Upon arrival, we were told the car class we reserved was not available. The only way we could rent a car was to pay MORE money for an upgrade. The Hertz clerk could not have been more dismissive, uncaring or unhelpful to the situation. We were left needing to find an alternative solution, and ended up spending 90 minutes on the phone with Hertz to get the situation sorted. Terrible experience.Reviewed 11 Aug 2026

I had to wait for 3 and half hours after the schedule time for picking up my vehicle. And then when I finally got it, it was not the type of suv which I had paid for. I got a compact suv instead of the one I booked, which was an intermediate suv. And they did not even adjust the price. It was a bad experience in all.Reviewed 3 Jan 2025

I cancelled this order and they have not refunded me fully and it’s impossible to get ahold of a representative, when I finally did they said it would process. Almost a month later affirm is charging me and hertz only gave me a partial refund and I’ve had to reopen this issue with them but it has yet to be resolved.Reviewed 2 Aug 2024

We booked for 12pm pickup and showed up at 12pm. They close at 12pm on Saturday. We were not able to get the car. Called Hertz and they said it was our fault for not checking the hours. Hours were not listed in the booking confirmation.Reviewed 13 Jan 2022

Car was clean & in good condition. Excellent communication from everyone especially the manager Tess & the lady who checked us out at the gate, they could not have been friendlier or more helpful. One exception of when picking up the young lady did not seem to know we were covered for insurance & presented us with a bill for $99 she said which was for an extra day, we were not taking an extra day which was clearly stated on our rental voucher (which she did not want to see) I questioned the amount to be charged & this was amended immediately. Rental in Oakland: Choice of cars was rather poor, seems to be related to the Corona Crisis though. No information about upgrades. No GPS available. Staff was very friendly but was apparently not trained to understand international travellers‘ needs and questiones who havn‘t had a lot of experience on the US car rental market.
