Booked my rental through Kayak and clearly labeled that I wanted pick up to be at the airport. Through the point of booking, it even asked for my flight information so I though I was good. When I got to the Hertz at the airport though, they said my car was at a different Hertz on the other side of town. So I had to Uber to that Hertz to get my car. Then had to drop off the car at that Hertz and Uber to the airport.Reviewed 23 Sep 2022

This was a horrible experience. When reserving this car, I was asked what time I would like to pick up the car. I selected 6:00 pm the night before my work trip, thinking only times ACTUALLY available to pick up cars were shown. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to Hertz only to find the location closed. I happened upon a Hertz employee leaving in his car and flagged him down. When I asked where after hours pick-up was -- he said they didn't have that service and that they were closed for the day. Oh...really? ME: "But -- I have to pick up a car for my work trip tomorrow" HIM: "Oh well, that's okay. We don't have any cars to rent anyway. Try again tomorrow." ME: ::Watches in the distance as he drives off:: This is ridiculous. I understand there is a car shortage, but if you SEE you have reservations on a day where you run out of cars, the reasonable thing to do is call and alert those people so they can plan accordingly. That's the most basic level of customer service I can imagine. I was able to track down a rental car, thankfully. But I won't use Kayak ever again and I most certainly won't use Hertz -- both have proven unreliable.Reviewed 19 Jul 2022

I arrived and had to wait half hour for the rental car guy to come back (I had called in advance to tell him my arrival time and still wasn’t there) The car ended up being extremely expensive since something went wrong at booking with the drop off location. And he wasn’t being helpful about this. When I finally got the car it smelled so badly of smoke I had to drive with the windows down my whole 4 hour trip. It was less than Ideal and will never rent from them again.Reviewed 13 May 2022

Showed up an hour and change after I had said the pickup would be and the car wasn’t cleaned and had so little gas that it didn’t register on the digital read out. Was told to bring it back w the same amount of gas, just not really comfortable trying to coast in on fumes so Hertz made some extra money on me thereReviewed 29 Apr 2022

I rented a car for my 9pm flight. The confirmation email listed 12pm pick up time. Good thing I called to confirm… they close at 6pm!! Had to cancel the reservation because they didn’t have any cars available at the airport. HOURS on the phone. Total disaster.Reviewed 3 Apr 2022

Hertz was a nightmare to book with, and they're definitely penny pinching thieves. Modifying a booking is nearly impossible online, and if you try doing it over the phone, you'll get charged an additional 5% of the booking - absolutely ridiculous. If you decide to cancel and rebook because it's easier (AKA actually doable), you're the equally as screwed because even with a full month's notice, Hertz will not give a full refund and will instead pocket $50. The car we picked up was lovely and suited our needs, but they clearly didn't clean properly as there was a half-drank cup of soda in the car, especially concerning when Hertz declares they're doing extra cleaning because of Covid, I'm not convinced. I definitely recommend booking from any other vendor, Hertz is the worst.Reviewed 30 Dec 2021
