The hotel is situated in the very center of the old city, some 7 mins to reach the central square. Single room was spacious, with its own bathroom, nice big bed, armchairs and even a small balcony looking into the yard. The room was made up every day, breakfast also included. Close to the tram stop, that is main public transport in this part of the city. Many good places for dining and shopping, very nice authentic atmosphere of the district itself and of the interior. The stuff was friendly, all of them speaking English and Russian, no problem in communicating at all! They also gave me a local map with recommendations about where and how to go, that helped me so much during my trip! Loved this place so much! Highly recommend!
The staff (Omer, Ekram and Salem) were VERY welcoming, laid back and extremely helpful when it came to advising us on the best places to see, eat & explore in Istanbul and where they are located. They provided us with a map, were fluent in English and met all our needs during our stay to a very high standard. They always asked us how our day went and even upgraded us to a better room at no extra cost because it was vacant. I can't praise those guys enough. They were a massive contributing factor to a very pleasant stay at the Basileus Hotel. Thank you boys! The room was very clean and comfortable. My cousin and I had booked a twin room on the ground floor, which was generously upgraded to a twin room on a higher floor. It was very spacious with a good size bathroom and a balcony. We didn't have a great view because we weren't on the top floor where you had a view of the ocean, but that didn't bother us in the slightest. Ultimately we were just looking for somewhere to rest at the end of long days exploring. So we were pleasantly surprised when we saw the comfort, cleanliness and size of our room. The breakfast is another highlight of our stay. There is a huge variety which ranges from sweet pastries and fruits to savoury treats and different variations of eggs, and much more. The Turkish coffee is just something else! If you've never tried Turkish coffee I highly recommend it! It makes an espresso seem like tea lol. The dining area is spacious and clean. The staff are always willing to make you anything fresh if something has run out or has gone cold because you slept in. This was our first time in Istanbul and the Hotel made a lasting impression as to how accommodating, welcoming, friendly and hospitable the locals are. The whole trip was enjoyable and went smoothly, which was partly down to how stress free and comfortable our stay at Basileus Hotel was.
I'm really struggling to find a flaw or downside to the Hotel and it's staff. They were absolutely superb!
