Pros: We wanted to be able to relax and unwind at our first destination in Australia, this was definitely the place, the pool was very relaxing and the sunrise on the marina side was breathtaking. They had our room ready and allowed us to check in early. They also had complementary champagne and chocolates upon arrival. They also upgraded our room to a higher level so we had a better view of the bay. The location is with in walking distance to everything, including the ferries at the marina. All in all one of the best parts of our stay was the staff, they were all so welcoming, accommodating and extremely pleasant (esp Kelly and Luke!). I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: pool furniture showed some signs of wear.

Pros: Amazing location walking distance from the harbor with many shops and restaurants within the same complex. Luxurious and modern rooms without feeling pretentious.
Cons: Breakfast service was $20 and most of the buffet choices were unappetizing; the omelettes and French toast prepared on request by the chef were pretty good but overall there are likely better options around Cairns. The pool was really nice but closed unusually at 8pm.

Cons: This hotel is not representative of the Shangri-La group, and I struggle to see how it maitains a 5-star rating. The showerdid not drain properly, grit between the shower tiles is black in places, the fan is chipped, carpet stained, phone's "quick dial" buttons did not work, and the room is old and dated and sparsely furnished.

Pros: Very easy checkin & checkout. Very helpful front desk. They stored one bag for a week while we were on a dive boat. Ask about prepaying for breakfast at the hotel -- its $5 cheaper for the buffet per person.
Cons: WIFI/Internet service in need of serious upgrade!!!! Service was slow & spotty, often requiring multiple attempts to connect. Location is a bit away from downtown Cairns.

Pros: We were perfectly situated to see the beach, sunrise and sunset. Their cookies were especially a nice touch, warm & delicious. Beds were comfortable, towels were large and the coffee bar was perfect (when we finally found the mugs). Parking was more than reasonable compared to Sydney & Melbourne and close enough we were able to walk to the fleet terminal for our GBR trip. The vine room was well situation & staff. Lovely surrounding in an exceptional location.
Cons: On site restaurant was expensive and required to eat food onsite. Wish we could have packed our food for our GBR trip since it was such an early launch.

Cons: In the room, the coffee cups and spoons were left dirty, never changed. The hotel was too far from the main area of Cairns. Not any good food choices. Not enough towels and were thin.

Pros: There is a liquor store and a pub right next door. The pub has a full menu of pretty-good food. Although the hotel is far from the esplanade, it is very close to the airport, so an early flight is a breeze from here.
Cons: Pay by the megabyte WiFi-- Horribly expensive. WiFi should be pay for what you need during your stay or, better, should be considered a utility like water and electricity--just include it in the price. The distance from the esplanade was a bit far especially if you are walking.

Pros: Location location location...within walking distance of the lovely waterfront with all the restaurants. The Concierge, Junko, was excellent putting together tours for us. The view from the 14 level was spectacular.
Cons: The buffet breakfast that came with the room was more than a "little tired." It was fast asleep. The pancakes and waffles were mealy and inedible. The so-called sausages were mini-hot dogs. The "to order" section was grossly understaffed so lines were long waiting for eggs to order.

Pros: The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the location is ok. The view is pretty good as well.
Cons: Evidently the room had just been "refreshed" however the bathroom was extremely dated with cheap metal fittings that reminded me of my early days in the Army. The layout of the room was bizarre to say the least so much so that you would have to turn your head 90 degrees to watch the TV from the bed. The air conditioning is pre-set to 25 degrees Celsius which in the wet season is not sufficient and the room is hot, this is not an acclimatization issue as we are from North Queensland and we found it oppressive to the point we had to have both the fan and air conditioning on at the same time to be comfortable.

Pros: PROS: - Excellent location that is central to everything - shops, cafes, bars, supermarket, esplanade, lagoon, marina where lots of the boat trips depart from. - Affordable - Has everything you need - bed, bathroom, TV. - Good shower pressure.
Cons: CONS: - Quite noisey due to the location being right in the heart of the city. We used earplugs which helped us to sleep. - I'm not a huge fan of the king size bed being two singles pushed together, although I know this is what a lot of hotels do. - It's nothing fancy - our windows were just shutters with lots of bird poop outside! - Wifi is not free, but I think there's free wifi outside on the streets.

Pros: The staff are phenomenal, they were the friendliest hotel staff I have ever dealt with. I am looking at going back next year and I will definitely stay there again. I loved that there were so many amenities within walking distance of the hotel and that the staff recommended some awesome tours. The swimming pool was nice to swim in and the lagoon was only 2 1/2 blocks away...the perfect place to spend the afternoon after a hard mornings touring or shopping...
Cons: We were there for 13 nights, so the cleaning of the rooms was minimal. Garbage removal and clean towels every day, clean bedding every 3 days, but If we wanted the floors swept we had to do it ourselves.

Pros: Location in Cairns and the Price is about the only thing to like about the Bohemia "Resort." We didn't try the pool, but did see some kids enjoying themselves, so maybe that was a plus, too. It was cheap and we made the reservation very last minute, needing only one night in Cairns before moving on up to Port Douglas.
Cons: Meh. Spartan, to say the least. The beds were very uncomfortable and the A/C made a lot of noise, but barely cooled the room. The rooms were pretty worn and shabby. The breakfast lady was guarding the place like the queen's crown jewels were under the towel, but it was nothing more than 2 or 3 different kinds of packaged, sliced bread and a couple of jam packets. There was milk and juice and water, though, and a couple of different kinds of breakfast cereal. No fruit or biscuits or muffins or anything else that would normally be included with a continental breakfast. Very limited, cramped parking. However, we didn't pay that much for the room, so in all I think it served its purpose for the night. Probably wouldn't stay there again unless I was alone and just needed a cheap place to crash. Think of it as a Hostel and you won't be disappointed when you walk in. Be advised that a "Family Shared Room" doesn't mean just that the family all sleeps in one room (which was fine) but also means that you are sharing a bathroom with about 4 other rooms.
