"Friendly staff,great views,very clean,food was fantastic." | (in 36 reviews) |
Grounds and traditional "country house" decor in the general areas and dining room were impressive. Our "superior" room was very large, and with two large double beds was really a family room. It was very clean and fairly recently decorated, we would guess. Fairly good value overall, given that we had a 2 night B&B package deal.
The large "attic" room had "Velux" type windows which made it light and airy, but any outside views required being stood up to see them. Some double tables in the dining room were very close to one another. The requested "house wine" at £22 was expensive (and there may have been some less expensive had we studied the wine list)

The rooms are not kept in good condition, and not clean at all. Very dusty! One of the units had what looked like cream all down the dressing table... God only knows what it was! The room I stayed in needed a deep clean. The chairs were grubby - under the tea/coffee tray was filthy. The photo's that are used I'd say was there best rooms, If I had of seen the room we had I'd of never have booked!!
We had room 18 which was up in the attic - the bathroom was beautiful but far too small, the doorway into it would not have accommodated anyone over a size 14 ! !. Also the bed was very hard.
View of garden and tranquility of the hotel, good breakfast and very welcoming staff.
Shower had no hot running water on arrival.
It was very quiet and relaxing. A perfect place to unwind yet close enough to Scarborough for a change of pace.
The standard of breakfast varied from day to day. Some good some not so good. More choice on the dinner menu.

Beautiful building, well run, nice rooms, attentive staff. Excellent menu and dining experience.
Despite an e mailed confirmation of our booking, the wrey head had not received our booking from their centre. Thanks to competent staff we were accomodated and it turned out to be an excellent stay.
Location of hotel
Hotel didn't live up to the expections from the website, interior felt like it needed some refreshing/an uplift. Attention to detail with regards to cleanliness needed more focus, ie: cobwebs from light fittings and curtain rails, spider in bath room, thick dust on extractor fan in bathroom, window in bedroom didn't close properly. Felt hotel had potential, but unfortunately not currently being met
