Pros: Breakfast was simple but really good - my 11 year-old was always looking forward to breakfast time, together with jumping in the swimming pool as soon as she was awake. This is a small property and you feel special, not just a number in the middle of another 100s of guests. The location (Imbassai) is more remote, less “city” feeling - we even saw some “micos” - marmosets - while at the Pousada. The beach nearby (10-15min walking) is superb. The Imbassai river is an added bonus, it has sandy beaches and the water was nice. Flor and Carlitos were very attentive and gave us nice tips on where to go, dinner or visit around the city or nearby region.
Cons: There was no shampoo in tho room. It seems that it is not practice for “Pousadas” to supply shampoo, just soap. Easily remediated - there was a couple of convenience stores nearby.

Cons: There are not enough English speakers (it may help to have info written in a letter to English speaking guests just in case things get lost in translation). The Oxum buffet area was filled with flies and there are a lot of ants near the lounge areas of the hydrotherapy pool and the adult pool.

Cons: Some guests reserved pool side chairs with their towels for an entire day, only to return to them during the afternoon. Making it almost impossible to find a spot by the pool unless you wake up very early. Hotel management should make every effort to stop this kind of abusive behavior from most guests.

Pros: The hotel has a wonderful location - lush green, wild river, and kilometers of unspoiled beach. The rooms are ecological and nicely decorated but there is a need for better maintenance. The people in the hotel are very positive, helpful and making their job in a good mood. The food at the beach is really great! We enjoyed it very much. The evenings under the stars at the ocean are unforgettable. We nicely got the upgrade from the garden room to the beachfront after half a week which is really much better because of fresh air which we missed in the garden house. I would recommend booking the ocean side house also because ot the great view and the nice ocean noise.
Cons: There in one big thing which was annoying us very much: the level of security within the resort and lack of right information about the safety around the hotel. We had a very bad experience at the beach - two men in masks with the knife robbed us. We were not injured, but we lost our iPhones, money and credit card. And had a shock. We are not the first time in Brazil and usually are very careful. But we especially asked at the reception about the level of crime in this area. And we got the answer to how peaceful this place and it was never bad happens are here. Maybe after our scary experience, we filled not safe at the nights too. We think that one guard with the small dog and the bicycle lock on the front gate is definitely not enough in such an unsafe place.

Pros: Breakfast was really good and changed daily. The huts are very cute and well decorated. The beds are not the worlds worst or best. With a fan at night, it was not too hot without A/C. The property has beach access with chairs and a bar/restaurant right on the water. The pool was unnecessary and the mosquitos by it were bad. Dinner must be eaten in town which is a short 5-10 min walk, with a few very good options. We had the Posada arrange a car from Salvador airport for 230,000 one way. It was super easy and quick. They also have security at night, which was nice.
Cons: The bed was not the most comfortable.

Pros: The location is great - the beach is serene. The room is small - but the linens - amenities were all there and clean and well kept. The hotel provides fans to beat the heat - but that does not really help in combatting the heat there, so staying indoors during the day is impossible. Which means you have no option but to be by the beach.
Cons: Breakfast options for vegetarians (no eggs, no meat, no fish eaters) are negligible so paying for breakfast was completely a waste for us. The ventilation and fan in the rooms aren't enough to beat the heat - so we barely got any sleep through the night. For travellers who do not like heat that much - stick to a hotel room with air conditioning.

Cons: I booked a room with no AC. There were 2 fans in the room, though. But it was still a bit warm for me and my sleep got a bit compromised. So, be aware of it when booking your room!

Pros: The area is big, the rooms are confortable, although the double bed is not king size. Shower worked good, pool was great and it was indeed a big property.
Cons: When we asked we weren't told about the event next door happening that night. Two hours later I heard they advertising it and the owner said the music would go onto 10pm. It went well over midnight (other people told us it would last until midnight). I thought we could have been warned up front about it and not told it was going to last until 10pm only. The photos online show a kitchen in the room, as soon as we booked the owner got in touch to say our room didn't have a kitchen. The description did say some rooms had a kitchen but the owner said the rooms offered online don't have it, so I don't think the photo should be there.

Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The one problem we had with the TV was fixed addressed and fixed super fast. Service and food in the restaurant and pool are were also outstanding.
Cons: The only thing that could be improved is offering wi-fi connection at the room. During our stay we could only get access by going to the common areas, which was a bit inconvenient.

Pros: Relaxing & charming property. If you want a tranquil getaway, this property is calling your name. Nestled in a quaint jungle, 10 minutes walk from the beach, Vilangelim was perfect. You are greeted with wonderful staff, delicious and well thought out breakfast, a gorgeous pool, with birds chirping and your cocktail at your side. This neat place, is adult only, so you can read, decompress without kids screaming. Rooms are clean and comfy with an individual hammock & balcony. Perfect stay for a solo traveler!

