The dinner buffet was really good and enjoyable. The servers at the dinner buffet made a really good effort at explaining some typical brazilian dishes that were available. Breakfast had a lot of great options to choose from.
Room wasn’t cleaned and we had to call reception to have it made. Reception talked a lot within themselves and didn’t make check in of guest or ourself priority which isn’t a great first impresion.
We paid 85$ to clean a bag of clothes, and they didn’t show the prices before. The location is not great, the neighbourhood is dangerous and you have to take a taxi to go pretty much everywhere. Lastly their staff are aggressive (restaurant and hall). The room is cheap but they will make you pay extra for everything.
Bed, pillow and small room
Shower and bathroom was fantastic! Bed was big and comfortable. Location was great, short walk to main area but far away enough the noise wasn’t a concern
The staff were rude and uncommunicative. We had emailed the hotel the day before explaining that our flight into Rio was getting in quite early (6am). And was it possible to check in early? We never received a response. We arrived and spoke to a guy at the front desk. He explained that it was not possible for us to check in early. We then asked if they could store our bags. They can... for a fee. Any other hotel will gladly store bags, especially for a paying customer. We then asked another person at the desk if he could email us if a room happens to be available earlier than 1pm. He exclaimed they couldn’t do that and tried to sell us their buffet breakfast and to stay and use Wi-Fi. After stating my disinterest in this option he then proceeded to tell me that a room would be free by about 10am for a fee. A fee was not a problem for us but this was not communicated originally. The other staff member boldly lied to the new person helping us saying that we told him we didn’t want to pay. This left a sour taste in our mouths in which we promptly look for a new place the very next day. Uncommunicative and rude staff just looking for ways to get more money from you.
Good location in terms of being close to lapa and the famous steps.
Room was not made up on of the days, bathroom towels were not white and had marks all over them. When room was made up, it looked like it was done very quickly and not properly. Breakfast was very busy and staff were not massively helpful at the front desk.
