Pros: One if the great nights and hope to able to do it again. Amazing food and beach walks.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: - Staff speaks great English, communication was very smooth. I felt very welcomed. They did a good job introducing the courses at dinner. - Room was very spacious and comfortable. View is great. Beautiful building and very quiet all the time. - Private Onsens are great. I had no difficulty finding an available onsen. They are all very clean and nicely maintained. - Both dinner and breakfast were of great quality.
Cons: The hotel is 10-15 mins walk from the Izu-Kogen station. It can be a little difficult if you have a lot of luggage. It will be nice if the hotel provide a shuttle service.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was perfect. Worth the splurge!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Our welcome and the staff were excellent, extremely helpful and English was spoken. The setting is lovely, amongst trees and nature and the local walks along the coastline were one of our favourite parts of our holiday. Breakfasts and dinners were an amazing experience and lived up to expectations and in the seated dining room, dressed in our Japanese gowns, were a very authentic experience. The onsen (springs) were a welcome relaxing experience.
Cons: Our room (601) felt a little small and basic and there wasn't room to unpack all our stuff, particularly when the futon was laid out. It was also right above one of the springs, which given they are open 24 hours and there is no sound proofing to speak of, meant we were kept awake by other guests using them when we went to bed, at 2am and then 6.30 the following morning. This didn't feel very restful! The onsen themselves are wonderfully hot with nice views out on to nature in some of them, and though I appreciate it's difficult to keep such a humid environment looking good, they looked a little tired. This place was the most we have ever paid in our lives for a 2 night stay and although the staff, food and environment were wonderful, it didn't sadly feel good value for money. Perhaps in a different room we may have felt a little differently.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great communication with the hotel. A map in English was emailed to us soon after the booking was made. Spoken and written English were excellent, especially convenient for foreign visitors. Very thoughtful regarding meal seating. As we do not have kids, we were allocated in the dinning room without kids. Various sizes and setting of private onsen available round the clock, which makes a wonderful experience. The local ice cream sold at their own shop is a must!! Each of the courses for dinner and breakfast was well explained, with menu printed in English. The local scenery is breathtaking. The walk is easy and close to the hotel. All in all a wonderful stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect two night stay of R&R
Cons: For light sleepers because outside is so quiet you can hear a bit of noise from other ryokans etc but nothing ear plugs don’t fix
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Natural setting, lovely baths, tranquil atmosphere
Cons: Would be nice to have hot water ready for green tea with a sweet snack when one gets back after a long day

Pros: We liked the open-air bath in our room. The staff were so attentive and hospitable. The dinners, both Japanese and French, were simply amazing and exceeded our expectations.
Cons: The wifi in our room did not work well at all. They lent us a mobile phone which we could use as a personal hotspot and it worked reasonably well (but not fully).

9.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are all extremely friendly, polite and helpful. Dinner and breakfast are excellent!
Cons: Would be better if the room wasn’t on the basement level. The bed linen was a bit on the rough side but the duvet cover was very smooth.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The property is beautiful and each of the rooms carefully thought through with beautiful gardens. The food was impeccable, particularly the teppanyaki and the bottle of Chablis we had was divine. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend
Cons: Nothing
6.3 Good
Pros: We enjoyed good breakfasts and excellent dinners. As we stayed for three nights, we had the chance to try every type of cuisine on offer. The kaiseki was very good, the French cuisine was excellent and the teppanyaki delightful. Portions are just right. The private onzen bath we had was really agreeable and the water temperature is adjustable. We especially like the small sword museum as well as the video with clear explanations of how samurai swords are made. Scent bag making was also fun and a pleasant activity on a rainy day.
Cons: The place really needs a face lift. They put in a new wing but the old wing is the one that requires extensive renovations to remain competitive and attractive. The lobby area is very tired, the carpet was old and worn. They also need to clean the toilet bowl thoroughly as accumulated dirt is visible and rather offensive. Non-Japanese staff not up to standards and totally lacks Japanese manners. Found out that the owners are Taiwanese - well, I hope they remember that this is supposedly a Japanese ryokan and a certain style of etiquette is expected.

Pros: The hospitality and food were 10/10 and very good value. You’d easily pay $140 per head for the dinners, excluding the breakfast, and private onsens.
Cons: It’s a little out of the way, however the hosts picked us up and dropped us off whenever needed free of charge.
10.0 Excellent

Pros: 7 hotspring that you can use privately/reserve. Hotspring bath in your room. Amazing food and super kind staffs. Gorgeous view of the ocean from the room and baths. Quiet, tucked away in Futo, so glad to have found this gem! Would stay again!
Cons: Only thing is it is a bit far and not central to the spots in Ito and such, but that’s also a positive thing since you will be away from the crowd. If you are looking for a quiet get away this would be a great choice! Owner is also very nice to have taken us to places we go to and pick us up.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing. This convinced us to also try the dinner, which didn't let us down. The host was very nice and both picked us up when we arrived and drove us when we left from/to the train station. There is a superb view from the room and the private onsen available is very cosy. This is definitely the best place we have stayed in Japan.
Cons: I would have liked to have some drawers / closet for unpacking. But the room was very big and there were some hangers provided, so it was not a big issue.
6.3 Good
Pros: The breakfast was very good - if you liked fish. My wife didn’t and had very little to eat. The outdoor Onsen was fine and we really appreciated the owner giving us a lift to the station.
Cons: Previous reports suggests the need for an upgrade. For the price the renovations need to start ASAP. The indoor Onsen didn’t look good so we didn’t use it.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel owner and his wife are very helpful and polite. They make delicious food with heart. It seems that we had fine dining every meal. On the day we departed, they even made us snack for our lunch. The room and the dinning room are clean with beautiful view. The outdoor hot spring is good with beautiful scenery.
Cons: Too many steps to go up the hotel from the road. The indoor hot spring is a bit too worn out.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Staff were warm & excellent and traditional first night dinner was incredible. Views are stunning view of this cozy Japanese beach town.
Cons: Some of the furniture is a bit old.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great view across the bay. The property itself is very small with just 3 (large!) rooms, therefore very homely atmosphere. We enjoyed the on-site Onsen very much.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff Delicious Japanese breakfast Huge room Amazing view
Cons: Onsen (Bath houses) could use alittle work, but they were perfectly usable

