Oca Palacio De La Llorea Hotel & Spa - Gijón - Building

7.5 Good
Pros: Location was beautiful. Spa was really good even though a little tired and in need of an update Staff were helpful and friendly David the waiter was particularly nice, and worked the entire dinner service practically alone (the other waiter brought a few meals from the kitchen but David did all the hard work) Nina on reception was helpful when we queried our room allocation and was very friendly.
Cons: When we arrived we were shown to a disabled room with three beds in it. We had not booked this room and it’s not the first time we have had this happen when using booking.com. Not sure if the hotels deliberately give rooms that no one wants when allocating for booking.com but it feels that way. We asked to be moved to a double room as per our booking. We were told the hotel was fully booked. Then we were told there was just one room remaining, we were shown to a tiny attic room with two single beds. We had no choice but to accept the disabled room. The issue with this room is that everything is at a lower height to accommodate those in wheelchairs, for two people of 6ft it’s not a comfortable room, especially the bed and the bathroom. We were then phoned and told there was a suite available but we would have to pay an extra €45 - so we reluctantly agreed. The room was very small, it had a living room and a nice bathroom but all very tired looking. Dinner was nice but nothing exceptional as was the breakfast.
7.5 Good
Pros: The location was good, overlooking a golf course, nice and quiet just 10 minutes from Gijon and 5 minutes from local landmarks
5.0 Okay
Pros: Not a great experience. No clean, intrusive staff and poor breakfast
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent position just off A8 motorway for journey to northern Spain and Portugal. Useful 24hr desk when ferry late. Very clean, modern and good selection of hot and cold breakfast. Spa facilities if required.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great location and exceptional value for money
Cons: Nothing - a real gem!!
4.6 Okay
Pros: Its was quiet and the one bar gentlemen made it fun and made an effort, probably the only person who had personality
Cons: The staff had no personality except for one, the booking wasnt what we expected, the spa access was only for 2 hours a day which isn't what is advertised, the hotel apparently speak spanish, French and English and this is untrue, there is only one person we found who spoke English
7.1 Good
Pros: The hotel is surrounded by golf courses, nice neighbourhood. Tasty breakfasts, friendly service, rooms quite clean, although one of them didn't have air conditioning working properly, and another had stains on the wall around the window.
Cons: The hotel is located far from tourist attractions and I have the impression that it wants to be an attraction itself. There was no tea and coffee kettle in the room, and due to the high prices for the stay, entry to the spa for hotel guests should be free. Far from local grocery stores or markets. Dinner at the hotel starts too late for children.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Theplace

The NH Gijón hotel is located close to the stunning San Lorenzo beach and only 15-minutes away from the historic center on foot. The glass-fronted modern building offers amazing sea views and guests can easily reach the Gijón Convention, Fair Center, as well as the Molinón stadium which are all within a 10-minute walk of the hotel. For lunch, we recommend our Gastro bar which serves tapas and light meals with your favorite drinks. The restaurant, Amares, serves contemporary Spanish cuisine. Guests can enjoy their meals in the light-filled dining room or at the casual and sophisticated Gastro bar. For relaxed conversation or a quick meeting, you can also head to the hotel’s lobby bar. On warm sunny days, enjoy a dip in the pool located on the rooftop terrace. Guests can unwind in the wellness area with its sauna and Turkish bath. The hotel also has four meeting rooms for up to 400 people to accommodate small and large functions.

6.0 Good
Pros: The spa bath was great. Comfortable bed, plenty of hot water
Cons: Air con didn't cool the room, stayed on hot throughout our stay, which made it unbearable. No tea/coffee facilities in the room. evening meal was cancelled due to the virus, but no other eating or drinks facilities available! Breakfast was bleak to say the least. Very strong undrinkable coffee and cake was on the offering... with fruit. No measures were taken to ensure paying guests had any kind of drinks or snacks etc.
6.3 Good
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Services and facilities definitely do not match 4 stars hotel. TV signal did not work. Internet was not good. No glasses for water. Only plastic disposable pnes in the toilet
8.8 Excellent
Pros: I do not think it is a 4 star hotel but more like a good out of town Premier inn/ Travelodge. Will very happily stay there again, offers good value for money.
Cons: on an industrial estate but also next to a major supermarket.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Hotel next to A-8 autovia ;well located for us. Receptionist was busy but efficient.Wifi worked well bed was comfortable bathroom OK.Impressed that my request for top floor away from street noise was matched 100% by choice of room. Did not use restaurant but it offered a fairly price evening menu
Cons: The breakfast was a bit on the weak side: hard kiwis, no hot food, not much choice of sweet food;a bit surprising for a 4* hotel but since we paid 45 euros hard to complain. Indoor parking not used as access was a bit narrow for a North American driver No kettle in room

