Summary of reviews

Guests say
Guests consistently praise the hotel's excellent central location, especially its proximity to the train station and city attractions. The historic charm and grand common areas, including the lobby and staircase, are highlighted as positives. However, many reviews mention that the rooms and furnishings are dated, with some complaints about bed comfort and room maintenance. Breakfast receives mixed feedback, with several guests finding it below expectations. Service is generally adequate, though some guests experienced delays or lack of attentiveness. Overall, the hotel's location and atmosphere stand out as its strongest features.

Pros (+) The front door is literally 50 feet from entrance to train station. Breakfast buffet is outstanding including Brit favorites like haggis.
Cons (-) Only complaint was poor WiFi reception in our room. Great in lobby.

Pros (+) The staff -- front desk/manager -- was very helpful. Our room was uncomfortably hot, and although she was unable to move us the first night as there were no available rooms, she provided us with a fan and ice to help cool the room and a sheet to use rather than the duvet. The second night, she was able to move us to a much larger room on second floor which was very comfortable. The breakfast was v...
Cons (-) We were in Inverness during a heat wave. The first night (of two nights) we were in a small room on the top floor. Since there was no air conditioning and no breeze, it was uncomfortably hot, preventing us from sleeping. Some of the furniture and the carpet in the larger room we stayed in the second night was a bit worn and could use a bit of updating

Pros (+) Great location.
Cons (-) I was on the first floor and the noise from traffic outside on the main road was terrible, with the windows constantly shaking loudly. The windows aren't double-glazed and even passing drunks shouting and swearing sounded like they were in my room. Walls between rooms are also paper thin and the room shook every time the guest next door closed their room door. To be fair, my colleague was on the t...

Pros (+) We had a lovely stay. Our room was very pretty, comfortable and clean. The location cannot be beat.
Cons (-) The breakfast included was not very good. Also, pur booking includes complementary cocktails upon arrival but all we received was a buy one get one 50% off coupon. Not quite the same deal there.

Pros (+) Proximity to train station and city centre
Cons (-) Wifi weak, essentially unusable in the room. Good signal in lobby but inconvient to go there just for wifi.
