This is our second time at Templeburg. It was even better, we love everything about this place, location, quality, peace, food, nature, Sri lankan style at its best. Adorable owner, staff and chef.
The property itself is beautiful, the shower gets hot, the dinner the manager cooked us was really tasty and beautiful. The owner is extremely responsive when contacted.
A large and terrifying scorpion came out of the grass for me within my first couple of hours. I know what you’re thinking ‘deal with it’ but some prior warning would have been great. There is an abundance of dogs on the property who are sweet and well behaved Until nighttime when they have quite terrifying, loud and vicious dog fights right outside your door all night. The night watchman shines a light into the jungle every house which comes through the windows and under the doors and is again, terrifying. The pool floor is full of broken and sharp tiles and the water is dirty. It says unlimited coconuts when you check in but the coconuts are so limited I wasn’t able to have one. The manager talked over us when we tried to explain our first nights complaints. We experienced a storm and both our roofs leaked which meant we had a light shower when in bed. A new experience, and an unpleasant one at that. It’s a gorgeous property but the on site management is complacent and have let what could be an amazing experience turn sour. Oh also the pictures are very misleading, the place I’d the epitome of ‘shabby’
Great location! Enjoyed the villa and it’s facilities. Stunning place with so much history. The surroundings are beautiful and inspiring. Pool is just amazing.
The property was gorgeous, it was decorated beautifully, the garden was beautiful. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff were kind and thoughtful. The power went out one night and the staff were around with candles and torches for us straight away.
Unfortunately it rained and rained and rain but obviously it’s not the property’s fault!!
Breakfast was good. The fruit bowl was lovely and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere at Templeberg. Shain and his staff are wonderful - every ready to help and always smiling, despite the power cut and the delay in power coming back. The kids enjoyed the pool very much. Shain was also very understanding when I called after returning to Colombo and finding out we'd left a pair of shoes behind. Hope it's in the post :)
Lunch was not sufficient on the day we arrived - the soup was great, the chicken was tasty but the rice qty could have been a little more. Perhaps it was affected by the power cut in the area? Not sure. Qts seemed very measured. Tea and coffee were also a bit watered down. This was my family's 1st visit to Templeberg and my 2nd. I felt like my first experience was better. Will be back on a B&B basis perhaps.