Pros: Our second time in this pousada, the first time with our kids, wonderful reception (thank you owners Sophie and Nicolas). It was full since it was a feriado (public holiday) and the other guests were delightful, we talked to many of them and our kids made friends with the other kids very quickly. Wonderful breakfast, home made jobs, we felt like royalty Of course, the best is the private path from the pousada to the dunes which take you to the beach, nobody around, a truly magical experience.

Pros: The hotel is very nice, clearly is growing up, a new hotel and new area of tourism in Brazil. The nature is perfect, the ocean, the florest. The hotel is in front of a beautiful beach with a nice pool. The hotel is located inside a very small village, with very simples houses, restaurants, but you can really recognize the Brazilian life, see how the local people lives. I felt safe, I did not have any kind of dangerous situation. The people working in the hotel very nice and trustable. I recommend the place. My boyfriend is German and he appreciated a lot the place.

Cons: The location & entrance to the Pousada were as if you're heading into a jungle, which naturally suited the raw nature of the place. However, i was a bit concerned when i walked back at night as it's deserted and i must walk for 5 mins on foot.

Pros: Nice and cozy place! Bedroom and bathroom was clean. Towel changes everyday. Good breakfast with breads, season fruits, coffe, milk and regional like baked bananas and goibada. The beach is clean, almost paradisiac. We visited during "winter" season at end of may. The sea is rough, but its ok to an adult who know how to swim, to get in safely. Days with sunny and some showers occasionally. Temperature arround 27· celcius. Wonderful sky at night.

Pros: The property itself is very well laid out, and really is right between the river and beach. We could walk to everything we wanted easily. We were near the less-crowded beach area which was really nice. The breakfast was great, and the check-in and out was really easy. We enjoyed the spaciousness of our hut.
Cons: This does not reflect the property itself, as it was not their music, but it is in a location where you can expect to hear blasting music each night if you are near the river, especially if there is a special event. The music carries across the river from the town. It ranges from a consistent bass thumping, to full on lyrics. The only complaint we have about the hotel itself is that water is not included in your stay. You cannot drink the tap water in Brazil, and it is frustrating that there are no options for free water. They do have a fridge with water and an assortment of other beverages, however, you need to pay for them. There are areas close enough in town to buy your water, but the first night we did not have them and had to use the ones in the fridge.

Pros: Excellent location, right in the beach, perfect for families with children. Friendly staff, outside area is large, with lots of space for children to play. There is also a large leisure area (pool, chess, tv room, several playgrounds for children, etc.) there are several really nice beaches closeby (santo antonio, praia do forte with its piscinas naturais). The resort is mainly focused on brazilian (and to a lesser extent latin american) visitors. During the low season (august) the hotel is busy during the weekend, when people from salvador come down during the weekend.
Cons: The rooms are relatively small, and the facilities are a bit dated, although well maintained. The offer in the bar is also a bit limited, although the fresh juices are fabulous.

Pros: The hostel is fantastic! Especially loved the chill out area which makes you feel like you’re among the trees. You can exercise there in the morning and read in the evenings. Beach is close by as is the town if you want to buy food or go out for dinner. If you want to switch off and slow down, this is a great place to stay!

Pros: Great stay at Lujimba, in the middle of nature and only 7 mins to the beach! Market, restaurants and stores are only 10mins away. Welcoming and adorable staff, always here to give advice. Good continental breakfast. Rooms in the dorms were clean. Loved this place!
Cons: Small detail but my bed space did not have a plug in, wish there has been yoga classes and it would have been perfect!!!!

Pros: Very good staff. The cabin is big, clean and comfortable. Pool is fantastic. Fried red fish and shrimp moqueca were excepcional. Location is good near the river and sea.

Just 300 metres from Imbassaí beach and its village centre, Pousada Jasmim dos Poetas offers an outdoor pool, a relaxing garden and buffet breakfast with fresh fruit and juices. Pros: Breakfast was simple but really good - my 11 year-old was always looking forward to breakfast time, together with jumping in the swimming pool as soon as she was awake. This is a small property and you feel special, not just a number in the middle of another 100s of guests. The location (Imbassai) is more remote, less “city” feeling - we even saw some “micos” - marmosets - while at the Pousada. The beach nearby (10-15min walking) is superb. The Imbassai river is an added bonus, it has sandy beaches and the water was nice. Flor and Carlitos were very attentive and gave us nice tips on where to go, dinner or visit around the city or nearby region.
Cons: There was no shampoo in tho room. It seems that it is not practice for “Pousadas” to supply shampoo, just soap. Easily remediated - there was a couple of convenience stores nearby.