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The location is excellent. We walked to every single place we wanted to visit. The staff was very helpful.
4.0 Okay
Pros: Location is excellent and they allow dogs, although they charge €10 for dogs 15kg. The first place I’ve stayed where they do that and it’s not justifiable as any additional effort to clean is not related to the size of the dog.
Cons: Our room was clean but the bath and toilet both had hairs in so hadn’t been cleaned properly. The bath plug was for a sink waste so didn’t hold water and the shower hose was damaged and sprayed water everywhere. They changed us to another room when we complained but it was smaller and there was no bath.
7.9 Good
Pros: The staff and the location
Cons: The price although I think is a matter of demand and offer

9.2 Excellent
Pros: Cleanliness and location were perfect.
Cons: In our room the bathroom’s door knob was broken so it was not possible to lock it when going.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: The room was very comfortable and well equipped. I the queen size bed has 4 pillows and very comfortable blankets. The bathroom is big and comfortable and hot water does not run out. The staff is really nice and kind, willing to help you at any moment. The location of the hotel is also very good and for the price it’s amazing.
Cons: I feel like they didn’t give me enough soap and it would have been more comfortable to shower if I had more. Also the keys for the rooms are huge. Those are the two only details I could complain about.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: It’s nice and cozy. I will definitely come again.
Cons: The elevator is a little too slow
2.0 Mediocre
Pros: The staff was friendly at the reception, and important sightseeing is not far away, and the cleaning lady did a great job.
Cons: The furniture in all the hotel is extremly old, it should be renovated. We were give a room and the wall was exactly next to the mechanism of the elevator, so everytime the elevator would move, all the wall would shake and it would get loud. Parking is theoretically available on the street, but pratically almost impossible to find. Across the street, there is a police department, so that in the nights noise might be also a problem maybe for people with a sensitive sleep.
5.4 Okay
Pros: People running the Hotel.
Cons: Minimalistic rest room and bit crappy.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Furniture needs improvement Personnel very helpful and friendly
Cons: Exceptional location

8.0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious and clean bedroom with a very good central location and sea view.
7.1 Good
Pros: Location, views and lovely large room
Cons: Air con didn’t work Lifts were tiny Had to lift luggage up stairs into the lobby - no ramp
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The location
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very much in the centre of town - there are a number of bars and restaurants nearby whilst being just across the road from the sea. And although there wasn't designated/secure parking for our motorcycles (that would have required us to pay at a third-party facility nearby) we were able to park on the small area in front of the hotel. It is exposed so locks and chains are probably a good idea for bikes. The rooms were clean and comfortable although not particularly characterful. Breakfast was excellent.
Cons: This hotel may lack a little individuality but it is modern, clean and comfortable and the staff were helpful.
7.5 Good
Pros: The hotel is located right next to the main Gijón beach and promenade so it is easy to walk to the centre and have access to shops and restaurants. It is also walking distance to the old neighborhood. The rooms Were simple but very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The covers and pillows were also of high quality cotton and very soft. The bathroom was enough and the room was silent. The room included a desk and a big flat TV with sufficient channels.
Cons: The staff was very “northern Spanish style”: not much talking, serious faces and slow to death. The price of the room was based on the location I believe and not on he quality of the rooms but on average is OK and I would probably would not mind staying there again. Breakfast at the hotel is not worth it because is expensive and for that price there are plenty of cafeterias next to he hotel with combo breakfast for 3 euros per person (coffee, orange juice and a nice croissant).
8.0 Excellent
Pros: The only problem was the maid service I’m the mornings in the room above. The maids are always soooo loud that it continuously wakes you up. Other than that the place is lovely

Cons: We have to change the first room because the tobacco smell was strong and didn't have AC. The second room have AC but the noise of it was incredible.
7.1 Good
Pros: Very good hotel location. On the sea shore. Nearby surf school. Onsite rooftop restaurant with ocean views every morrning.
Cons: Breakfast is very poor. The same salad in egg and fried ham with dice. Very difficult with parking a car all the day. The room is definitely not up to 4 * hotel level. The air conditioner was very loud in the room..

Cons: Parking was expensive and very difficult to get in and out of the garage.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very nice personnel at the reception. Good value for the money. Convenient location.
Cons: Breakfast was thoroughly uninspired. Lights in the room were bad (they are in most hotels, but still …). The building and furnishings had a socialist flavor. :-)
1.0 Poor
Pros: Location was ok. The staff were friendly and did what they could. It was clean.
Cons: The rooms where very nousy, you could here every single movement the neighbours made. The walls where made of carbord I guess... No airconditioning...
7.0 Good
Pros: The room was comfortable and the staff was super nice. The bathroom was clean and the toiletries were there.
Cons: The windows were a bit old so they didn't block the sound all that well. The breakfast choice was a bit bland. And while the idea of having someone serve you coffee might seem like a good idea I would prefer to have a machine.
5.4 Okay
Cons: Old hotel, noisy street and no air conditioning. Scary tight ramp to underground parking for 16 EUR. However good location.
