10.0 Excellent
Pros: The property is meticulously maintained, sparkling clean and fun! The staff was ever so friendly and helpful. Our room had great furnishings and a lovely view. I loved the heated bathroom floor, the robes, the snacks and the breakfast. All in all a wonderful stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful property, the hotel respected the good bones of the historic building, but updated the design so that it was modern and inviting. Great location, large, comfortable room, and responsive staff.
Cons: No complaints!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast, hot coffee always available, snacks Location was amazing Interior design and style was incredible! Every room was stunning
Cons: A few recommendations - Dim the lights slightly in the evening to make it more inviting Wine instead of just hard alcohol and mixers in the evenings! Would be great if you could offer reimbursement or passes to the nearby YMCA
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We went there for Salem's Halloween Happenings. The Merchant was within walking distance of every place we wanted to visit. It was warm, cozy and the attention to details was very impressive. The breakfast served in the morning was a welcome delight to get us on our day's adventures, and it was also a chance to socialize with some of the other guests (we met some really nice people!). Lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Tommy and Tamara were the most friendly and helpful hosts we could have asked for. We will definitely be back! :o)
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was amazing...staff were lovely Tommy and Tamara were fantastic and helpful. The coffee was great...location was perfect
Cons: Loved everything
10.0 Excellent

Stepping Stone Inn - Salem - Building

9.5 Excellent (100 reviews)
₹ 14,604+
Overview Reviews
With a stay at Stepping Stone Inn, you'll be centrally located in Salem, steps from Salem Witch Museum and within a 5-minute walk of Peabody Essex Museum. Free self parking is available onsite.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was as advertised. The Inn is as central as you could ask for. Easy walking distance to all the attractions. The owners are lovely with an interesting past.
Cons: Nothing really. It was a bit on the expensive side but you do pay a premium for a central location in Salem in October, the spookiest month of the year.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Personal bathroom for each room. They were a bit tight but to keep the rooms at a reasonable size, it wasn’t much of an issue. The ease of access to all the attractions in Salem. This place was simply the best, and parking was free too!
Cons: Some nights it did get a little stuffy or hot. We were able to use the fan they provided in the room though. The only other thing would be noise attenuation. You could hear through most the walls and floors because it’s an old house. Some insulation in the room demising walls and some floor sound mat could help with this.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Matt’s coffee really made the breakfast. Excellent location.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location of the Inn. It is in walking distance of almost everything. The proprietors are very nice and knowledgeable of the town and the happenings.
Cons: The rain.
7.9 Good
Pros: The location is very convenient - it is 2 blocks from the visitor center and within easy walking distance of several museums and restaurants. It is right next to the Salem Witch Museum. The proprietor was very helpful and greeted us promptly when we arrived and provided lots of information about the area. He recommended a local restaurant and even provided coupons for a free dessert. We stayed in the Monterey room which was very comfortable and we did have a private bath also.
Cons: We were disappointed that a cooked breakfast was not included, although the proprietor explained that a restaurant license is required in order to provide this amenity. There were muffins and fruit/cheese provided, and this limitation is noted on their web page.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was more than expected. Coffee was amazing. The location was easy to find and in walking distance to all tourist attractions.
Cons: Nothing it was perfect
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The inn couldn’t be any closer to the center of everything. The accommodations were comfortable and the dining room each morning had 40’s and 50’s music playing. The living room has furniture where you can easily curl up with a good book and the beds guaranteed a good night’s sleep.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Really friendly owners. Super clean rooms close to everything
Cons: Small bath rooms
8.8 Excellent
Pros: It was very well located and the owners were friendly and helpful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was beautiful. The location is amazing. The owners were so friendly and accommodating. The breakfast in the morning was perfect. I will always stay at the inn when visiting Salem.

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location, brunch, staff
Cons: Very uncomfortable bed and pillows........ no movie offerings
6.7 Good
Pros: This hotel is owned by Phillips Academy for visiting parents or school related personnel. Overall it was clean (not very clean) and comfortable. It’s purpose is to provide temporary housing for Phillips Academy. So it is not a Hilton or Marriott. By you do get a sense of the long history of Phillips Academy. It is a little expensive given the offerings, but for the people who can send their children to Phillips Academy money is not a concern. It’s restaurant was good. I enjoyed walking along the school grounds. The school has a tremendous history and their facility were outstanding. Many Andover locals come to eat at Samuel’s, hotel restaurant.
Cons: It was not as clean as it could be. The rug in the hallways was falling apart along the edges.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Staff was great.
Cons: The rooms would not get cool no matter how high you put the temp. on cool.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: We loved the Andover Inn. It's perfect, the rooms are very nice and comfortably furnished and appointed. The restaurant is great. And most importantly the staff are a joy to interact with: unfailingly courteous and helpful without being intrusive.
Cons: Not at all. Everything was great!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything clean and a lot respect
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Every aspect exceeded my expectations
Cons: Nothing
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It is all about location, in addition to its being a top quality hotel. We can walk downtown to restaurants and coffee shops. The Addison Art Museum is right across from the Andover Inn, too!
Cons: My dinner at Samuel's could have been better...chicken dish was dry.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: The staff and overall service. Luxury and comfortable room, facilities and amenities.

