Mumbai hotels near General Post Office

Pros: It's the taj. It's lovely and our room was freshly redone since last year. It's way too expensive for what you get, but where else would you stay in Mumbai? Breakfast buffet was always amazing in the past, this stay we were super disappointed. Milk was UHT from a box, selection was limited, took ages to get water refilled.

Cons: Wish we could get up earlier for breakfast. But the beds were too comfy to leave.

Cons: I’m absolutely disgusted that on my 5th stay at the Taj upon check out they do a well known “scam” where they convert your bill payment to your home currency on your credit card without asking you . Therefore my bill of 22,000 rupees which should be around £220 came out at £246 . This is because this conversion applies terrible rates. Ive paid 10% more than the bill . We have noticed this scam being tried at various places in India but to have it at such an establishment as the Taj is absolutely dreadful. In one place we had it they denied knowing it but when I pushed them to select rupees they said the amount would have to increase. The staff at the Taj have clearly been instructed to do this which is absolutely astounding. If they even try to deny this they are plain liars. Imagine the amount of extra money being made from people that do not realise. It’s down to the paying customer to choose whether they want to pay in a difference currency to their bill. I have emailed the Taj but with no response and I urge one of them to contact me soon. On top of this I was moved to an “upgraded room” in check out in the palace wing. Room 545 which was actually not in good condition: bathroom tiles need cleaning and ceiling full of cracks. As my girlfriends said “it Needs a freshen up” not the usual standards I’ve seen there. Really disappointing.

Cons: When we order food and paying by card they ask for my card number??? Why should i give my card number to anyone ? This is against the rules

Pros: The hotel was very extremely elegant and clean considering how many people pass through the foyer all day and night. The rooms were exceptionally comfortable. We ordered room-service and the manner and way in which the meal was delivered and set up in our room was exceptional. Room serve turned out to be Intimate fine fine dining

Pros: The club lounge amenities combined with the excellent staff customer service makes this resort one of the best in Mumbai. The staff pays attention to every bit of detail!

Cons: I fell sick on my last day in the hotel, but the staff was very sweet. They even sent me an in-room complimentary breakfast on the day of my departure and allowed me to check-out late. Hands down, the best hotel in Mumbai!

Pros: The unexpected highlight right at the beginning was the airport pick up with a limousine (german car). It continued with a very warm welcome and an upgrade into the Oberoi part of the complex. Receptionists and all staff were overall friendly and helpful with advice. The room was fancy with technics, super modern bath, great views and a wish to be able to stay much longer! ... great breakfast buffet! The outdoor pools are clean and big enough for swimming and relaxing.

Pros: Yuvraj and co were so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay there and always happy to support a place that is environmentally and socially responsible. We need more of these places in our planet. Keep up the good work!

Pros: Abode Bombay definitely exceeded all our expectations! It's perfectly situated, you can easily walk to the main sights there are to see in Colaba. There's also a handful of very good restaurants and bars in the area. Not to mention the area feels safe so definitely suitable for families. The room was super cosy! The beds are hard to get out of, they're just so comfy! Other advantages were that the room was super quiet and immaculate, very very clean! Free water is supplied every day in the room and you can get refills in the kitchen. Breakfast is delicious, every day they offer something different. We happened to be there on Christmas Day and they were serving Christmas cake which made our day! It's little details like this that make staying at Abode Bombay so special. The staff are always looking out for their guests, trying to make their stay more comfortable. We will absolutely be back, thank you for your kind hospitality and for helping feel at home!

Pros: This place is a really cute boutique hotel and great value for what you get. The staff are so friendly and happy to help with anything. The breakfast was great as well. The room was also very comfortable as well and a good size. I was worried about the shared toilet but actually it was fine and the staff keep it all sparkling clean. We also did their morning tour which was worth it to see another side of mumbai.

Cons: There’s no ventilation in the shower so it doesn’t dry - would be great if the hotel put a squeegy rubber mop so you could get rid of most of the water - easy fix and it’s still a lovely place worth to stay.

Pros: The property is an amazing building that has little hidden nooks and areas designed to make you feel comfy and spacious at all times. The management team were beyond amazing. Their general day to day kindness and knowledge was fantastic but the crisis avoided was me leaving my passport and cash in the safe and the manager riding to the airport with it, meeting me at check in helping me stay calm as the challenge unfolded. I can not thank the lady taxi driver who initiated the rescue and the manager enough for getting my belongings to me. Now it’s time for the beach. I had loved my stay before this incident but obviously now I am smitten. See you in 2020.

Pros: Everything was superb! The staff were wonderfully smiley and accommodating. The design and aesthetic were divine. Superb location. Wonderful food. All round one of my favourite hotels in the world now!

Pros: Loved the vintage/retro interior with original wooden floors. Very clean and great location. Super friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Will definitely stay again.

Cons: The AC is very close to bed (in the budget room at least) and can be disturbing. Bring ear plugs if you’re sensitive

Pros: Good breakfast, awesome staff and good location. A bar or restaurant on the roof should be available. it is a pity to waste a spectacular view like that.

Cons: Aircon was quite loud, but one got used to it. One way glass would have helped with a sea view, especially the lower floors. Curtains needed a clean and we found a pink hair ribbon behind the door in the bathroom when we arrived, presumably left there from previous guests. We left it there to see if the room would be cleaned properly. The ribbon was still there when we left.
