town and we enjoyed walking around and exploring Mariposa. This may seem like a strange thing to mention, but the towels were extremely soft, which is rare in my experience with hotels/inns. When you're washing your face, it makes a difference to not feel a scratchy towel on your skin...little things go a long way. The women who run the inn were fantastic - super friendly and gave us great advice about visiting Yosemite. I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: The shower was very snug, which wasn't a problem for me, but I could see that it might be a problem if I were older and/or required more room to maneuver. It didn't detract for my overall experience though.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean. Easy late check-in. Extremely friendly and accommodating staff! Breakfast available (and delicious!), although we had to grab and go. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others!

Cons: The staff was unresponsive.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable bed. It's nice to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Friendly staff. Beautiful surroundings.
Cons: It's located in a very sweet town. Very comfortable and clean, but we stayed a couple days and the housekeeper didn't attend to the room until we left. Not a big deal, but it's nice to have clean towels and the bed made. It's about a 45 minute curvy drive through the mountains to Yosemite. Beautiful! But keep your eyes on the road!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: New bathroom but small shower and sink area, comfortable bed and pillows (I wish they were bigger), Direct TV is excellent, Wifi great, heater/ac works great, coffee is excellent. Price is affordable and I will defiantly visit again.
Cons: The entrance doors are hard to shut and next door guests kept slamming the door again and again going in and out to smoke, very annoying.

Pros: Restaurant was very nice for a small town and extremely friendly waitress.
Cons: Air conditioner in the room did not work at check in. When I told them about it they jumped right on it and got it fixed right away, great job.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: good value
Cons: no time for breakfast
6.0 Good
Cons: The breakfast was simply disgusting and pathetic.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We've stayed at another hotel in Mariposa last year and this hotel is FAR Superior. We were very impressed by the staff, the hotel was fully booked, but the rooms were comfortable and quiet. The complementary breakfast is worth the money alone: hot eggs and bacon, make you're own waffles, fresh fruit, and TONS of pastries. A lot of local shops are just a walk away. If you're wanting to go to the "downtown" area, you're going to want to drive down.
Cons: I couldn't find anything that we didn't like. The thing I can see people might not like is the "age" of the rooms and furniture, but you're nitpicking, in my opinion.
6.0 Good
Pros: The bar/restaurant on site was awesome. Everything was clean at least.
Cons: The hour tub was broken and that was the main reason I booked there. The water in the shower fluctuated from hot to cold constantly. The towels felt like sandpaper.

Pros: Breakfast had so few choices that we drove down the road to Burger King instead.

7.5 Good
Pros: Great place
Cons: Not many food vendors around the place
8.0 Excellent
Cons: We paid extra for an in-room spa that did not work and I am still trying to get a refund.

7.7 Good
Pros: clean rooms, comfortable bed, parking close to rooms the lot is well lite at night.hotel is next to the 140 hwy that leeds into yosemiite park.the hotel is half the price as the hotels in the park, its well worth the extra beautiful drive.
Cons: the continetial breakfast, not alot to choose from but it was the middle of the week with few rooms occupid then.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Microwave and fridge worked. Beds were fine. It seemed like staff was actually available 24 hours (I didn’t test it though),
Cons: Had to pay for wifi 7.99$, two pillows per bed, tv didn’t work, only one room key, ice maker didn’t work, only one extra blanket in the room.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very good deal for the cost. Rooms generously large with multiple beds. Pool on premises. Breakfast included. Great location. Large screen TV with multiple channels. A/C. Staff were very helpful when I called to let them know I had left a pair of shoes behind.
Cons: Nothing.
6.2 Good
Pros: This is one of the most affordable hotels you can find for staying near Yosemite National Park. If you're headed into the valley, it's a 45-60 minute drive. The room was clean, the sheets and towels were fresh, and there was a good amount of floor space. It's directly across the street from a gas station and there is plenty of food options within walking distance. The staff were all very friendly. While not the greatest hotel, it's a convenient spot to drop your bags and take a shower at the end of a long day in the park.
Cons: Unfortunately, there were some downsides. The refrigerator was unplugged upon arrival. The microwave was plugged in but didn't work. The alarm clock was broken. Using the tv required some very specific instruction as to how to turn it on. There was an $8 charge each day for the WiFi. There was a small new congregation of deceased insects in the sink each day. Again, not a place I'd want to spend a whole day in, but a fine place to sleep before heading out.

Pros: The location is pretty good
Cons: The front desk lady was the worst staff I ever had. During my check-in, she almost lost my driver's license! What's worse is that she insisted she gave it to me. I tried hard to persuade her to check it again and she found it under her computer.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was okey, just one night to be closer to Yosemite. There is a bus service from Mariposa to Yosemite so its quite convenient during winter. What I liked more was one worker on the desk, she was only one morning there and we only talk with her few moments from our car, but she helped us very kind and nicely, and a really pretty smile :). Honestly, I wouldnt need any more reasons to go back this hotel!
Cons: Everything was okey.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was helpful
4.8 Okay
Pros: Location, towels and bed.
Cons: Overpriced for what it is.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was very nice and helpful. Located right in the heart of Mariposa so you can walk to shops and restaurants. Bed was very comfortable.
Cons: It was a little pricey for room, but to be fair it was July.
5.7 Okay
Pros: Reasonably close to yosemite
Cons: The room reeked of fresh paint fumes. It appeared that the hotel was managed / owned by a couple. The man was accommodating enough, but the woman was incredibly rude when I asked for an extra towel.
8.8 Excellent
Cons: We notice our bed was just made, sheets were not changed
7.0 Good
Pros: Location was great. Walking distance to all eateries. Staff were super friendly and happy to meet our requests. Breakfast was also good. It is an older style hotel and very reasonably priced.