Pros: The hot cider in the lobby was excellent
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Great location -walked everywhere and the hotel is very warm and inviting Parking on site Friendly staff Nice tavern with great food and drinks
Cons: Housekeeping started really early ; we were woken by vacuuming and the staff knocking on nearby doors. I understand and appreciate their jobs but on the rare getaway we were able to sleep in -it would have been nice to be able to. I was even wearing earplugs. :(
7.0 Good
Pros: Our room was a bit small, but it's an old historic hotel. I was expecting this due to other reviews. Some rooms are bigger some are smaller, but it worked fine for myself and husband and my pets. We had a nice view on the 6th floor.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: I loved how classy and beautiful the decor was .. the staff including Adam , Alison , managers and front desk were all helpful and excellent.. Pros: Location was amazing and room was very nice.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful historic hotel. Rooms a bit smaller than I would have imagined, but still very lovely. The bathrooms in room 316 tended to be very cold but if you leave the doors open the heat does eventually heat bathroom. Great staff and great restaurant.
Cons: Cold bathrooms.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: clean room
10.0 Excellent
Pros: This was a great experience.
1.0 Poor
Pros: Very very small room they call a suite.
Cons: The breakfast was not that great. Very small room even though it was a suite.
7.0 Good
Pros: Even though I had a one-night stay, your suite was very reasonably priced, in the general area of our business meeting and suites are always more spacious than rooms to sleep and work in. I was able to meet with team members in the lobby to work.
Cons: Too far off the path from restaurants...at night, even Huber hard to get. For us a bit far from Merrimack College. Our lobby work session was late enough that the group of noisy students dispersed. Needs better separation to allow conflicting uses.
10.0 Excellent
Cons: We love coming here. The staff is exceptional. The bed is incredible. We have a full so a king is luxury for us. I love that the free bus brings you right there. We just left and can't wait to go back
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean, staff was nice, good breakfast
Cons: No bathroom in pool area, hot tub was out of commission and there were no towels in pool area.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved the outer and inner look of this hotel and the location was fabulous.
Cons: The hot tub was not in service. There were no towels stocked up at the pool area and they only had the waffle machine set up on weekends. Also, the carpeted stairwell remained full of crumbs for 3 days and they charge cc for charges we never made.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location with a super breakfast with many selections and good coffee. I enjoyed local restaurants for lunch and especially The Chateau restaurant for dinner less than 1 mile away. I enjoyed it all so much I came back twice more within a short period of time!
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was above average. Fresh fruit and hot oatmeal for me.
6.0 Good
Pros: The staff was nice.
Cons: Bizarre room layout, especially if pulling out the sofa. I really wish we could find a place to stay closer to downtown Andover. The sound transmission from our room to the room below us was crazy clear. We could hear their entire conversation.
9.0 Excellent
Pros: Everyone spoke clear English. The ladies at the front counter made us feel very welcome. Most everything we saw was made in the U.S.A. from the towels to the soap. I was proud to be in a hotel that supports our country. Bed were very comfortable.
Cons: Everything was great. The only thing I'd like to see different would be to have homefries with the breakfast and a Belgian waffle maker for my kids. They look forward to that where ever we go. Other than that. Outstanding.!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Convenient location, great price. Kids enjoyed tne pool.
Cons: The pool was kind of small and crowded and there was lots of water around it.

3.0 Mediocre
Pros: When we walked at first glance it was Beautiful! The setup was on point. We didn't have any complaints until we started using things.

Pros: Helpful front desk, and housekeeping kept our room spotless. The robes in our room were a nice touch.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: All of the front desk people were so nice and polite! And the room was very clean and welcoming. We were in walking distance to almost anything we wanted to do.
Cons: Smoke free, as Massachusetts has legal marijuana we were not allowed to smoke on the property.
6.8 Good
Pros: Christmas decor was gorgeous and there were Christmas cookies and hot cider offered on entering. The whole lobby smelled of cinnamon which I found charming. Bathrooms offered an extensive number of amenities and bottled water and robes. We mostly enjoyed the restaurant as well. Location was great, could walk to the Salem walking tour and many historic attractions.
Cons: Check in was very slow and an elevator was broken giving off a constant beeping. My sirloin was undercooked, even after sending it back twice and it took minutes and my announcing myself to be seated for breakfast even though there was only one other customer. But most disappointing was the way my young adult son was questioned when he came back into the hotel in the morning after making a trip to the car. He was making a cup of coffee and front desk staff approached him accusingly, asking him to verify his room number to assure he was indeed a guest. He was shocked and offended.
7.0 Good
Pros: Great location, easy walking distance to a lot of what Salem has to offer. It was also nice to get out of Boston when we wanted to.
Cons: The heater in our room wouldn’t go above 64 when it was getting down to single digits at night. It took twice mentioning something to the front desk but they ended up putting a portable heater in our room. Ended working just fine for the rest of our stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beds very comfortable.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Location is amazing. Loved the local shops and restaurants just a few hundred feet away. Downtown and many local sites within walking distance.

Pros: Breakfast was reasonably priced if you just wanted to start your day here. A central Location to visit all the main sights in Salem.
6.0 Good
Pros: My daughter and I stayed here the night before a swimeet close by. It was clean, the restaurants folks were very helpful and had good food and it was a reasonable value. This was in the winter, so we didn't walk around at all outside.

Pros: The room, facility and convenience of location, were exceptional. I had lots of space to spread out, and the cleaning crew did a great job of getting things done without interfering with our privacy.
Cons: We arrived at midnight, very tired and could not locate a front desk person. Realized later he was napping in the back room. Also, the little shampoo and soap bottles are horrible. Can barely squeeze anything out of them. Such a waste and use of more plastic.
