Amsterdam hotels in Centrum

Cons: We prepaid for our stay, and upon checking in at 3pm we’re told the hotel was full, but they booked us another room at a different hotel which we would have to walk back in the opposite direction with our bags. They volunteered to cover the city tax for us for the inconvenience, making a big deal about how generous that was of them), however, when we tried to check out of the new hotel, we were told we would still need to pay city tax. They called Hotel Estherea to see if they would honor their promise and they refused. It took multiple phone calls and a great deal of time and hassle before they would agree to honor their original promise. Far too much time and trouble to deal with from a hotel that I prepaid for. I had read a similar review before booking but thought maybe it was a one time thing. When I was actually there it felt like a regular routine they might be up to, taking prepayment for a room, then booking a room at another hotel at a lower rate and pocketing he difference. Stay away.

Cons: not much in the immediate area but everything else is on 5 min away

Cons: Room had odd shaped useless bedside tables. Counter was the only shelving facility in the room. Not enough for toiletries, phone/charger, wallets etc. we ordered dinner in the room and had no where to place the dishes except if we removed our stuff or ate on our laps. Most uncomfortable design. Hotel was located 15 minutes away from the charming city hub (on foot). Overall it didn't add any good impression to make it worth returning to.

Cons: We did have to do some rearranging of the furniture to get some more space between my friend and I, and ended up finding a large amount of dust under the TV stand. Lift was out of order.

Cons: Air condition is not working in the room. Business rooms are in another building across the street. Rooms are small and not too comfortable. Parking costs 55 euros per day The room is expensive comparing to any other such an hotel in Europe. I was expecting much more...

Cons: My room was in a construction zone accessible only by stairs!! And construction resumed right outside in the morning. They shouldn't put people there, or should start construction later in the day. I also found it a little odd that there would be no usb jack in a business suite.

Cons: 1. Heating was a major problem. 2. Parking is a nightmare. 3. Shower hot water not as hot as it should be. 4. Complimentary coffee in the lobby area is absent, though one can pay EUR 2-2.50 for a cup. Should be gratis. Once this is attended to, this will be able to achieve deserved greatness.

Cons: Cleaning rooms is being done partially and irregularly The bathroom had one kind of liquid soap for everything(hands, body, shampoo) also, there was very little of it. Our reservation did not incl. breakfast which also increased expanses.

Cons: The room was very very small. No closet for our clothes. Just a tiny narrow and short place to hang a few shirts. No place in the bathroom even for putting a towel while showering. The WiFi didn't work for 95% of the time.

Cons: The worst thing about this hotel is that you can hear even the slightest noise from the rooms up above you. I got woken up almost every night by people coming home from the bars at 1 or 2am. I thought it was just loud drunk people but after changing rooms we could the people above us again.

Cons: WIFI is absolutely HORRIBLE. you would pretty much get no wifi in the room. you have to go to the lobby to get SLOW wifi.

Cons: A bit noisy if you leave the windows opened, but you can close them and that cuts off some of the noise; it is city center after all.

Cons: Not sure if my expectations were different because I'm American, but I sorely missed having an ice machine, microwave and small fridge for use. There was a mini fridge in the room but it was secured as it contained minibar items.I didn't open it for fear I'd be charged for items. Furthermore, I wasn't sure there was any space inside for non-minibar items. I also never received a facecloth during my stay.

Cons: Lack of information ,should make clear what the hotel offers .ie. breakfast not included no smoking signs ,never saw in rooms but rooms was clean and nice.

Cons: The room was incredibly stuffy as there was no A/C. We couldn't open the windows at night because the building construction next door started promptly at 7 am and the noise was unbearable with the windows open. Would never had booked here if I knew I would get about 2 hrs of sleep per night. The price was decent but now I know why!

Cons: The maid service was sub standard for a $300+/night hotel. The bed was made but other items were never straightened.

Cons: Our room was on the first floor, so keeping the windows open at night for a breeze did not work out as the street noise was too loud. Our last night we noticed a small visitor in our room, a mouse, who was persistent and did not want to leave. It was our last night so we just said our goodnight to our guest and slept, it's an old building so I don't think it is an "infestation" but rather something that comes with staying in an old, large building.

Cons: It's a bit expensive, and going up and down stairs can be annoying with luggage.