Pros: Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Reconstruction going on
7.7 Good
Pros: Walkable distance to restaurants and shops. Not too far from Yosemite. Room was clean. Owner was nice and helpful.
Cons: Smell of curry everywhere is a restaurant. Room was right next to the lobby and the elevator. Kinda noisy. When we asked for another room, we were taold all the other rooms were dirty. Windows were facing the sidewalk. Vending machines are not working, had to ask the owner for assistance. Didn't have a microwave in the room, although it was supposed to be there.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: A nice clean hotel. Great location, great value for the money.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The owners were incredibly nice and helped to recommend the most amazing hikes and sights in Yosemite!
7.0 Good
Pros: Its very rural but it was a cheap place for a overnight stay only. Its cosy and big with a nice room upstairs. Its four cabins beside each other, and we had some friendly neighbours giving us good advice about Yosemite.
Cons: Except for the cabin we had there was no facilities. We knew that when we booked it. The room was a bit cold and there was no instructions for heating options. The internet could reach outside but was not usable in door.
7.0 Good
Pros: It was cozy
Cons: It was very outdated and not so clean
5.0 Okay
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the linens soft. There was ample hot water and excellent water pressure.
Cons: The cabin is maybe 30 minutes from the edge of the park as claimed, but it's another 4 miles (at a 35 mph speed limit) to the admission gate, and several more miles to any of the parking areas, so be prepared for at least 45 minutes of driving one way, assuming that the weather is good. You can take the YARTS bus, but it only comes a few times a day and will take a little over an hour to get you there. Our cabin room supposedly came with a kitchenette. There was an additional sink, toaster, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker...and a single hotplate. There was dutch oven, a six inch skillet (with no lid), a small soup pan (with no lid), some cutlery, mugs and plates, one steak knife...and nothing else. Don't assume that you're going to be cooking any normal meals here. There was a small electric space heather that was the sole source of heat-the thermostat on the wall was purely decorative-it fell off when we touched it because it was not wired to anything and the drywall mounts had come loose. The included toiletries consisted of one small bar of soap and a 1 oz bottle of shampoo. While the hostess was friendly the two times we saw her, there were no instructions provided on how to check out, so we left the key in the room when we left and hoped for the best. There was also no contact info provided. The cabin also had no phone, which was a concern since there's no cell reception or internet access available.
5.0 Okay
Pros: Place clean, bed Ok. Quiet!!! The cabin itself was adequate.
Cons: Not the easiest to find especially after dark, Looked like you were driving into a dump area when turning off the main road. Bathroom cold! No heat!! Room heated with space heater. Junk furniture on porch Food facilities not on property, however up the road a short way.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Awesome water pressure and very hot water
Cons: Needs glassware

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Fridge and microwave, comfortable bed, good water flow, heater in the room works great and fast, it does get really cold at night if not on at least every 4 hours ...
Cons: Shower curtain needs to be changed and it isn't really cleaned to the detail, they should give a bit more attention to their bed side lamps... Door locks but doesn't close all the way, let's in cold and light
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The mini fridge and coffee facilities were a good feature. We arrived early and were able to check in (but still waited half an hour as the front desk wasn't attended)
Cons: The shower taps were back to front so we initially thought we had no hot water and almost gave up on trying to shower. I remember seeing past reviews that people didn't have hot water so they probably had the same issue as us but weren't as lucky to get it sorted in the end.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The location
Cons: The bathrooms
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Affordable and semi close to yosemite. Hot shower, really comfortable bed, appreciated the microwave and refrigerator and ice machine and tv reception.
Cons: Still pretty long drive on curvy road after hiking all day in yosemite and tired. Really long drive if heading to hikes in tuolomne meadows or hetch hetchy areas-- better location for Yosemite valley travel
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, renewed rooms and cleanliness
Cons: Broken air-dryer and unfunction TV+dash
6.0 Good
Pros: Very clean
Cons: Room very small.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location is great. It’s about one hour to the National Park and the drive there is really nice. There are a lot of good restaurants and an affordable gas station nearby. Furthermore, the staff is really nice.
Cons: It was really cold because the isolation of the room is pretty bad. As soon as you turn of the heater, the room turns icy. The bed is not really comfortable, especially when two people share it. Every time one moves the other one wakes up, because the bed makes so many noises.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This may have been the cleanest room I have ever stayed in. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Yosemite. Also, there was someone in the room next to us for at least one night, and we heard zero noise through the wall. It was great!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Please felt like it had been there w while but had a nice relaxed homely feel.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Located in the most beautiful little town with kind and nice people. Mariposa is such a nice little place to stay when visiting Yosemite.
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: It was dirty, it was not well maintained. Spend some money on fixing it.
4.6 Okay
Pros: Location.
Cons: Uncomfortable. Heater did not work. Hot water did not work and the room was dirty.

Pros: The room is beautiful and with all the things you need but the best part are the owners! They are super sweet, helpful and their breakfast is amazing!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: centrally located in town and the activities we wanted to go to in other small towns as well as Yosemite and the Merced River. the breakfasts were phenomenal and kept us going till late afternoon. our gracious hosts H’elene’ and Ron were great. it was very comfortable and you felt like you were really part of the family.
