Pros: The staff were very friendly and accommodating with any needs we had. The pillows and mattress were exceptional, soft pillows and soft mattress. The room was very clean. The pool and hot tub were warm and the best in a hotel we have enjoyed in a long time. The pancake breakfast was a nice add at the end of our stay.
Cons: There is only one thing.... we could hear our neighbors upstairs and next to us. It is a older building that has been updated, so I am not sure if anything could be helped. No other negative items noted. The place was wonderful.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was delicious and there was plenty of food for the hungriest of travelers. The staff was so friendly and helpful, you didn't even have to go up to them to ask questions, there were right there helping along the way. There was so much to do at the Bavarian Inn- even during a snowy day in South Dakota. After a long day of traveling, it was a great gem to find!.
Cons: I really don't have much to say, the rooms were comfortable and clean, the staff was friendly, the location was great.

Pros: The owners delivered the extra touches only an owner operated business can deliver.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Attentive and friendly staff. Location was good too.
Cons: No high chairs for my 2 year old.
7.0 Good
Pros: Charming place located right off the highway and less than a mile from downtown Custer. Room was clean and had most of the amenities although very dated.
Cons: Did not see any way of controlling the room temp so had to open the window, which of course also lets in all the noise from people stomping up and down the stairs as well as highway noise.

Pros: The rooms were very clean and orderly. Carpets were very clean and looked new. The beds were comfortable and the pool was awesome to have for the family. Great deal for what we got.
Cons: Everything was a bit dated. You can tell it’s just an older place. But that goes with the town so can’t really fault that too much. Overall was a good experience.

Pros: The location was perfect for our 2 night stay. The room was very clean. It had a microwave and refrigerator which is very handy on a long trip. Brian was very accommodating and even lent us a pass for one of the parks. There was a pool, hot tub and sauna, which we did not use but it looked very nice. Restaurant next door was very good.
Cons: The tv didn't work consistently. Had to keep unplugging and plugging back in.
9.6 Excellent
Cons: Only thing I didn't like was no towels for the pool. Everything else was great.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I have stayed in $500 /night hotels that did not have the attention to detail that Bruce and Nancy bring to the Chief Motel. It is older, but well maintained and literally everything you could want was at your fingertips. With one comment Bruce reopened the hot tub, which had been closed for the season. Every morning a clean rag was on our motorcycles. Bike cleaning area and supplies provided. I can go on and on but clearly this is a great choice for families and bikers.
Cons: Nothing!
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. This is a family owned road side motel that has been meticulously maintained.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean! Wonderful location in Custer! Great indoor pool, hot tub & sauna. Walking to restaurants. Pounding Fathers is a great one right next door( part of Mount Rushmore Brewing Co.). Also Sage Creek Grill was very good 3 blocks away. Small rooms but had everything we needed with frig & microwave, VERY soft towels, parking right outside & a covered spot for our motorcycle.
Cons: All great!
3.4 Mediocre
Pros: close to Mt Rushmore, Custer SP and Crazy Horse Memorial
Cons: the room was old, outdated. it smelled old, not clean, we had two huge moths fly out of the curtains and in the bathroom. the bed was uncomfortable, it was old with a thick foam on top of the mattress.