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Near the station. Booked the room with an onsen and it became the highlight of the trip. The hotel's onsen was also absolutely amazing.
Cons: Pillow is a little hard. Air conditioning is very warm and unable to change the temperature.
6.0 Good
Pros: Attached onsen in room & first come first book private onsens. Location with amenities Near to the coastal
Cons: We had to lay our futon beds. Hot in the room during the day time.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Staff, location, food, room
Cons: Nothing. Maybe the hot spring pool is bigger are more comfortable(current seems not easy to have wind when use outdoor hot spring pool)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: - Room was clean and tidy, with a big window and can see the sunrise - I had stayed in a room with private osen bath which was wonderful - Public osen (indoor & outdoor) were good, very comfy for relaxing - Staffs spoke good English and helpful - Many restaurants and a super market near train stations, easy for meals and snack - The milk from vending machine (outside the osen) was AMAZING, very fresh and good to have one after osen bath
Cons: - only one size of “yukata” (a Japanese style casual summer wear) provided and was waaay too long for a 156cm...
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Can tell that the property was recently renovated so the room was new and clean. The onsen bath in the room was also a great experience. Dinner was delicious as expected of Japanese ryokans, very satisfied!
Cons: Nothing much to do in the town, but if you like relaxing in the onsen throughout the day, this trip would have been worth it anyway!
7.0 Good
Pros: Seems newly decorated and very clean. Both the in-room onsen and the public onsen are well above average. Room is spacious.
Cons: The Kaiseki dinner is average compared to similar standard hotels. The room doesn't have any special view. The lack of a free shuttle pick up from station is most disappointing as it is a good 8 minutes walk particularly with large luggage. Facilities is very basic, without a snack restaurant nor any entertainment.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Amazing breakfast and dinner. Staff are nice and helpful. Lots of space in the room. Amazing onsen in room.
Cons: /

Cons: Food was super expensive and average at best.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Golf here is amazing and the spa/onsen were great
Cons: The hotel is in need of a major facelift. It’s a fantastic property but looks like it’s frozen in time (1950’s). It’s charming in some respects but the experience of staying/eating/golfing is expensive and some basic updates are needed.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: The location of the hotel is really great, as well as the hotel grounds. Staff was very helpful, professional and spoke English. Room was very spacious. We enjoyed our stay at Kawana Hotel.
Cons: We booked a private outside bath, which was said to be discounted in the event of rainy weather. In the hotel it turned out there's a strangely complicated process for it which meant we didn't get the discount, even though it was raining at the time of our bath.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Great location with sea view, pristine onsen overlooking the sea, classy room service and well trained professional hotel staff
Cons: The Fuji Course is beautiful. Staff exceeded expectation with a last minute opportunity to play the Fuji Course a second time.

Pros: This exceeded my expectation a lot. Everything was so great, especially the service, the food, the privacy in the room, and all the facilities we have. The room was traditional Japanese style, very clean, spacious and has a private onsen. I had a great time with my family and I think it's great for couples as well. Cons: None
9.0 Excellent
Pros: - Amazing private Onsen in the room - Great service and wonderful 7 course dinner - Traditional Japanese room - Bathroom was really well equipped including face masks, free toothbrush and hairdryer
Cons: - You get a free traditional kimono/Yakuta to wear but not much instruction so we had to google! - The neighbourhood does not have much going on nearby but we didn’t explore much so there might be more in downtown Ito - As you can see, almost nothing! We would definitely come back
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very spacious. The meals were excellent. Staff were very polite and helpful.
7.1 Good
Pros: The room with private onsen was great. Beautiful garden and a spacious tub. The staff was lovely and worked hard to effectively communicate with us as English speakers.
Cons: The hotel outside of the room did not have the historic ryoken vibe. We did not use the shared onsen and the pool was not open.
6.3 Good
Pros: Pro: courteous staffs, spacious room, private garden and bath, another deep bath in the indoor bathroom, close proximity to supermarkets and restaurants, free water and beers (although I don't drink)
Cons: Con: lacks the luxurious touch in overall - e.g. the outdoor garden fences are made of plastic bamboo instead of real bamboo. Private garden's plants are not very well looked after. Some leaves are dead and it's not that pretty nor colorful. The close proximity to the train line means you will constantly hear train track sounds and sometimes announcements. The main public bath is shared with the main building (4 floors bldg Kowakien) and is super ordinary at best in the quality and variety (only 3 baths). I didn't have dinner but breakfast was also quite ordinary.
